Valley Development Corp

General Remodeling, Garage and Shed Building, Solar Panels,

About us

We have been building custom homes and performing all types of remodeling projects in Tucson since 1984. We have 2 employees and use subcontractors, but you deal directly with the owner. We are licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, #259884, KB-02 Residential and Commercial General Contractor. We provide free estimates. We employ a 2-step estimating process: 1) We provide a free rough estimate based on the initial interview and site visit, and, if you find this estimate acceptable, 2) We provide a free firm price proposal based on the design documents and product selections. Prior to signing the firm price proposal and contract, we charge you nothing for the estimate and proposal process - you pay only for any outside direct costs such as third party designer or architect costs, if any, third party engineering costs, if any, and any 3rd party reproduction costs. We are now installing photovoltaic solar panels for some of our construction clients. It's gratifying to be producing electricity with no moving parts while shading a portion of your roof. We are a Tucson business and we buy solar panels and racking hardware built right here in Tucson. We do not ship our parts in from China. We look forward to serving you. We are totally committed to making sure that each and every client is happy with the service that they receive from Valley Development. Give us a call - the owner will answer the phone. :) Best Regards, Bob

Description of Work: Bob Zammit's company rebuilt our back patio structure, maintains all aspects and details of its hacienda-style design. His workers were courteous, prompt and meticulous. We are very pleased with the outcome and equally pleased by the process.

Bob Zammit was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely professional every step of the way. He listened, offered suggestions, and worked with us to complete a project that turned out better than we expected that it would. He worked with our existing plan and with our architect when it was necessary to make adjustments. Bob safeguarded our key and we felt confident the entire 6 weeks the project took. We were impressed with the precautions, niceties, and cleaning service he factored into the project. Even though remodels on such a small scale aren?t Bob?s main focus, he treated the job as if it were. We highly recommend his company.

I called for some work on my back porch and let him know that if this went well, I had other work to be done. He gave me some info on material options and I requested an estimate. We exchanged emails a few times and I gave up trying to get an estimate from him
Description of Work: he was unresponsive after his visit and request for an estimate

Response from Valley Development Corp
I am sorry you felt this way. We proposed a T1-11 or cementious siding material to be installed on your 700 sq ft patio ceiling, which had a history of leaking. However, you requested beadboard, not the materials that we proposed. We did a fair amount of research to determine the best solution for your goal, at no cost to you. I felt that the pvc beadboard would probably be the best product, as it would stand up best to any future leaking of your very flat roof slope, but it was expensive for both material and installation. You asked if we were uncomfortable doing the work as we did not have experience installing the pvc beadboard material, and I stated that we had concerns about its ability to not sag in our extreme desert heat. My attempts to obtain information from the manufacturer were unproductive. Quite frankly, even an assurance from the manufacturer that sagging would not be a problem in the desert would not have satisfied me, never having installed this material. I admit that I did not follow up and state clearly that I refused the job, but, I felt that there was a tacit admission in that I had concerns about pvc sagging and had no experience installing it. When I stated that using the pvc material could easily drive the quote over $10,000 based on a material cost of $5.00 - $10.00 per sq ft, you sought clarification from me. I got the impression that this number exceeded your budget (if I misinterpreted this, then that's my mistake). When you asked me if I was uncomfortable doing this sort of job, I stated my concerns. This entire process played out over 1 month, one week of which you were out of town, and, again, at no cost to you.

They did an excellent and very professional job in pouring the slab and assembling the storage shed. They were very communicative and made sure they knew what we were expecting. They delivered!!!
Description of Work: They created and poured a 5'x7' cement pad. They assembled a storage shed that we had previously purchased. They secured the shed to the slab upon completion of project.

Quick to respond and easy to work with. Translated our needs into a quotation that was very fair. They squeezed us into their schedule as we were on a very tight timeframe. Everyone was very professional and courteous. The work was done off hours and they were flexible in working with us. The job was done for just slightly more than the quote. The additions to the work we selected were solutions to unforseen challenges in the job and those changes only added slightly to the cost and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. This was a commercial job and I am so pleased that I hope to use this firm for some renovations planned for my home. I would rate this company a 9 out of 10 (and there is no such thing as a 10). We were a demanding customer and they really bent over backwards to accomodate our office manager.

He and his subs are a pleasure to work with. They are professional in every respect. His planning is meticulous and he keeps the customer in the loop at all times. His solar panel installation (22 panels) was 100 percent correct the first time. The city inspector could not find a single item which required correction. He stated that that was most unusual. You can't go wrong with Bob.
Description of Work: Bob Zammit installed a new shower enclosure in our master bath, to replace the completely inadequate fiberglass stall that was installed by the builder. He also installed a 4.9 kW photovoltaic array on my roof, which has eliminated my electric bills.

I am very pleased with Bob Zammitt and Valley Development Corp. I got several estimates, and theirs was the lowest, and he had a well-considered plan for how to enclose the area while blending it in to the existing house. They showed up promptly on the appointed first day and we signed the contract, and they immediately began work. Bob seemed like a very experienced builder who understood what was underneath the existing structure, and within a few days they had the existing pillars removed. After that progress slowed a bit as he had to call in various different suppliers, but within a couple of weeks the new wall was built and the doors were in place. Our lives were minimally interrupted as they kept the area clean and livable at the end of each work day. Everything was exactly as the original design had specified. Bob even managed to find a guy to do integral paint stucco to seamlessly match the color and texture to the existing house. The doors are beautiful. They did the trim in the paint colors I requested, and it was done with care and precision. The final result is gorgeous, it looks exactly as we had originally envisioned and it blends seamlessly into the house. The only minor beef was that the original estimated timeframe was two weeks but it took more than twice that time- but anyone who's done remodeling projects knows that this is par for the course. I will definitely call Valley Development again if I have any remodeling projects.
Description of Work: We enclosed an open breezeway with a new frame-stucco wall with 4 custom double glass doors. It was a start-to-finish project, including tearing down existing pillars (non load-bearing), building the frame, ordering and installing the doors, redoing the stucco, matching the paint, and doing all the trim work.
