All of the homes in my neighborhood have energy efficient devices - solar water heaters and solar power generators and energy efficient insulation, doors and windows. The solar water heater does a great job of insulating water from the sun and it never gets above 80 degrees on the hottest of days. It has been like that since we purchased the house and our friends at Progressive Solar do not even answer the phone. they are too busy defrauding more homeowners and taxpayers out of their hard earned solar tax credits.

Progressive installed two units for me. There was about a 2-week interruption in the work due (I guess) to more pressing concerns, but this was not an issue. The company maintained good communication. They handled permits and helped with my submission to TEP for a rebate. The work was completed professionally and everything seems to work well. A minor issue is that the information on the pump/sensor arrangement is skimpy at best. There are several settings for the sensor and some practical issues that can arise. During the summer the collectors retain heat very well and the pump can run all night. Is that the best approach or can there be a way to turn the pump off when it really won't be needed? This involves a balancing of the heater in the tank and the roof unit. Some written advice on how/when to adjust the sensor/pump arrangement and what to do if/when it fails would be helpful. Other than that, there's not much to complain about.

Jim and Steve came out and gave me an estimate in December, at no charge. In February, the old heater sprang a leak and water poured from the roof while I was away. They came quickly and bypassed the heater. I finally broke down and had them replace the old heater with a newer, more efficient model. They took the old water heater from the roof, repaired the roof, and installed a new heater. They were helpful, and the work appears to be done well.
