The Helping Handyman

On 5-31-24 I requested on Angi for a pavers contractor and receive a few local ones. The Helping Hand LLC, Joshua Deatrick came out on 6-22-24 to bid the job, quoted me 3,800 roughly and I accepted. He required 2200.00 for the deposit to order the pavers and I agreed. On July 10th he text me that he was having them delivered on the 11th. Nothing was ever delivered and he quit responding to my inquires about when the job would start, as we had agreed on a finish time of 8-1-24. On July 23rd I messaged his phone a demand for my 2200.00 deposit since l was never given an agreement and he then send me one by text that was for 4417.26 and electronically forged my signature to it. Then he responded that he wasn’t going to refund me anything. I thought by giving him a couple weeks to reconsider he would realize he has no right to forge my signature and keep my deposit, however I have received no correspondence from him.

Bottom line up front: Save yourself the trouble and hire someone else. The Company is unreliable, unprofessional, and has shown a complete lack of communication and responsibility. We hired Joshua Deatrick on July 25 for various tasks, including grout work, painting, replacing baseboards, and landscaping. We paid 75% upfront as agreed, but the '5-day' job was delayed repeatedly. He didn’t even start for a week, then claimed issues came up. Despite concerns, we continued since we already paid. On August 15, we gave him the remaining 25% because he said he ran out of money and couldn’t afford to buy the remaining supplies for the job. By August 19, he claimed to have completed interior work but was waiting on landscaping rocks. As of August 29, baseboards remain unfinished, grout unsealed, and the backyard incomplete. Joshua hasn't responded to our messages for 10 days. We now have to hire someone else to finish the job. He vanished with our money. Find a different handyman.

Unprofessional, smug, and curt. Joshua required me to pay in full for work up front. Was supposed to remove the shower, tub, toilet, vanity, add support joists as needed, replace subfloor as needed, then put it all back and install vinyl tile. He removed the tub and shower liner but waited per my request so I could see if insurance would cover. Then when I went to schedule him to finish the pre-paid work, he gave a vague answer and did not commit to a date. The same happened for the following week. I also had to haul away the toilet and tub which he left on my tenant's porch. When trying to schedule the second week and he could not commit I asked for a refund. He responded basically by saying none of this was his fault. Said I was uncommunicative. Unwilling to work with me. So I disputed the entire portion of the bathroom job with my credit card company. He said I would not win and he would block my number. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY.

It went very well. He was friendly and price was reasonable. Did all work we requested. Very professional. Will definitely use him again!

It went well. He did a good job. The work was challenging but he was able to finished it in a few hrs.

Josh was a great technician. Did a good job. He’s very polite very professional very courteous and great patriot I appreciate his attention to detail and he was very Task. It is a great company with your operation and I would highly recommend him for any job. He repaired the skylights in a very time, efficient manner, and with a lot of attention to detail. I lost my two skylights from a 65 -70 mph vertical plenty rien draft And it blew out three of my skylights of my workshop .God bless him and your corporation.

Joshua, did a very good job he worked through any problems that may have a rise with this job and got it done. We definitely call him back again for anything else that we may need done.

Great quick and easy and cleaned up when done

Joshua was very knowledgeable and helpful with ideas to improve my property. He sprayed the weeds explaining it would take a few days to work. It did work after a week, however I need someone willing to pull weeds and rake to clean up the yard before starting another project.

Horrible

We did a doggie door for my fur kids and he was very fast and very friendly with me. He did great work even though it was something that could be done fast he did do a great job installing the door. Overall I am very pleased with the work he did.

Joshua arrived and I gave him my long list . He breezed through it. He assembled a shelf and attached it to the wall. Hung 2 jersey display boxes. And hung 2 curtain rods. It doesn't seem like a lot but it was and I forgot to turn on the fan. Poor guy suffered without complaint. The price was reasonable. My husband had knee surgery and we are so grateful to Joshua for his help. TY

The jerk stole my money. He did NO work

Josh was very communicative, precise, on time, and worked non stop until it was done. Came across a lot of obstacles during the job but was able to pivot easily. Great demeanor and service. Would definitely use him again.

It went fine. That went fine. The problem was that I paid another time for them to do a work for me but they haven't showed up till now.

Joshua did several tasks, was thorough, and did excellent work for a reasonable price. He was knowledgeable in all areas of requested assistance. I would and am hiring him again. Thank you Josh!
