Description of Work: After showing up 45 minutes late for our appointment, I was promised an estimate would arrive within 24 hours via email for window replacement for my house. It is now two weeks later and I have not received an email or a follow up call.

Description of Work: I ordered door hardware (knob/lever and deadbolt) 6/16/2011 and paid in full. I was told the items would be available within a week. I subsequently received four calls telling me the the order would be in "tomorrow", "monday", etc. and finally was notified of availability 6/30/2011. By that time, a brother-in-law had replaced the hardware with Lowe's-bought products so that the high traffic door could be used. Tucson Windows and Doors cited their "just go away" return policy and , although I have no use for the new equipment and have no mechanism for selling or returning it to the manufacturer, will make no allowance for their delay and promises made. So here I am with unopened boxes, a $110 charge, and disappointment regarding their "customer service".

Response from Tucson Windows And Doors
The customer did in fact sign a contract with Tucson Window and Door purchasing a hardware set for his existing door. Upon ordering Tucson Window and Door was told by its manufacturer that the hardware would be received within a week. Our manufacturer did in fact back order the customers hardware and we made the customer aware of what was happening at every moment we received notice from our manufacturer. Even though the customer had a contract with us, he took it upon himself to get hardware installed by a third party. This was without notice to us, the customer did not call and try to cancel his order. When the parts came in the customer was notified and he said he would come into our office to pay and pick up the hardware. Upon his arrival to our office he explained that he already replaced the hardware and felt he did not have to fulfill his contract with Tucson Window and Door. We explained our 3 day right of rescission that had already passed and we asked the customer to pay in full for the hardware we ordered. In turn the customer received the upgraded hardware he purchased.

Spent multiple hours at the showroom attempting to obtain a bid in excess of $6k for both windows and doors. The salesman's presentation was excellent and the products offered appeared to be of high quality. Left behind a complete schedule including detailed descriptions of windows and doors needed. After 10 days we had yet to receive the bid. A call was made to the salesperson who promised the bid the next working day. Several days later another message was left without response.

I recently had a salesman drop by for a pitch and estimate. To start, he was 35 minutes late (he called in advance to let me know at least). He was there for two hours and actually did a great job of selling the product, unfortunately, he also spent about half his time bad-mouthing any competitor he could think of. It speaks volumes about your company if you have to talk bad about other companies to sell your product. Overall, the price was $900-$1000 more than Home Depot and the warranties were very comparable, and (to me at least) so were the windows. The biggest difference was that with TW&D, the warranty is only transferrable after you pay a $75 fee, HD had no such stipulation. After cancelling my order, TW&D immediately called back and offered to match the price of HD, confirming the notion that they are over-priced. They then called back twice and left a voicemail after the second call. The salesman immediately bad-mouthed HD and said "good luck getting them in (the windows) on time for the credit, you're gonna need it." I've never dealt with a company that was so harsh of a critic, especially not one that got angry at me and basically called me an idiot for choosing anyone else. If the service is this bad before the install, how bad would it be dealing with the company during/after?? If it weren't for the tax credit ending soon, I would spend a little more time researching companies for the best one, but I am under a time crunch now. If nothing else, at least threaten to cancel/not buy from TW&D and you will likely see them drop the price pretty significantly. - Glad I chose the competition

True to the warranty, TW&D came and replaced the locking mechanism free of charge. It took two visits to get it accomplished. ON the first visit, they returned the existing lock to working order so that I could lock the door but it had been bent so they said they would order a replacement. On the second visit, the service man (Mike?) replaced it and made sure the whole door and screen were in good working order. He also checked all my other windows to make sure the mechanisms were in good shape and gave me a refresher course in using the "breeze" function that allows me to have the windows open just a bit but still locked. I was very pleased with the timely response and the service.
Description of Work: Tucson Windows & Doors installed all new double pane sliding windows and one sliding glass door in my 1958 house about four years ago. I recently got broken into through the sliding glass door. I called TW&D to fix the mangled lock mechanism which the burglars pried off.

Very well. They were the only company that could offer color frames for the windows that matched our exterior view (important for maintaining historic status). The lead time for the windows was long (about six weeks), but when they arrived, the windows were perfect, and the installation went very well. Very professional operation. Not the cheapest in town but very good at what they do.

We wanted to take advantage of the tax credits last year for energy-efficient glass. Our old windows were original with our 1967 house. They were single-pane glass with aluminum frames. You could feel a lot of heat through the glass, and air leaking in and out through gaps between the sliding portions of the windows. We got estimates from several different companies. We finally decided on Tucson Windows and Doors because they were a larger company that also does doors, and they gave us a lock-in rate to replace our front door and French doors in the great room. The price was quite a bit more than our other choice, and I'm not sure we made the best pick for that reason. If we had talked to Tucson Windows and Doors before the other company, our choice might have gone the other way for reason of price. That said, we are very happy with the service and the products we received. From the time we ordered to the time everything was done took about 3 weeks. Most of that was waiting for the windows to be ordered and sized. The whole installation process took only 2 days once they started. They took off our burglar bars and replaced them as part of the service. They even had to cut off some of the iron on the burglar bars for one of the sliding glass doors, and they did a great job of that. Everything fits great and we're happy with the quality. We have double-pane glass with vinyl frames and all-metal locking mechanisms. They gave us everything we needed for the tax credits, which made tax time a lot easier. Would definitely recommend as a solid company. You might be able to get a better price elsewhere, but you can always fall back to Tucson Windows and Doors for reliability and quality.
Description of Work: We had 4 windows and 3 sliding glass doors installed as replacements for our old single-pane, aluminum frame windows and sliding doors. The company did the estimate, removed the old windows and doors, and installed the new ones.

I could not be more pleased.
Description of Work: Existing windows replaced with energy efficient ones. Two large ones and two smaller ones. It was a special order that took about 4 weeks between purchase and installation. Great sales (Chris) and installation. Chris made some excellent suggestions for minor changes that have made a significant improvement. The installation only took one day for removal of the old and finished placement of the new. The workmen cleaned the area upon completion and returned some furniture to their original place.

Tucson Window and Doors was right on in terms of expense and time estimates. They were very professional in their dealings with us. My only complaint was that the initial in-home presentation/estimate was way too long, and didn't get to the nitty gritty (cost, time frame, comparison to other windows on the market) until 90 minutes into the meeting. Also, the initial estimate was fairly high, when told of other estimates, their price dropped by 20% immediately. But the company was true to their word, there were no hidden costs, and there were nice extras thrown in. The company seemed to have integrity and did quality work. The installation was done exactly on-time, and the crew did an excellent job, particularly with some difficult special areas.

Augie Suarez came to my house on TIME...he show us the product and give us details of the lifetime warranty and also measure all windows and doors and help us to set up a plan to replace all windows and door in our house at our own phase...also offer the financing program. The project took 5 weeks to be done and the installation was great and clean. WE LOVE IT and these windows make a huge difference in our house.
