My roof had been leaking in exactly the same spot over a period of time. I had a new roof put on several years ago, a new cooler installed and my ceiling repaired about six years ago. A new coating of paint was applied about three years ago after which, the leak began again. I have had estimates in the past on what the problem is and how it could be fixed but the remedies did not seem to be a solution. I called Oscar on a Monday and he scheduled an appointment for an estimate the following day. He arrived promptly, examined the problem area indoors and on the roof, explained to me what the problem was and how he would do the repairs. The flat rate price he quoted I thought to be reasonable. His pinpointing the problem and repairs necessary to fix it was right on. I am very pleased with the work he did.

Oscar is a very experienced handyman, electrician, plumber, etc. He came at 7:30 A.M each day and put in a full day's work. The most important job was to patch several cracks in the stucco parapet walls on our flat roof. Although he had strong ideas about how to do this, he did it the way we wanted, which he thought would be less of a permanent fix. We agreed that if the cracks reopened in less than 2 years we would do it his way. He also did a more complete repair of a stucco wall surrounding our pool, using concrete filler and rebar to reinforce the wall. He also did several smaller jobs, including installing new faucets and valves, replacing an electric outlet, caulking, routing table legs, and reinforcing the rubber bottom strips on our garage doors. He did each job well and had creative ideas for how to fix things. He is also friendly and pleasant to work with. He did put me off initially by showing up and asking that I sign a contract to complete all the tasks I had listed for him. I did not want to commit to the entire list until I had some experience with his work. It turned out he did not need that commitment and just wanted in writing that he would be paid for what he did. Once we straightened that out, things went much better. He is actually reasonable regarding payment schedule, asking only to be reimbursed for out of pocket materials costs until the job is done, at which time he would be paid for his work.

Mr. Tortosa was professional and always punctual. He did an excellent job, always staying on schedule and communicating if any questions or concerns arose. In addition to the above work, he acted as oversight for another ongoing renovation, furthering concerns and questions as needed. I would have no hesitation in calling on him again, and would highly recommend his work.

I bought this tankless unit over two years ago and was going to install it myself. However, I also needed a new gate valve since the original one was not functional since I moved into my house over 20 years ago. This was a job I didn't feel comfortable doing since the access was difficult and there was no room for error installing this valve in such a short length of pipe available. Oscar did a great job with the gate valve and also installing the tankless hot water heater. He had to route a new larger vent pipe through the roof and also did extra repairs, such as replacing a section of the gas supply with black pipe in place of the galvanized. All of Oscar's work was very professional. He was very personable and cleaned up the work site.

Working on a old house you always come up with surprises. Oscar was very professional and gave us good advise. He showed up on time, worked fast, and did all the work we asked of him. We look forward to calling on him again and would give him a good recommendation.

Our pluming lines were all extremely slow. Flush the toilet, it came up into the tub. Drain the tub, it comes up in the kitchen sink. I called Oscar and he returned my call that same day. He came out the very next day (even though I live far from his home) because it was an emergency. Unlike the plumbing contractor who had come by and couldn't find the drain line to the sewer hookup, Oscar found it right away and knew exactly what to do. The plumber wanted to contact Tucson City to look up the location of the pipe! This would have taken days and days! Oscar dug the hole, opened up the pipe and pulled all kinds of roots and stuff out of the line. He cut the old concrete pipe, installed the bi-directional clean out, and cleaned the line all the way to the sewer! On time. Under budget. Friendly. Honest. Professional. That's Oscar.

After the completion of the job he learned that I was having trouble with a faulty gas line. He recommended that I convert the house to all electric and assured me that he was qualified to do the work. After the electric conversion was completed an inspector for the City of Tucson deemed the workmanship was poor and not up to code. So I had to hire a licensed electrician to redo his work (at a cost of approximately $3,000.000) to bring the rental property up to code. I have contacted Mr. Tortosa back in November to notify him that his work had to be redone and request compensation in the amount of $1000.00 (based on a conservative estimate). To date I have received no response.

Oscar has experience as an inspector, which really helped us figure out which repairs to make. Oscar was prompt everyday, friendly, and charged a reasonable price. Everything went smoothly and didn't take too much time. We paid him hourly.

Aging tenants requested installation of the safety hand rail. As their landlord, I inspected the site and determined the request was both reasonable and necessary. After two handymen/contractors failed to show for the appointments, I searched Angie's List and found Oscar Tortosa listed. I contacted him and set an appointment for estimate. Oscar was punctual for his appointment and discussed the project with me, then submitted a sketch and cost estimate. This house is located in an upper middle class neighborhood and the completed job was not simply attractive, but beautiful and adds to the value of the house. Oscar is not only experienced and skilled in his profession, but in my opinion he serves as a role model for the perfect handyman/contractor. I will seek his services for other jobs and recommend him to my friends and associates.

Very good communications with Oscar via phone. He promptly came out and provided a reasonable estimate. Work was completed in 1.5 days. Electrical and plumbing were done very proficiently. Finish work on cabinetry was of moderate quality, but in Oscar's defense it was not a simple process attempting to fit the dishwasher in in place of the existing cabinets. I would definitely recommend Oscar's work to others.

Oscar was on time when we met for the estimate as well as when he returned to do the work. He was polite, professional, and worked very hard the whole time he was here. I would certainly call him again when any additional repair work needs to be done.
