+ 5 moreMy primary concern was getting this project done during a particular short time frame and while price was a consideration it was not primary. I contacted Signature Design, negotiated a price, he was willing to do the job when I wanted, and I did not get other bids. I also shopped for the items that were installed, which I also wanted to do since I was particular about those things. It also hastened the project since we did not have to spend time in lengthy discussion of tubs, fans and so forth. They did the job in four days, the area looks very good and functions well, they kept the area as clean as is possible during a reconstruction process, cleaned up when they left and checked back the following week to see if everything was all right.
Description of Work: Removed old whirl pool tub and replaced with new soaker tub, replaced faucets, installed new valve, removed old faux marble shower/tub surround, tiled shower/tub surround, tore out old drop ceiling with included fan/ light combination, installed fans in each of two bathrooms, repaired and painted walls. The cost of service above includes both their labor and the price of the items installed.

+ -1 moreRobert seems like a nice guy, but that does me no good. He missed our first appointment by not confirming in time. Missed our second appointment because he had to go to Phoenix on another job. Ok, so things happen. But then when I finally do get him out to take a look at my projects, he says he'll get back to me with an estimate in "a couple of days". I waited more than two weeks, finally called him and got voicemail. He's clearly got more business than he can handle. But one quick way to solve that problem is to treat customers and potential customers like this. Word gets around, and he may soon find that too much business is no longer an issue. If he's gonna cherry-pick only the biggest jobs, or not take new clients at all, better to just say that up front. I'm pretty busy too, and now I've lost several weeks and am back to square one.

Description of Work: The smaller bathroom in my house was entirely remodeled. The bathroom was stripped done to the studs. A beautiful tile shower was built, and all of the fixtures were replaced.

+ 0 moreWe talked about taking out the bathroom and taking it down to the studs to redo everything. We called him and he was quick to come out to look at the property. He took measurements and everything. He left and was supposed to get back to us within about 5 days with an estimate. After a week and half I called and asked what was going on, he said he was out right now and he would get to it. He was supposed to call back on a certain day and didn't. I didn't hear from him I called him back one more time. It has been months and I still haven't heard from him.
Description of Work: He came out and looked at the damage done after a water pipe leak in the bathroom and the ceiling came down.

+ -1 moreIt went well. We called Signature Design & Construction and set up an appointment with Robert to see our bathroom. We knew how we wanted it to look since we had already bought two Talavera sinks and wanted a Mexican/Mediterranean style bathroom but did not know how to make it happen. Robert came over and looked at the bathroom and we discussed how we wanted it to look and what our budget was. He worked with us on both of these issues and we were comfortable with what he proposed. He returned with a drawing of what the bathroom would look like and sent us to people he worked with to choose the tile we would need for what we wanted. We knew what kind of fixtures we wanted and had already gotten those. Robert and his partner Merik were very professional and easy to work with. We showed pictures and discussed what kind of cabinets we wanted to with a cabinetmaker that works with Robert and Merik. Our bathroom turned out to be beyond our expectations.
Description of Work: They took everything out of our old Master Bathroom and put a new one in.

+ 11 moreThe 2 bathrooms went well. They are beautiful, custom, and very elegant looking. Robert works very, very, hard and knows his business. He gave us technical suggestions, input, and ideas throughout the process to help us make our decisions. Robert and his assistant, Mirek, arrive in separate vehicles. One can arrive and begin working. The other wii arrive after making the purchases for the job materials. For certain tasks only one person is needed for several hours: such as drywall plastering, painting, etc. As hard as Robert works his assistant, Mirek, is unbelievable. In all honesty and astonishment Mirek works as hard and as fast as 5 other normal workers combined. He begins the minute he arrives and goes nonstop all day long at an unbelievable pace. We have never seen anything like it. He is so strong. His work ethic is off the charts. He works through lunch and does not stop. They both are so focused on what they are doing. They are the professionals producing 2 new bathrooms. They enjoy their work and it shows everyday. If anything was not perfect Robert redoes it - wanting only to have it exactly what you/the customer would like as the finished product. Robert told us about other projects he has completed or is currently working on. He invited us to come see his completed or in process work. He will show you anything he has done. He wants you to see his workmanship. He opens up that avenue for you as a customer. We have done the 2 bathrooms and our kitchen is next. Same story: down to the bare walls and bare floor. We have every intention to have Robert Szymcazak, Mirek, and Bruno do our kitchen, too. We have had such a positive experience with them. Robert has already invited us to come see his current kitchen project. One that is a total re-do and is a 30 day job. He loves doing kitchens especially as this is where he can really utilize his talents, skills, and professionalism. Robert recently called to check on our 2 new bathrooms. Were they working well; was there anything at all that we wanted redone. He wanted to make sure the projects were 100% perfect and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: We had Signature Design/Robert Szymczak give us a bid on completely redoing our master bathroom: down to the bare walls and the bare floors. He was prompt and professional with the estimate appointment and the written estimate. We interviewed several companies - all from Angie's List. Based on Robert's knowledge and professionalism we chose him for the job. He and his assistant, Mirek, did all the bathroom work: gutting the old bathroom contents, helping us decide on all the products to be installed, sending us to the correct sources for our choices, redoing all the new walls and insulation, new drywall and painting, all the floor tile and shower tile, the ceiling lights and vanity lights, exhaust fan, new toilet, shower and sink faucets and hardware, preparing/ painting inside a 20 foot skylight shaft, installing a point of service electrical water heater, all bathroom electrical, installing an under-mounted electrical bathroom heater, new counter and sink. Robert has another professional, Bruno, within his company that does CUSTOM cabinets. The quality of these cabinets, and pull out drawers are excellent and truly amazing. The quality was so impressive that we had Bruno design and custom build a hallway cabinet. The floor to ceiling custom oak hallway storage unit shows like a fine piece of furniture. This first project was a complete new master bathroom. It was done in 12/2012. Total time was about 2 1/2 weeks. It looks wonderful. We knew we were going to do our 2nd bathroom next... but in a few months. We were so impressed that we emailed Robert while he was out of the country and stated we wanted to get on his list for our 2nd bathroom. For Christmas he was in Europe with his family. While he in Europe and the bathroom was finished he still left us telephone numbers for his assistant and the cabinet maker in case anything happened. We did not have any problems. Robert called upon his return from Christmas holiday and we began the 2nd bathroom. Second bathroom was the same. Total gutting down to bare walls and bare floor. All the same items detailed above were installed. This bathroom had the addition of a glass block shower wall. Complete new bathroom from start to finish. Total time was about 2 weeks. This was in 01/2013. This bathroom looks completely different as different materials were chosen. Both bathrooms look outstanding. Robert is very, very, very knowledgeable about his craft/profession. He is a licensed contractor. He loves what he does and has been working in Tucson for 20 years. Robert moved to Tucson from Poland. He has a slight Polish accent. This is initially a challenge when talking to him on the telephone. It is not a problem talking to Robert in person. He speaks English 100% and communicates about the job, ideas, materials, life, etc. just fine. After a few times on the telephone the accent is no longer a challenge.

+ 7 moreThe entire job went very well overall. Robert was prompt and timely with his estimates and projections. He ALWAYS answered his phone when we called, which was very much appreciated. He helped us make decisions according to our budget. Robert and Marek were both very hard workers while on the job. They rarely, if ever, took breaks and seemed to be working constantly. They always tidied up the space before leaving for the day. There were a few delays due to a vacation, but we knew about them in advance. They were flexible with our needs and courteous to our children. We would recommend them to others and would consider using them again.
Description of Work: They performed an entire bathroom remodel, which included demolishing the old shower, cabinets, sinks, mirror, and flooring of the old bathroom and rebuilding it. They also removed a florescent light box and installed new lighting, dry-walled areas removed during demolition, and installed lights, vents, and recessed medicine cabinets. The remodel included tiling the floor, shower, and bathtub surround; installing new cabinets, sinks, and counters at a higher level than the old ones; and painting the bathroom and adjoining bedroom.

Description of Work: My job is finally complete and I am pleased with the finished result. Robert installed glass block shower wall with a slight curve, He . worked with an existing cabinet for the vaniity and installed the sink, granite and light fixtures, They also installed porcelain tile, which was already on the floor, from floor to ceiling and installed three strips of glass tiles for accent Looks great!Our biggest bump was the color of grout used for the glass tile....... I requested black which I had used in another area of my house and brown was installed. I finally fixed this myself and then Robert came back and fixed light fixtures and installed a custom shelf.I am pleased with the final results, that Robert and I were able to work out any misunderstandings that we had.

+ 5 moreI initially called 3 contractors for estimates. All 3 can out, and submitted estimates. However, Robert came back to talk to me about the project 2-3 times before submitting his estimate. He showed a genuine interest in doing the job. When I received his estimate, it was no contest, I wanted him to do the job. Robert and Merak showed up as promised and started right away. Needless to say it was a mess but they did the best they could to keep things clean ( it was not easy). They completed all the work they could but we special ordered a vanity that took a month longer that expected. Also we ordered granite vanity tops that took longer to get, so Robert and Merak had to go on to another job before completing my job. Robert promised me he would return whenever the vanity and granite top was delivered. After 3 trips back to my house the job is 100% finished. Robert and Marek were here today for the final touches. They always showed up when they said they would. Robert is very easy to talk to, and is vary accommodating. I am VERY happy at the out come and would hire Robert again.
Description of Work: Robert completely gutted my master bathroom down to the studs. He ripped up the old saltillo tile floors. He removed the old vanity, and took out the existing shower.. He installed new tile floors, and tile in the shower and bathroom walls. He installed a new toilet,vanity, and all new hardware and painted the ceiling. In the second bathroom, Robert tore out the old tub, and all tile surrounding the tub. He took out the old textured walls and redid them with smooth plaster. I kept the vanity and existing floor. He installed the new tub and fixtures. He tiled the area around the tub, and extented the tile out several feet to the vanity, which added much to the feel of the room. He installed all the new fixtures (including a new exhaust fan). He painted the entire room.

Basically drywall repair in bathroom around skylight, 3 bathrooms (small) and bedroom painted. All rooms were to be egg shell white, no colors involved, no edging would be needed to done AT ALL. I gave Robert my email contact. He never called back. Never heard from him again!

+ 5 moreRobert's bid was about 1/2 of the next lowest of 5 bids for this job. Normally, I would have been skeptical but he is very professional and had excellent reviews. I expected, and wasn't surprised when the final price was about 10% higher than bid because of "miscalculation of materials". Not a problem because I was prepared for that. I also added a couple of tasks during the job. Overall pricing value was very high. I had fairly detailed plans for my garage hobby room and the bids ranged from $3600 to $10000, with 2 bids in the $6-$7K range. I wasn't looking for a high quality showroom... just a garage hobby room. The reason for the price difference became apparent, Robert's work is very good, and he worked to the quality level I requested. He and his partner worked 10-12 hours per day for three days to get the job done, I never saw them taking a break or standing around talking. Other bidders told me they would use one or more subs and would take 2-3 weeks to get the job done. Very happy with result... these guys are dynamic!

+ 6 moreI originally talked with 4 contractors - 1 was crazy expensive, the 2nd didn't show up when scheduled & the 3rd appeared to be excellent but the quote was $2K more & a week longer to complete than Signature. Robert was on time, knowledgable with lot of ideas and gave me a bid that was very reasonable - I also liked that he said the job could be done in 4 day. When it was time to start, Robert & his partner were punctual, energetic & hard-working. They never wasted time, made excuses or complained about anything. The shower & floor are done in travatine & look GREAT & the job was completed on time & on budget. It doesn't look like the same room. I am very pleased with the bathroom & would highly recommend Signature to anyone!!

+ 7 moreHe is professional and very friendly. He is very kind, thoughtful, and listens to your ideas. He even took us with him to the tile and stone place to be able to personalize our bathroom. He takes a special interest in each client and his work is excellent. I really appreciate his work. He is a very hard worker and does an excellent job. He is very fair and did not over charge us. He brought new life to our fireplace, it looks great. I had some problems with a leak from my A/C. We hired someone else to repair it and they left holes everywhere. Robert repaired all of that; you can’t even tell where they were! I have already recommended him to two family members.
Description of Work: He redid the shower and sink in our master bathroom, in the main bathroom he redid the cabinetry, put in new lighting, and new tile around the tub and sink. He also updated the skylights for us and retiled the fireplace.

+ 7 moreI hired “Signature Design and Construction” to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. I needed new tiles in my shower and wanted to replace floor in the kitchen. I was so happy with the fact that they actually helped me with suggestions and ideas. I got very modern European style shower and bathroom at the end! They also got me good discount at the local tile store which has much better tile selection than Home Depot or Lowes. I was comfortable trusting those guys with my home. They were very accommodating to my schedule, kind and always on time. The project took 2 weeks. During the remodeling of your house it can be difficult the time, but the team made as easy as possible so we could manage our life with as little disturbance as possible.
Description of Work: 1. Complete bathroom remodeling with shower, mirrors, countertop, tiles, electrical and plumbing. 2. Kitchen painting and installing Italian floor tiles.

The company was very trustworthy and I felt secure leaving them at my house. They were always on time and always leaved the work area nice and clean. I am very satisfied with their work and would highly recommend them. I will definitely hire this company for my next project. They did an amazing job in a short period of time and for decent amount of money.
Description of Work: The company "Signature Design & Construction" worked on my kitchen remodeling. They tear down the old kitchen (cabinets, counter tops, floor tile, and drywall); and installed new plumbing for the kitchen sink, new drywall with a texture and painting, new cabinets and counter tops (granite tiles were used for the counter tops and back splash). At the end they installed wood paneling floor, which matches my kitchen perfectly.

On his advise I doubled the size of kitchen island and eliminated kitchen nook table. What a great choice, kitchen seems to be larger with the same funcionality. His work is very precized, acurate and clean. New jacuzi bathtub and oversized shower turned out to work great as well.
