I contacted Mr. Chris Edwards of Tucson Appliance personally to do business with Tucson Appliance Company. I respect what Mr. Edwards does for our community and wanted to do business with him. Did I ever make a mistake. They showed me a chest freezer tucked back into a corner of a display room. His sales manager discounted it which was appreciated and not requested by me. They represented my purchase as "new" and gave no indication it was an open box item. I completed the purchase for over $500. When the employee wheeled it out to my vehicle, it was already unboxed and not what I wanted them to do so I could protect it on the way home in the back of a pick up truck. I asked him why they unboxed it and he told me they "just" did it. As the employee started to load it, I noticed it had numerous smudges and scuffs on the exterior of it. I questioned what this was if this thing was "brand new" and "just out of the box" and already dinged if they "just unboxed it." Reasonable questions and concerns for me to express. I immediately tried to call Mr. Edwards but received no answer (he was not at the store by the time I arrived). I texted him my disappointed in him and this purchase process. I got a reply saying that when he watched them "unbox" it just prior to my arrival it looked fine. The manager "Larry" stated almost exactly the same thing Edwards and the other employee did when I called them out on this issue. This all sounded a scripted, well rehearsed, automatic or trained response. When the manager "Larry" looked at it he offered to discount the freezer even more, to which I responded I did not want to do business with them and to refund the purchase. He did so without issue and apologized, reiterating that "just" before I arrived and they unboxed it that it was "fine." No explanation as to how the damage occurred was ever given. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed in my first and last experience with Tucson Appliance Company. I later texted Mr. Edwards to say if he would like to try and make a positive out of this negative experience that he should feel free to call me. To his credit he did so. However, instead of simply apologizing for not meeting my basic expectations and pledging to do better if I ever gave him and his company another chance, Mr. Edwards opted to argue with me about this freezer and the process. I pointed out to him that this was quite presumptive of him to assume I would purchase that very freezer and unbox it for me prior to my arrival. He continued to talk over me and tell me what a "hefty" discount he offered. It was obvious to me that he missed the point of my message that strong business ethics, honesty and respect are more important than any discount would ever be. Additionally, it is my strong belief that Mr. Edwards and his employees were not truthful about just un-boxing this freezer prior to my arrival as they knew I was on my way to his store. Common sense would tell them not to go to the trouble to tuck the rather larger chest freezer back into the corner of the display room all tight against the other appliances for sale knowing a potential customer would be there within the hour to view it. Not very smart on their part and perhaps the very reason the freezer was scuffed and blemished if in fact this were true. In closing, if Mr. Edwards reads this review, I would like to point out to him that "hefty" is also a popular brand of over priced garbage bags and he should be leery of marketing his sales deals that way. But then again, his use of this term is also quite conversely appropriate when I boil it all down.
Description of Work: Sold me a chest freezer (briefly).

My mother bought a brand new kitchen suite that included a refrigerator with a faulty icemaker. She tried for - no - exaggeration here - 11 months to get them to fix it correctly. They have replaced the unit but they nickeled and dimed her the whole time.

I have a home warranty currently with Landmark. I paid to include coverage on the washer/dryers in my rental properties. Because the stackable washer/dryer is ONE piece (the washer and the dryer are not separately stacked), Landmark would not cover the replacement. I needed a comparable, one piece, stackable washer and dryer. I first went to Christie's who enjoys a good reputation. The unit was priced at $1299.00 and would take a week to order and deliver. I called Sears and they had the unit for $1298.00. Although I heard negative things about Tucson Appliance, I decided to give them a try. They had the same unit priced at $1,049.00 with next day delivery. The unit was delivered, installed, and my tenant is thrilled with the unit. I am going to give Tucson Appliance an excellent recommedation and would use them again.

Bought a scratch/dent chest freezer. Lasted about 14 months before it failed. Went to Tucson Appliance with problem - answer - should have bought an extended service plan. Would send technician for $80.00 for first hour then $1.00 per minute thereafter. Called a factory authorized repair company. Their charge - $59.00/ hr - complete estimate for repair if it takes longer. Hired this company. They arrived & diagnosed the problem as an unrepairable coolant leak. Also, that not only was this a scratch/dent product, but that evidence showed that it had been repaired once before. Wrote to Tucson Appliance about what repair service found. Received phone call from "a manager" who said that he would get back to me in a few days. It has now been several weeks - still have not heard from Tucson Appliance. Not a good "local" company - next appliance purchase will be from a "big box store".
Description of Work: sold what turned out to be a scratch/dent freezer that had been repaired. never informed that it had been repaired. Freezer failed a few months out of warranty. diagnosed as "unrepairable".

Response from Tucson Appliance Company LLC
This freezer was purchased almost 3 years ago. Mr. Rukasin refused to let us inspect the unit and he says he disposed of it. Without inspecting the unit there is no way to verify his statements. We have not heard about this for 2 years. He was advised that there would be nothing that we could do without the original unit.

Description of Work: We waited 2 weeks for service to our refrigerator (we were without one in our kitchen during this time). We used the spare one in the garage. Once they came and looked at it and replaced a motor part, but said there was another part we needed; and we waited 2 more weeks. Come to find out the "part" was a filter that we normally replaced ourselves and could have run out and got ourselves at HOME DEPOT. When I called and spoke with one of the people at the office they were very ugly about it - because I was upset about the fact that we could have had a working refrigerator had the repairman just told us what "part" was needed...and we could have gone and gotten it and installed it ourselves.

We have a MasterCool evap cooler on our roof. We were preparing it for the season about a month ago & discovered that, although all the mechanical parts seemed to be working, we weren't getting any airflow into the house. I called Tucson Appliance the next Monday, which was about a month ago. I called them because we had purchased the unit from them about six years ago & they had installed it and serviced it when we needed it. I explained to the clerk on the phone what the issue was. She responded that the service man was out on a job & that the wait for service might be as long as 2 weeks, but she would give the person my phone number & have him call me. I waited 2 weeks for a call & none came. I called them back & explained what the issue was again & this was the second call after 2 weeks & no one had returned the first call. She apologized & said she would get a hold of the person right away & he would call me right back. Nothing. Again, 2 weeks passed. Finally, I went down to the store, into the office & explained the situation in front of 3-4 people. Oh, they didn't know why he wouldn't have called me back. I explained that we thought the problem might be the thermostat, & if I could just order that, we could probably do the installation ourselves. A person then said, extremely rudely, "Well, we don't sell parts here. You have to go to Naughton's for that. We only sell the units." I was floored. So, I left thinking, great--could they have mentioned this? Could someone have RETURNED MY CALL??? Now we are 6 weeks into the hot season & still have nothing to show for it.Next day, i went to Naughton's to order the part. The guy looks at it & says, "We can't order that for you. MasterCool went out of business 2 years ago & we can't get parts now." He also said he could find something else, but it would require a rewiring into the unit. Okay--REALLY?? So, Tucson Appliance couldn't have told me this?? A month ago?? I was mad, & went down to Tucson Appliance to complain. The rude lady wasn't there, but I asked to see a manager. A guy comes out--hard to tell if he was a manager. He didn't identify himself, but he seemed knowledgeable enough. I mainly laid out my complaint--right in the office area. The guy said, "The office people wouldn't know that MasterCool went out of business." I'm thinking--sure, a major appliance you used to sell, but no one there would know that the company went out of business. I stated my doubts. He tried to justify everything they had done (wrong!), & I finally said, "If the technician would have called me & been honest, I would have been satisfied & found someone to service it." Because, since they no longer sell the units, "we're kind of out of the business of servicing coolers," said the manager guy. Okay--so lies, lies, & BS. It's just astonishing the lack of customer service & courtesy that I received from Tucson Appliance. I told them that I would put low ratings on the Web & hoped that they would lose customers because of it. If a company is going to compete today, they need to learn top-notch customer service--or Good Riddance!
Description of Work: No service was performed--but I was looking for service. See story, below.

They are pretty straightforward and honest. They have all sorts of appliances, some new and some that were damaged in shipping, and the damaged ones are very reasonably priced and have a new warranty.

Our refrigerator broke and we needed to replace it as soon as possible. We were working with an odd kitchen space, so we needed a cabinet-depth french door refrigerator that was in-stock. We were deciding between a few models and a few appliance stores. We were about to leave Tucson Appliance Company and look someplace else when the salesman offered to match the price of a competitor on the model that we liked the best. We asked if it was new and in-box and could be delivered this weekend. He assured us that this was the case. When the refrigerator was delivered, it was clearly the floor model. There were sticker marks on the front and scratches on the side. We immediately contacted the manager at the store that day, and he was reluctant to offer us compensation and did not seem concerned with out situation. After some discussion of our frustration, he agreed to a 10% discount. Considering that many of the other floor models in the store were deeply discounted and that we had been lied to by the salesperson, this was a less than satisfactory outcome.

We called them several months ago. The repairman came out, moved a hose and left. We called him back, he looked at it and said he was ordering new motors. A week later he came back and installed the motors. It still didn't work. He came out again and told us to use a different detergent. We tried every detergent available. We were then told by the service manager that they would try to replace it. They sent the technician out again and he said the pump was bad. He ordered it and we had to wait over two weeks for them to come replace it. The machine still doesn't work. They keep blaming the manufacturer but if I have a problem with a product from any other store, I take it back to that store; not the manufacturer. I JUST WANT MY DISHWASHER TO WORK!!!!
Description of Work: We purchased a dishwasher, range and washer/dryer from them. The dishwasher was under warranty and not working properly. We called them to service it. They have been out FIVE times, replaced almost all of the parts on the machine and it still doesn't work. They won't take it back and won't replace it and are blaming it all on the manufacturer. We have a brand new dishwasher and we've been washing dishes by hand for months.

Our washing machine died the day before my wife went on a business trip. I was very busy at my business so I called Chris Edwards to find out if I could buy a washing machine over the phone and have it delivered before my wife got back. He said he could and had his sister Colleen call me back, I told her what I wanted, my price range and when I could have my mother-in-law available to let the delivery guy in. They did everything I asked with speed and efficiency. I will be using Tucson Appliance again.

We asked for the earliest delivery as possible, which ended up being 4 days due to "busy-ness" of the installer and a weekend. Installer arrived as planned on Monday, discovered hookup problems and did not have the tools/parts with him to adapt. Said he would come back the next day. Salesman called us the next day to say that installer was too busy to come and it would be the following day. We're now at 7 days. Installer did arrive as stated and did a quick, clean, professional job. We paid for the extra parts. Unacceptable delays, otherwise, fine.

My husband, I, and our 3 kids came back the next day to look again at machines. Freddie helped us again, very patiently going over the same questions again. He even took us the the repair shop in the back so that my mechanically inclined spouse could ask the repair techs what they thought of the machine we were considering. Wow! That was amazing service! We purchased our machine, it was delivered and installed right on time the next day. Best of all they gave our kids enormous helium balloons. I will always go to T.A. first.
Description of Work: When our old washing machine broke and would cost more to repair than was worth it, we went appliance shopping. My first and last choice was Tucson Appliance. Freddie J. met me at the door and showed me all the washing machines, answered questions truthfully and clearly. He had no problem showing me some of the scratch and dent models also. I went home, did my research online, and found that the price of a new LG front load washing machine (with 1 tiny scratch) was cheapest at T.A.
