It was probably 2 years since I have used them. The quality of their work was always good. However, the major issue which is why I stopped using them was because every time they came out, they always found what I perceived to be unnecessary things that needed to be replaced and they always try to upsell you. Although they do good work. I did reach a point where I felt I couldn't trust them in their estimates on what needed to be repaired. I have them on an annual contract. I haven't touched my heating and A/C in two years and it is running fine. They probably were not excessively out of range from everyone else.
Description of Work: I use the services of Rite-Way Ventilating for heating and A/C. They cleaned the air conditioner in the spring and the heating at fall.

A inferior bolt was used on new install.It failed and rattled motor .The fan was replaced and I paid labor. The office was very uncooperative insisting I Paid for diagonostic & repair labor within the first year. The second repair (after another diagonstic to be paid) seemed to correct the problem.( a new bolt was Installed It was at this point I learned that the 1st stage had not worked for 1 1/2 years and the motor only functioned on high for that period & my expemse. After Regristar & BBB complait the labor was refunded.
Description of Work: New A/C Improperlly installed and serviced after 3 tries and over 1 year of run around. Finally paid for work I had done and paid them for install of defective parts /labor. Very calloused in customer treatment.Very reluctant to do warranty.

My mother and I have been using Rite Way to check and maintain our Heater and AC for the past 2 years. The price I put was for the visit on 11/13/12, usually the price was much less in the visits in the past. The reason why the visit was more this time was that they needed to clean dirt out of the coil ($264.00) and Blower Wheel ($189.00) and renew our service plan ($217).

I have used Rite Way Ventilating Co since they installed the heat pump in my home in 2008. Over the years the quality of their technicians has dropped. In 2010, they were over 4 hours late for a scheduled appointment with no apology. The technician treated me like a child, insulting my intelligence. When I called the office concerned about the procedures used to check the heat pump, the office staff asked the technician instead of the service manager. Of course, the technician will state that he did nothing wrong. I contacted the manufacturer to ensure that no damage had been done to my unit as the procedures observed were different than those detailed in the product information and manuals. In 2011, I asked for the first appointment of the day, the 8 AM slot. When I called at 945, I was scheduled for the 9 to noon slot. When I called at 1145, I was not on the schedule. A technician did show up at my home in the afternoon. However, the office staff made it sound like they were doing me a favor. I have not used this company since that December 2011. In my opinion, they do not respect homeowner's time.

The day they started the job, it was raining cats and dogs. At the end of the day (for them it was 8 p.m.) they finally realized that they couldn't see to get the units working so they left. The next morning they sent out someone who figured out the problem and started things up. Then, I discovered that one of the units was leaking so I called them back. They sent out a repairman who decided that one of the units had been installed at an angle, so he called the installers back in. All of this took about a week. Obviously, when you are paying out big bucks for a replacement, it helps when they get the job done in one visit. This one took four. That's one of the reasons I gave them a "B" grade. But, they were persistent and did finally get everything done except that they were supposed to send someone out to fix a small hole in the wall and I haven't heard from them. I'm just going to get it fixed myself.
Description of Work: Mini-split AC units are complicated. I had to replace one this year and a friend highly recommended Rite-Way. They faced some big challenges --weather, old pipes and it took them some time (a week) to get the job done to my satisfaction, but they did it. They did leave two details incomplete as of today, so I'm giving them a "B" grade but I'm tough. The estimate was in-line with others I had received and it was the estimator/salesman who was so professional and so obviously knowledgeable who got me to hire them. I think they are honest and they certainly show a strong work ethic. If you call them, they get someone out quickly to work on your problem.

The 2 workmen were efficient, friendly, and thorough. They left no debris and thoroughly cleaned the site when they were finished. They are not the cheapest contractors, but they do the job right the first time and I would hire them again.

The worst company I've dealt with in my 30 years in Tucson.
Description of Work: This company is very unprofessional, unpredictable and will raise prices on what they quote after they are at your house ready to install parts. After having a contract with them for annual performance we dropped them due to continuous lack of responsiveness, the owner who was moody and unprofessional and service people who were insulting and gossiping about the owner and company. We ended up spending money on parts we found out we didn't need. They would send out different servicemen who would contradict each other in terms of what our equipment needed. What a nightmare!

I canceled the appointment and did this myself and saved my self 632$ over what i was initial was quoted. Now i am not saying everyone can do this kind of repair themselves, but when you are charging that much for parts? Well that doesn't seem right. Not to me anyway. I will not recommend these folks to any one any longer. What a RIP OFF. I was telling my co workers about this and another guy told me they charged him 400$ for a drip pan that he later found for around 25$. Rite Way does thing the Wrong Way!
Description of Work: The issue was this; The unit was 6 years old and needed a check up. Rite way installed this unit new for me. I took advantage of the Angie's list spring time special they offered for this vendor of 49$ (although i got charged by Angies List AND Rite Way for the $49.00 dollar special). They came out - did the service check and made note that 3 capacitors needed to be replaced but would probably make it through the summer. Here is the rub;The replacement capacitors were quoted as follows; 2 x 169.70$ 1 x 189.00$ Plus 75$ per hour for the techs time.Plus 50.00$ trip charge With taxes and all my bill would have been 690 and some change. I found the very same capacitors in town for $13.00 each And the other one was $22.00 A difference in parts of over 450$ that seems wrong to me to charge almost 850% increase in costs for parts. When i called them i was told they dont price match.

Well, like I said Milo showed up on time with a courtesy call beforehand. He was respectful of my home and as he was fixing the issue,he explained to us what he was doing and how to check for this particular issue and how to remedy it. It was easy enough, and thankfully something that shouldn't happen again, or if it does, not too often. He explained slowly while I took notes and made sure I completely understood before he left. He also made sure the system turned on and off properly several times before leaving. He told us to feel free to call if we need to and that he would be happy to come back out if need be. There was not charge because we have had three techs come out in less than a month (including him) The last time was not something that could have been avoided, but since he cannot say for sure if the issue could have been detected or not and we have been having so many issues (and the warranty thing, too..LOL), there would be no charge. Milo was very polite and professional and he is welcome again in my home. I wish we could request techs; he would be one of the ones we would ask for if he was available. Overall, I like this company and will continue to use them.
Description of Work: First of all, the responsiveness wasn't the tech. He was right on time with a courtesy call beforehand. The responsiveness refers to the process to actually schedule an emergency appointment. It took nearly 45 minutes to have someone call me back. I know that isn't a ton of time, but when it is 102 outside and the AC quits, it is an eternity. My AC was cutting off at odd times and not turning on when it should. Milo came out right on time and figured it out immediately. There was something caught in the pump and the safety mechanism kicked in and turned the system off.

Initial consultation was an HVAC evaluation during the inspection period after our offer was accepted on a new home. Our realtor met with Milo at the house as we were unable to be there. Our realtor reported that he was very professional, walking him through the entire inspection, explaining everything as he went. He was impressed with how thorough Milo was and said he would recommend Carl's (which is now RiteWay) in the future. I had them come back after the closing for a maintentance on the air conditioner to make sure it was up and running for summer. I felt that the tecnician was knowledgeable and again, thorough. He seemed to do the best he could with an old, old unit that should be replaced. The only negative is that their prices seem to be on the high side but, honestly, I haven't done my homework to compare prices with other Tucson HVAC companies. The price for the initial inspection was approx. $80.00 and the maintenance call was approx. $100.00. You be the judge...is that high. Is quality service worth it?

Initially I did not pay much attention to the fact that although we had a prepaid maintenance contract they often seemed to find "something wrong" during a routine check that required additional payment to repair. In feb 2009, they inspected our 2 units & told me that one of them, which was working but had a noisy compressor, required a new compressor (which would cost us more than $1000 out of pocket because he claimed it was not under warranty, even though the unit was less than 5 years old). I had another heating/plumbing company look at it & they told me there was a 10 year warranty on the unit. When I went back to rite way, they said they made a mistake & used the serial # for the unit from our previous house(where we hadn't lived for more than 3 years), which was more than 10 years old (even though the correct information is located on the actual unit). Furthermore, now that the repair would be covered under warranty, it wasn't actually necessary because the unit was operating fine (this was the 1st red flag). I continued to use them because we were still under prepaid contract, until they did an inspection in 1/2010 & told us that our other unit probably had a leak in the coil, which would need to be replaced for an additional $1800 parts & labor. At this point I took our business elsewhere. I think this company is extremely unethical & performs unnecessary repairs to put more $ in their pockets.

Quick response for a second estimate yielded a more experienced and better engineered solution. I was ready to proceed with my old contractor, I called RiteWay and Chris came out the same day with a professional and accurate system quote. They were flexible and offered a better price if I could wait a week which was no problem. The job was done right and on time except for a part that was not available but isn't needed for cooling so this was not a problem waiting until it was available in couple of weeks. Permitting was also done for the install, something that I didn't care about at first but then i realized that it was another example of how things are done at RiteWay, no short cuts.
Description of Work: Replaced a roofpack AC/furnace, including new electrical ducting and plumbing. First class Carrier heat pump. It is quiet and circulates air well. Upgraded to the roof curb mount which is better than the old redwood from the old unit.

During the summer last year out A/C went out, and I called them on a Thursday night and left a message on their answering machine. On Friday morning I called and they said the woman that usually checks the messages, didn't have a chance to do it yet. They finally sent someone out to us at 5 in the afternoon. He said he didn't have a motor with him, then he tried to sell us a more expensive motor than when we needed. So I asked him if he was able to get a standard motor over the weekend, and he said that he could get one on the weekend. This whole mess wasn't resolved by Monday, so I called a new company and they took care of it right away. I will never use Rite-Way Ventilating Co in the future.

It cost a lot but they did financing for it. It was way more than we expected to pay but the work was important to do. We are not sure if we would use them again.

They arrived on time, assessed the problem, fixed it, and then gave me tips on how to keep my ac running efficiently. I was very pleased.
Description of Work: Because I have a home warranty, Rite-Way was the company that was sent to repair my central a/c. They were very prompt and the serviceman knew what he was doing. I had been having problems with my a/c all summer and another company had been out twice but never actually fixed the problem. This time it was fixed correctly, the serviceman gave me several suggestions on how to keep it running efficiently and I was very happy with their work. I would use this company again and have recommended it to friend.

The experience was good. Previously we did not have a good experience as one of their staff had attitude. The person who owns the company gave us a really good service when they put it in but they seemed to have pretty high turn over in staff and so the time before this we had someone whom we didn’t like. This time they gave us someone who was thorough and we really liked him. Generally we would rate really excellent except for that one person whom we never want to have again. We have a little insurance policy and we paid for three years in advance when we purchased. They come out spring and fall, once to start the air-conditioning system and once for the heating system start up. I would recommend them to anybody. The person who works for them called Peterherb and we just liked him so much that we actually put his name down on the back door of the air-conditioning unit so that we would never get him again. Generally we would recommend the company but we would say do not get Peterherb. We did find that when the new guy was coming that he was still working for them. The first thing we asked them was whether Peterherb was working and we told them that we weren’t happy with his service. They are fairly honest.

I have used them for fifteen years. I have never had a problem. They did what I asked them to do for a reasonable price. I have no complaints with the quality of their work. They are responsive and punctual. I would continue to use them in the future.

I was very impressed with them. They were very forceless. They took energy calculation of the house. They offered me alot of different options. The price went up to $8000 to $11000. They were really good. I’m going to have them do the service on my air conditioner; I have decided not to buy one. I would use them in the future.
