Description of Work: I purchased several single-hung vinyl windows from Window Depot, but I have been installing them myself. You'd be hard-pressed to beat the price of the windows, which are made by Solar Industries in Tucson. Window Depot has a very large stock of these windows for both new construction and replacement. The first window I ordered was a few days late because of some issue with their ordering system, but since then they have arrived on time.

+ -1 moreWhen I went in to get a quote, they were very helpful and I was given a quote & told that I could call to place the order when I decided to move forward. I called the next day to place the order and they had lost the quote in the system. I had to return to the store to place the order. When the order came in, I had to call them to find out when it had arrived instead of them calling me as they said they would.
Description of Work: I purchased a steel door and 2 windows from them.

Description of Work: New windows installed throughout home - 2 story approx 14 windows. They were great. The installation was very professional and they left the home as clean as when they started. They were a fraction of the cost of some other companies we received bids from.

+ -1 moreWindows came on time. Doors came in wrong dimensions. It happen 2 times. After second time we took doors as is and cut them to right size. All these reordering took 2 months. Speedway stuff was very helpful.

Description of Work: Installed three floor-to-ceiling windows at our house. | |I visited the showroom on Speedway and arranged a time to have someone com out and take measurements. We got the quotes back shortly after the measurements were taken and the WD people were very helpful about revising the quote immediately when I asked about other options. We finally settled on what we wanted and arranged an install date. The install took place within time stated. The actual job took much longer than anticipated due to the tightness and irregularities in the openings, but the installers made all the adjustments on site and did a very nice job. We are quite happy with the new windows and are looking forward to being more comfortable this winter! | |One negative experience was that when the crew showed up with our windows, they did not have the screens for the sliders on the lower half of the windows. It eventually took me going back to the Speedway store about three weeks later to demand that someone come out and finish this project for us. That was on a Saturday, someone was there on the next Monday with the screens. | |I have had lots of windows installed on other homes and know they can very costly. I chose WD because of their very competitive pricing, lifetime warranty, and the fact that they make their windows right here in Tucson.

+ -1 more.Milgard relationship was a disaster. We ordered 3 point locks and checked with Milgard as well as window depot and we received 2 point locks on our our 3 panel sliders. Milgard uses the term multi point and uses the term for different locks interchangably. Door handles came without the premium finish we ordered and we have had the screens in 3 doors replaced because of faulty product. All doors have had locks adjusted. Product appears ok if you overlook the incorrect locking system and that it took many visits to get to this point. THE BRIGHT SPOT IN THIS IS THAT WINDOW DEPOT WAS TRYING TO GET THIS ORDER CORRECTED AND STAYED WITH US THROUGH THE ROUGH SPOTS. i DO NOT THINK OUR EXPERIENCE WAS TYPICAL OF WINDOW DEPOTS SUPPLIERS AND THEY WERE AS UPSET WITH MILGARD AS WE WERE.

+ -1 moreThe saleslady was very professional and very helpful. She offered a lot of suggestions. She gave us some alternatives and things like that. That's what really impressed me. For their responsiveness, they took so long to get our estimate back. I was kind of disappointed in that.

+ -1 moreThey quoted us a price and it was the best by far. Carol (who now works at the Speedway store) was helpful in suggesting we use a picture window over the sink. She was very nice and straightforward. No sales games like some companies play. Once quoted, we paid half up front. Their installer arrived and did the entire job in one day except he didn't have the little plugs to cap the screw holes in the frames. We are very pleased with the windows. We did need them to come back to install the plugs and I had some trouble doing this as the first person I called didn't call me back. Once I called Carol, everything was taken care of immediately so you have to be a little persistent and not expect perfect phone service. This is one reason I gave them a 'B' on some things but it's really not a big deal. After they came back and installed the plugs, we noticed some cracks in the caulking where you could see to the outside. I don't think their installer uses the best caulk. This is really the only knock against them. I could call them back, but it's easier to just touch it up myself. We spent half what other companies quoted us and we love the windows. If you want to be pampered, you can pay a few thousand extra and maybe get a boutique experience. Or you can keep your hard-earned money and call these guys.
Description of Work: They replaced all windows in my home with new vinyl-frame energy-efficient windows. There were approximately 9 windows.

+ 0 moreThe windows are great and really help insulate the house. The sliding glass door was not as nice as I expected, but I did not get a "top dollar" one either. The staff was very knowledgable about the products and answered all questions in a timely manner. We installed ourselves. For the money it was an overall good purchase.

+ -1 moreThis store was recommended by a handyman who is highly rated on Angie's list. The estimator lady was quite knowledgeable and very nice. The team of 3 arrived on time and were very courteous. It took them a day and a half. They came back the next day to inspect the work and fix any little issues. The price was much less than expected. The windows and screens are great - work very well! I'm happy every time I open them. We definitely notice a big difference in temperature control and utility costs. The only drawback was that they didn't have a way to contain all of the dust caused by grinding cement to get the old windows out, so fine dust got all over. And we wished that they had removed the paper from the new windows. I would definitely use them again, though. They were very professional.
Description of Work: Removed 9 very old and difficult to remove steel casement windows. Installed new vinyl double pane windows with screens, manufactured in Arizona.

+ -1 moreTHEY LOOKED GREAT (AT FIRST). AFTER WE LOOKED AT THEM CLOSELY, WE NOTICED THERE WERE SMALL SPIDER LIKE CRACKS IN TWO OF THE SEVEN WINDOWS. THEY DID COME BACK AND REPAIR IT, BUT IT TOOK THEM TWO AND A HALF WEEKS TO DO IT.
