When my husband called this company, he gave them the information stated above, and told them that we were packing part but not everything. The fellow he talked to said that was fine. "We will do whatever is needed." They did not send anyone out to look at the household, nor ask any detailed questions about items that needed to be moved. My husband hired them anyway, because he wanted to have a local, family owned firm. That was a mistake. When they arrived and I told the man in charge that we had packed just about everything, but had some things left over, he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "We have to pack things? I didn't bring any packing materials." I probably should have just sent them away at that point, but I was tired and wanted to get the move done. The man called his partner, who came over shortly with packing materials. Meanwhile the younger men (sons, I assume) efficiently loaded furniture into their truck, although they did not wrap it as I have seen other movers do. There were numerous problems with their packing. 1) they reused old boxes without crossing out the previous labels (bedroom, office, etc.) and without putting any identification as to what the box contained or what room it came from. 2) They jumbled together breakables with other objects without wrapping them. (For instance a computer monitor was set in the bottom of a box and other items piled around it with no cushioning to protect the monitor.) 3) They left without packing and taking everything that needed to be moved. The worst example is that they left a rug lying in the middle of the living room floor. That made it difficult to set up furniture in the living room at the new place. The guy who was apparently the father, again expressed disbelief when I told him that there were potted plants to move. Without having asked any questions previously, he assumed that since we were moving to an apartment, we could not be moving potted plants. When they arrived at the apartment and started unloading, because the boxes they packed had not been labeled, there was no way to know where they were supposed to go. I said, "Just be sure that all the kitchen boxes go into the kitchen, because I want to set that up first." After everything was unloaded, and I was signing the paperwork, I checked a bedroom and discovered two boxes clearly labeled "kitchen." There excuse was that they thought it was an old designation. I will admit that they did not break anything, and nothing appears to have gone missing. Plus the young men were very quick and efficient in loading and unloading the truck. However, the cost ran twice what they had estimated because they had not bothered to get information on which to base their estimate. Plus, they cost me many hours of packing the things that they had left behind, and trying to find things in their randomly packed items. My biggest complaint besides the fact they did not move everything was actually was the attitude displayed by the older man who acted as though the mistakes were somehow our fault rather than their company's.
