Navarro Roofing was referred by a trusted neighbor and realtor whose company used them for all their roofing. We thought they could be trusted. We were wrong. Navarro sold us on replacing the composite roof with the best quality fiberglass shingles they sold so that we would not have maintenance like a composite roof. It cost $1000-$1500 more, but we thought it would be worth it. When Navarro arrived, they backed their truck onto our yard (instead of the driveway) over our main sewer line. They denied parking it there despite the dual tire tracks in the yard. Within weeks we experienced sewer backups from a crushed sewer line where the truck was ?not parked.? The repair was over $3000. They made a mess, leaving pieces of shingles, globs of tar, roofing nails and debris everywhere. It took hours to clean up the tar from the patios, walkways, outdoor furniture and our dog! Inexcusable! It was the weekend so they didn?t answered our phone calls. Within weeks the troubles began. The first hard rain, water started pouring into a bedroom below the roof mounted evaporative cooler, soaking the insulation, saturating the sheetrock and leaking terribly. The HVAC contractor who installed it came out and showed us that the flashing around the cooler mounting was never replaced. THERE WAS NO FLASHING, no sealant, nothing! You could look into our attic from the roof! It cost $1200 to replace the insulation, ceiling, and clean the carpet. Multiple leaks resulted from either using old flashing, or removing it and using tar to seal the gaps. All eventually failed. The cost to replace the rot and repair the interior damage was $800. Instead of doing it right, they just globbed tar on it. Really shoddy work! Another contractor who came out to try to fix the damage said it was ?engineered to fail and built to leak!? There were numerous other problems including missing underlayment. It was really bad! The real damage caused by Navarro?s poor work and building practices appeared later. Three improperly installed valleys caused major damage. Two separate areas required $2000 in repairs. The third caused structural damage - you could put your entire hand through one hole! The pictures are of a 6 year old roof. The damage was so bad that the entire roof had to be replaced at the cost of $10,800. We contacted Navarro several times, but they have refused to take any action. They blamed US for the failure of the roof. They told us it was out of warranty and we could contact the shingle manufacturer. So we called Tamko Building Products, the shingle manufacturer, who said the shingle warranty was void due to ?poor or improper application or installation.? They specifically recommend not using the metal W valleys Navarro installed. That may be why every single valley failed! They just cut too many corners. It doesn?t say much about Navarro when their work voids a manufacturer?s warranty! I guess that?s not something you put on your business card!

I called Navarro because they were highly rated on Angie's List. I needed repairs to my flat roof which was leaking in 2 places. Carlos at Navarro came out and looked at the roof. He submitted an estimate of over $7500, including a coat of emulsion and 2 coats of paint. I later contracted with a different roofer, who pointed out that the roof did not need recoating, that even if it did, emulsion would serve no purpose. The cost to repair the skylights and drains, which is what I really needed, was $1250.00. It is possible that Navarro does good work, but anyone considering using them should get at least 2 more estimates. It seems likely that they will inflate an estimate with unnecessary work.

Navarro did a great job. The job was completed efficiently and so far no problems. The cost was about $500 over estimate due to needing plywood replaced on roof and porch, which we expected. The extra cost for plywood was indicated in the original estimate.
Description of Work: We had all shingles removed and replaced with 30 yr. warranty shingles on our 1400 sq. ft. home. We also had our patio roof resurfaced.

The initial call, estimate, and scheduling was excellent. They provided a paper on how to prepare our house and what to expect in terms of noise and smell. We rearranged our schedules to have the house ready and called in the morning to see when they would arrive. We were told between 7 and 7:30. They did not arrive and I was told that the crew had been sent to another job. They asked if they could do our house the following day. I agreed as long as I had some compensation for the inconvenience. There was a verbal agreement to compensate the installation of the two new skylights which were not in the original estimate. They were on time the next day. I needed to correct the placement of the skylights three times and they needed to return to finish cleaning the gutters, finish an open corner, reconnect conduit and free an electrical box that was tarred closed. The finished product is very good, so far, but they refused to acknowledge our verbal agreement and charged for the skylights.
Description of Work: They installed a 3-ply built-up roof system. 25# base layer with two 14# layers each layer hot-mopped. 90# wrap on parapet walls. New metal drip edge. Cut in two new skylights and replaced a third existing skylight. The interior square footage of our house is 1600 ft, plus large covered patio and a car port. One coat of roof emulsion and 2 coats white elastomeric roof coating.
