Birchard met with my husband and I on numerous occasions to discuss the work to do in our kitchen. He was friendly, personable, and worked with us on coming up with a plan that made us happy. He took one of our cabinet doors so he could use it as a sample to get some cabinets made. We scheduled for the work to be started end of Sept 2015 and we were supposed to pick out a counter top we wanted. Birchard provided us with a quote and drawing of the work with some minor tweaks that still needed to be done. In trying to finalize a specific date to get the work started, Birchard told me that his cabinet person went out of business and he was looking for someone else. This went on for about 2-3wks. Birchard then stopped returning any phone calls. I tried for a couple weeks to get a hold of him with no success. My family then went on vacation and then the holidays and just lost track of trying to get the work done. Then beginning of Feb my husband e-mailed Birchard asking him what happened and if we offended him in any way that he didn't want to work with us. We also asked him to return our cabinet door back to us. Birchard read the e-mail the next morning (according to our e-mail read receipt) but never responded and never returned our cabinet door. Unfortunately, the work is still pending and we're starting from scratch and now we will need to pay someone to make us another cabinet door because Birchard won't return ours for us.

BJ and his crew did a great job on my laundry room addition. We are very pleased with the way it turned out. It was a very professional job.

William and crew replaced a 6X6 post supporting the tiled porch roof on our older home. I'm very pleased with the work - it matches well, it was not disruptive, the price was reasonable, & we had no problems with it. I think he's an excellent carpenter. I've been after him to do additional work at the house, but it's hard to get him to respond. Whenever we do connect, the lead time for work is about 3 months (no problem for me - we're flexible about scheduling). I'm guessing my jobs may be too small, but he's also apparently working though an expansion of his business. I'll need to find another carpenter, but I'd still recommend him.

From my first meeting with BJ (the owner) I was on board. He was on time, prepared and professional, and he really listened to me. Everything i asked him, his answer was always the same "yes, we can do that". All through the project I heard the same answer again and again - YES! BJ and his crew were on time every day and so pleasant to be around. They come to work, and they work! I had the same 3 man crew each day and they were always cheerful and seemed happy to come to work. They were also very competent and were able to get so much accomplished each day. I had a few days that I couldn't be home and BJ worked around my schedule. There were a few projects that he subbed out, and those contractors were top notch as well. I very enthusiastically recommend this company!!! Thank you BJ, Jose, Austin, and Robert!!

The work was excellent. Always kept us informed of what was to be done, timing cost, etc. Everyone on the crew was great and went the extra effort when necessary. BJ was always on site or called or sent one of the crew to check on progress. Anyone looking to remodel a bath or kitchen should at least get an estimate from Birchard Remodeling. Easy to work with.

BJ and crew did an excellent job. From the beginning BJ had everything covered to the dot and also recommended some great ideas that I built into the project. Everything was detailed and done with very good quality. The crew was always on time and on the day that BJ estimated. They had to work with 2 other contractors at the same time and there were no issues what so ever. The project also came in at estimated budget which is always a relief since these type of work tend to run over always. We are extremely happy with how everything turned out and I am already planning my next project and will definitely hire William Birchard Remodeling for the job.

His team arrived on time and worked on the project for two days which included painting. They were very cordial and professional the entire time and did their best to keep the disturbance down. After a few days had gone by, a man who installs gutters came and spoke with me about what I wanted. He also was very professional and cordial. A team arrived early in the morning a couple of weeks later and did the install in a few hours. I was impressed with the craftsmanship and attitude of all the people involved. I probably could have paid less, but it might have taken longer and the overall experience would have not been as good.

Bill clearly has a lot of experience with remodeling. He gave me an estimate for everything from lighting in my kitchen to replacing a large support beam in my carport. His price was fair, estimate written with specifics and the timeline realistic. He also has a guarantee on his company's work. I had a change in plans and had the work done in a different way - BUT I still regret not having Bill do the work.

William (BJ) Birchard was directly involved in all the details from beginning to end. He spent time with us discussing our needs and preferences. He offered options and alternatives to consider when appropriate. He also offered advice on choices based on his extensive experience. He helped us source materials where it was most cost-effective for us to purchase them directly. When he and his crew arrived on site and got to work, they made continuous, steady progress and completed the work in under nine weeks. Despite the chaos inherent in a project such as this, everyone on the team were a delight to have around. We were consulted when appropriate about choices which left us feeling "in control." BJ's quality standards proved to be at least as high as our expectations. We're not disappointed with anything that was done. As for the money, we made a series of progress payments that generally aligned with the pattern of expenses. The final bill contained no surprises...it was right in line with price we were quoted almost four months earlier. All-in-all, a great experience.

We received three bids on the project. BJ Birchard was the most creative at problem solving and provided the lowest bid. His solution eliminated any potential leaking around the windows while increasing the insulation in the outer walls of the room. Specifically, he built out the walls around the room so that they extended over a small brick facia at the bottom of the wall. The windows and walls were set further out so that any water would run off the windows or wall to the ground. While doing this he eliminated one window in the room we did not want. The outer wall was covered with siding to match the rest of the siding and prepared for the installation of a rolling shutter we purchased from Tucson Rolling Shutters. BJs design made the internal window sills much deeper, therefore matching the rest of the windows in our double brick wall house. In the inside of the room he put Quiet Rock on one wall, fixed drywall irregularities and texturized the room to match the rest of the house. BJ Birchard is professional, personable and a great problem solver. He was great at communicating start dates and arrival times. The job started and finished on schedule. His workers are polite, hard working and knowledgeable. They have multiple skills so the job could be completed without hiring subcontractors. We paid $4,478, which was very reasonable for the amount of work that was done. If we need any work in the future we will use William Birchard Remodeling again.

BJ was very responsive in supplying the original request for quote and followed up in a professional manner. He arrived on time to do the work and finished in a timely fashion. His crew was considerate of the furnishing and covered everything up to avoid getting wall board dust on the furniture. BJ and his team did an excellent job in repairing (or replacing if needed) and texturing drywall in various areas inside the house as well as the carport . They also installed new molding on the french patio door replacing what the initial installer of that door did so poorly. He and his team also installed corner molding that was missing in the living room, dining room, and bedrooms. We are so impressed with their work that we will be contracting his company for additional home repairs/remodeling I highly recommend this company and have referred him to friends and neighbors.

We wanted to change the layout of our kitchen and we had a general idea of what we wanted. Mr. Birchard (BJ) met with us and developed a very good plan of how the kitchen should be modified. When we were ready to look at counters he went with us to look at granite. That was a huge help. He has a good sense of what's going to look good in a home. During the work BJ was on site almost constantly, working alongside his crew, catching any unexpected issues and making decisions as the work progressed. This really gave us a lot of confidence that the job was being done right. The granite was cut and installed by another company. BJ was on site for both the measuring and installation. The quality of the work was outstanding. We didn't replace the kitchen cabinets so the carpentry had to be done carefully in order to have cabinets that looked correct and not damaged after they were moved around. One of the best parts of working with BJ is that he organizes the project to minimize the disruption around the house. They cleaned up everything and were able to leave the kitchen in working order after a day's work. I'm sure that depends on how much remodeling is being done, but BJ was very careful to minimize the inconvenience. We are very happy with the results and would be delighted to have Birchard Remodeling do work for us in the future.

BJ was helpful from the beginning of our planning. He gave us the perspective we needed so we could make the many choices, large and small, that go into a complete bathroom remodel. When the work began BJ and his workers were always punctual and professional. Our family was in the house most of the time that they worked, with a minimal amount of disruption. We are very pleased with the outcome of their work and are enjoying our beautiful new bathroom! We would recommend them to anyone planning a bathroom remodeling project.

BJ was simply a pleasure to work with. I originally bought a home as an investment property and wanted to add another bedroom to the home. I had several bids from contractors but none of them had the detail and professionalism like BJ. His invoice and proposals explained everything he was going to perform. I was on a tight deadline because I needed the addition to be done in time for the school year which was in 2 months! Being fairly mechanically inclined, I knew all of the services that were performed needed to be done and nothing else was added that was not necessary. He wasn't the cheapest and not the most expensive bid but since I am out of state I needed someone who I could trust and be my eyes and ears. He sent weekly/daily photos of the progress and also asked me along the way if I wanted to stay with what we originally discussed or upgrade to something else that might look better. He did all of the backbone work from submitting plans to the city, to making sure all building structure met code. I would highly recommend BJ and his company to anyone, regardless of the size of improvement needed. I intend to use BJ for my future projects and developments to come.

Excellent. On time. Polite and fun. Cleaned up everything. Grout matched the tile in color perfectly. What a joy to have them do th work on my home.

It went great. The first day BJ showed up right on time, prepped the house to ensure the demo didn't affect the whole house and hit it hard. They tore out drywall, flooring and windows right away. I was hoping to sell the windows on Craig's list and they took extra care in removing them. After the compete demo, there was a 30' drop off the newly opened patio which BJ made safe with a guard rail and ply wood. He was able to keep very close to the estimate which was amazing considering we had no idea what was under the floor and behind the drywall. Just like on another project they worked for us (bathroom remodel) he and his crew did everything the right way and did not cut corners. He had a few great ideas along the way which changed the design just a little, but worked out to be a touchdown decision. He turned a room that we had no idea how to use into our favorite "room" in the house. Oh by the way, he was the lowest bid. Another one came in at nearly twice the cost.

They completely gut the bathroom to include demo of the floor, vanity, tub and shower. They also framed a door that was just an archway. There was some water damage in the previous shower and they repaired that as well. The new bathroom included a tile shower with a glass door, new windows a new vanity with granite counter and sinks, new tile floor, new LED can lights and baseboard. BJ and his crew did a great job throughout the project. Prior to the demo, he took almost a full day preparing the house so that the debris would be confined to the work area. He laid down thick paper to protect our tile and hung plastic tarps in several places which kept the rest of the house mostly dust free. His crew showed up on time every day and they cleaned up at the end of each day. BJ made sure everything was how we wanted as the construction progressed. They were very flexible with changes to the plans and made honest recommendations on how we could save some money as well as what we should not skimp on. They were all very professional, skilled and took their time to do things the right way. He earned a customer for life. We are so happy with the end product and would highly recommend BJ in the future. BJ also didn't hesitate to help us out months after the construction. Our shower faucets had a drip after turning them off. He came out and inspected them and told us how we could get the manufacturer to send replacement parts that would fix the issue. I forgot to mention that I had 2 other quotes for $17,500 and $22,000 for this same project. Both of these included me purchasing the tile on my own. The $12,000 from BJ included me purchasing the tile, vanity ($1,000), counter & sinks ($1,500) and fixtures ($1,000). Still a great deal!

The project went great. Tim and the rest of the guys were great to work with. They were on time every morning and worked hard throughout the day. Paint isn't very exciting so there isn't much to say, but they got the whole house done as expected and it looks great. Tim encouraged me to walk around the house at different times of the day to make sure everything was covered as different light can show spots differently. I found some areas that needed more attention and they were right on it. Same with the cracks. They did a good job with setup and cleanup also. They also noticed that a weather strip on the garage door needed to be replaced and took care of it. Other estimates I received were from $7500-12,000. Another great project by BJ!

I reached out to BJ because I needed help quickly to remove a stove that was producing a strong gas smell for my renters. When I spoke to BJ he told me he just happened to have an extra stove on hand that he was going to sell. I told him I would buy it from him and asked if he could deliver it to my property, hook it up, and remove the old one for me. I knew this was not a typical situation you would call a licensed contractor for, but I was in a tight spot. Just prior to getting to my house, the renters mentioned that their door was not closing properly which I was not aware of. When BJ reached my house with the replacement stove (used, but a huge upgrade from the old one) he delivered, installed and proceeded to fix the front door. This was not a simple adjustment. He had to plane and sand down the threshold in order to allow the door to close properly. He also took the old stove for me which would have been a pain for me to dispose of. When BJ completed the job, he texted me to let me know he finished so that I could notify the father of one of my renters. I was so grateful he stopped what he was working on to help me with such short notice that he saved me big on not having to go search for a replacement stove or to have me worry about how I was going to dispose of the old stove, I was prepared to pay him whatever he asked. He responded by letting me know he did not want my money and that he appreciates the opportunity to help me out. Now that is how I define a great business man. BJ is truly a skilled professional and a pretty nice guy. I look forward to working with him on other projects I will have in the future.

I switched contractors main stream due to pricing adjustments escalating with my original contractor. I was very comfortable with previous contractor, but was concerned the subcontractors he was using were not cost effective. My concerns turned out to be real. I reached out to BJ through Angie's List to ask for a bid so that I could compare costs. He came out and gave me my bid which turned out to be considerably lower in costs than my previous contractor bid. However, the scope of work BJ bid on was smaller than my original contractor scope. I knew I would have change orders once we got started and I was hoping those change orders did not surpass the original contractor bid I received previously. I signed the contracts and gave BJ the work. I had 60 days to complete before may renters were moving in so I was a little concerned with finishing on time. BJ was finishing off a previous job and was not able to start for two to three weeks after I signed the contract. Although I was a little nervous, BJ kept assuring me he would get it done within the time frame I needed. Once he shifted his focus to my home, the process really moved along and he was out and done before my renters moved in. BJ and his team are professional and very concerned with client expectations. The quality of the work was exceptional. My projects turned out better than we were hoping and BJ was awesome at giving my wife and I advice and direction on colors and placement of accessories. Most important, I feel he did not nickel and dime me on change orders and additional work beyond the original scope. His overall costs came in lower than my original bid and the scope turned out to be larger than the original bid from my first contractor. I feel many contractors take advantage of the homeowners when change orders are required because we do not have options at that point. BJ did not take advantage. I feel I got a better quality job, more completed, a better buying experience, all at a lower cost. BJ made me look smart! With all of the various projects BJ was coordinating on my house, we had only one miss communication during the whole process. I expected all of the exterior trim paint to be completed in the scope of work, but BJ only scoped out the main house and excluded the guest cottage. Although our expectations were not the same, BJ took it upon himself to cover the additional painting expense required to meet my expectations. I was very pleased he placed the client first. Again, many contractors I have dealt with have had a hard time absorbing costs or responsibility and want to deflect it back to the customer. Not BJ! I have other properties I plan on doing major renovations to and I hope I have the opportunity to work with BJ and the whole William Birchard crew again.

Richard (BJ) was one of the few persons on Angies list able or willing to respond to my request for estimates. He came and took a look at my Kitchen and we discussed the scope of the project and my budget. He was very pleasant to talk with, had lot of good ideas and a lot of good reviews on Angies list. About a week later he emailed his proposal which was very detailed, but it was way too high for my budget, so we re-discussed ways to trim the cost. He came back with a few more proposals, but in the end his costs and the kitchen cabinet selection/cost were still too pricey for me. I ultimately found another provider that could give me a more affordable proposal. I felt confident that BJ would of done a great job and was sorry we couldn't move forward.
