They were pretty responsive. I would absolutely not use them in the future. We worked with a landscape designer who listened to not with us. We told her what we were looking for. We trusted her on choosing plants that were suitable for our climate. A lot of plants died. Some of that was secondary to her plant choice. Some of that was secondary to the fact that they installed the irrigation incorrectly which we discovered too late. Because of the irrigation that was installed incorrectly, they ended up killing one of the plants that was in the yard for a very long time that they did not put in. We were very disappointed.

They are wonderful. They put in a lot of effort and everything came out well. They are very responsible. The owner name is Chris Niccum. He is excellent. Shelly Ann Abbott did the design work and she works for the Botanical gardens. She is exemplary. They are very complete and wanted to make sure that I was pleased before leaving. The workmen came in and cleaned up any mess that they made. Everything was very professional. It was pricey, but a worthy investment.

It was awesome from beginning to end. We got two other bids. One was a little lower and one was a lot higher. We chose Sonoran Gardens because of our first point of contact: Matt, one of the owners. He was personable, down to earth, knowledgeable and he wasn't trying to sell us more than we wanted. He had great ideas along the entire process and helped us determine where we could cut costs and where we shouldn't. After they were paid their final check, they came back several times to help us trouble shoot and fix various problems (brand new houses are full on them). Many times at no extra charge. The crew worked hard, the job forman, Alex, was great and Matt kept in close contact to make sure everything was going according to our satisfaction. Sounds corny, but Sonoran Gardens has helped make our home a sanctuary.

I called around and realized I could do this for much cheaper (Concrete for $3000 instead of the $7700 quoted, etc.). I called them back and explained the situation and gave them a chance to re-bid for a lower price. They explained that they paid their workers a livable wage but that they would rework the bid. One month and no response. I called again and gave them the chance. Nothing for another month. I went with Northwest Landscaping for $11k less.

They were reliable and they showed up on time. We think they were cheaper than other companies because they brought in small plants. It was in the middle of the summer and we asked if it was too hot to plant but some of them died and had to be replaced several times. Some of the plants that the landscape architect chose didn’t seem right for this climate. They put a soil on top of everything that other experts told us they shouldn’t have used. I don’t think we will use them again.

not impressed

The wall was exactly what I wanted. The original plan called for three steps to the elevated area. Once the job was underway, it was discovered that three steps wouldn't be adequate. The sub-contractor (mason) was insisting on three steps as designed. Sonoran Gardens supervisor advised him to add the fourth step because sometimes once jobs are underway, modifications become necessary. The sub was unhappy, but did modify the plans. I'm thankful that Sonoran Gardens personnel listen to their customers and work with them to attain the desired outcome. Sonoran Garderns personnel were going to haul off the extra dirt. Being a miserly person, I requested that they pile the extra dirt in an unused area of the yard, to which they agreed. This was quite fortuitous as the dirt has settled and the excess dirt is available to raise the elevation to its original height.

In a word ... fantastic! Paul, their landscape architect, did a great design for us after working with us to understand the various possibilities and help us sharpen our own ideas about what we wanted done. He provided early cost estimates that proved to be reasonably accurate and allowed us to make good decisions on how to proceed. He stayed with the project through its completion some weeks later, checking in with us on a regular basis and making sure that all our questions and concerns were being addressed. Sonoran Gardens appointed a project manager, Matt. He managed and coordinated all the work and did an excellent job of keeping the project on track, anticipating issues and resolving anything that came up along the way. He communicated with us frequently with updates, getting our input, and generally keeping us well-informed and comfortable. He was at the site frequently and we always felt things were being well-managed. There were absolutely no surprises and the work was very high quality in all aspects of the job. When problems occurred, he was always on top of them, providing quick and effective solutions. For example, the metal fence was one of the last tasks on the project. When the fence subcontractor became overloaded on another job and was looking at delays, Matt first tried expediting him and when that didn't work, he quickly brought in an alternative subcontractor to get the job done, and done well. The people working for Sonoran Gardens as well as the subcontractors were all very professional and excellent craftsman. In additon, they were all a pleasure to work with. This was true of the landscapers, the masons, the electricians, the plumbers, the hot tub installers and the fencing crew. Not only did they all produce high quality work, they seemed to take a lot of pride in what they did. They also kept the site very clean and organized. There was never any clutter or debris left lying around, and when the project was finished, our property was left in first-class condition. All the trash and waste materials from the project disappeared without a trace and without any effort on our part. We don't really have any reference points regarding the cost. I'm sure there are cheaper companies around, but we feel we got excellent value for our money ... and there were no cost surprises at any time. In the end, we love the finished product and are very pleased that we chose Sonoran Gardens to do this work.

Great. Roberta listened to our ideas and came up with a terrific design. Construction dates were kept, work was done on time, and workers cleaned up after themselves. We discovered we needed a permit due to special circumstances, and they handled the whole process quickly and efficiently. When the dirt settled and lowered the ground level, they returned in a timely matter to fix the situation at no extra cost. Highly recommend Sonoran Gardens.

Was happy with the design and professionalism of work crew and project manager. Response time fell off a bit when I needed some additional things tended to after the work was complete.

I hired their landscaping designer for ideas. She was excellent. Chris at Sonoran Gardens was very professional. I do not have another equivalent quote from another service so I cannot compare but the price did seem quite high. They have an excellent reputation.
