The contract was in response to a solicitation that my wife had received in her mail stating that we could build a pool for some low amount of around $15,000, and that it would be built and good for use within 30 days. The advertisement was for a barebones pool job that not many people would enjoy. After the add-ons and the changes the price had come up to $40,000 to $50,000. They broke ground in the second or first week of June in 2008, and the pool was not ready for use until August 12, 2008. When we had entered into the contract it was our impression that the pool would have a mechanism that allowed us to use salt instead of the normal chlorine which many people use in their pools. We wanted to have a salt water pool. When the pool was put into service on August 12 I noticed one of the crew putting chlorine in the pool. I had asked why he was doing that when we were supposed to have a salt water pool. We later contacted Pacific Pools and Spas and they said that was not part of the contract. It was my recollection that the salt water mechanism was part of the contract. The contract was printed out a couple of times at least by the salesperson at their office that day. I suspect that the first version of the contract had the salt water mechanism on it, but the second version did not and we did not notice it when we signed it. There were some stern words exchanged between us and finally we wrote a two-and-a-half page letter to the president of the company laying out all the problems that we had from start to finish including delays in construction. All their construction crew is based in Phoenix, and I am not aware of anybody that they use from the Tucson area. Later one day my wife got a phone call from the president of Pacific Pools and Spas. She spoke with him for about half an hour and he agreed that there had been some problems with the construction of our pool. He also said that he would authorize the installation of the mechanism to allow the pool to have salt water. It took about a month or more to have that accomplished. It was actually installed by the same person who had put the pool in service. My overall impression of Pacific Pools & Spas is very negative. The pool is of sound construction, though. The decking around the pool was also of sound construction. They had delivered on what they said they were going to, but it was more costly than we had imagined. Unless they change their ways regarding using crew that are based in Phoenix I would not recommend them to anyone simply because they can?t be quickly responsive to our needs. There were times when the crew was scheduled to do a certain phase of a project on a certain day at a certain time and then they hadn?t shown up. I would not recommend them simply because of their attitude. They had accused us of lying when we brought up the salt mechanism issue and so forth. I had spent approximately $40,000 for the whole project.

They have beautiful pool designs, friendly knowledgeable designers, and a wonderful new showroom. Obviously, they have a disorganized records/callback system.
Description of Work: We first contacted Pacific Pools in June of '06 about building a pool for us. We visited their Oracle location, and they promised to call us back. After not hearing from them for 7 weeks, I called and scheduled an on-site estimate. We met in early August. 4 weeks later, I called them to ask about the progress of the estimate. It was not yet complete. It is now mid-October, and we still have not received an estimate or even a phone call from them. Anyone else want to help us spend our $85,000 budget?

I WAS NOT AT ALL PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS OF THEIR WORK. THEY WERE NOT VERY GOOD ON THE FOLLOW THROUGH. THE GENTLEMAN WHO EXPLAINED HOW THE PUMPS AND THINGS WORKED WAS SO UNSURE OF HIMSELF. HE WAS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE AT ALL. WE PROBABLY KNEW MORE.
Description of Work: WE HAD THIS COMPANY BUILD OUR POOL FOR US.
