Description of Work: Over the years I've needed a water heater and more recently an AC unit replaced. Whereas many companies are willing to make an appointment "in the next couple of days" (Costco affiliate, 5 days) to review the situation, these folks make same day calls, usually within hours of initial contact. They are professional, polite, and thorough. We were provided several options to either repair or replace these appliances to meet our needs and financial situation. They also provided tips on maintenance to prolong the life of the product. Financing was available on the AC unit.

Description of Work: Replaced crossover vent for a.c. under house. One year ago they performed same service and replaced old a.c. unit with a new one. That billed out to 4500.00 dollars plus. So our business relationship with them is well established as we paid with cash. They cannot claim any dispute against us! All accounts were settled upon completion of service. Fast forward to 1 year later.......

Description of Work: I had to call them out because our AC failed on July 4th of all days. They did come out as promised and recharged the system, and we discussed upgrading our entire AC/heating unit. We were most interested in upgrading and they were supposed to check with us the following week, but we never heard from them again.

Description of Work: We had a coupon for $20 off of an A/C tune up so we decided to call and have this done. Mind you we had not had our A/C looked at for at least 3 years. They came and serviced the A/C unit outside and also inside. Our house was built in 2001 so it is an energy efficient home so there are 2 seperate units inside as well. They were professional and went over proper care with my husband as well. No trying to push any kind of additional service and/or work. Original cost would have been $78 but with $20 off it was $58. Thanks to Troy and Alex, what a breath of fresh air.

Description of Work: On June 22 I contacted our usual HVAC contractor, very early, as our air conditioning had quit working, but didn't get any response. I then called Ron Arenas at Picture Rocks Cooling & Heating. I left a message that our air conditioner is blowing hot air. The air inside our home was approaching 100 degrees, there was a heat wave and we have medical conditions, as well as house pets. He came out and added freon, charged $269.38, and left. Within 25 minutes our AC was blowing hot air again! I called him immediately, and when he came back he said "Due to age and condition, your compressor is not happy". When asked if the "unhappy compressor" could be replaced he said "No, it is too dangerous, as the debris and bits of metal from the old compressor can damage the new unit, and a new compressor costs $2400-$2800, so you may as well get a new A/C package. I can get you a new 5-ton Rheem for between $5800 and 6200 and have it installed by Tuesday". I replied that is quite expensive. Arenas said that GE has a credit plan and brought an application in, telling me of the interest rates. He did not bring the proposal in that we had requested. He said he'd wait while we filled out the application. Warnings went off in my head, as I was thinking of the access to our personal information which we'd be giving him, and I instead called our previous HVAC contractor and he came out immediately to rescue us. He found that Arenas had added freon without testing the lines before charing the unit. He also did not check for and remove the non-compressables in the lines before charging them. And he did not discover and replace the 2 leaking Schrader valves, thus allowing Freon to escape. When asked about this Arenas said "there were no leaks because I didn't find any oily residue on the lines". And Arenas also did not discover and replace the plugged liquid-line drier before charging the unit with the 5 lb. of Freon.

Description of Work: I used Picture Rocks Cooling & Heating to check our air conditioning system and to replace a relay switch.
