Description of Work: My dishwasher lost power. I called J&B on a Monday, left a msg, and was called back several hours later. Service was scheduled for Friday. On Thursday they called to let me know a 2 hr window & I asked for a call just before they arrive so I could secure the dogs. No call was received and the tech arrived 20 minutes before the 2 hrs were over. He was professional and efficient. He explained the problem, fixed it and billed the dishwasher manufacturer b/c the machine was still under warranty.

Description of Work: Replaced A/C main fan motor on the 4th of July in the afternoon! Did a great job, charged a premium of $150 but that seemed reasonable on the holiday, and honored the 15% off coupon the Angie's List deal for an inspection that I bought for $39. Well worth it on an $800 repair, obviously. | |Good company, efficient, professional, did the work in less time than he thought, no need to replace the compressor.

Description of Work: tried to find small gas leak in 6 burner stove; had to come out 3 times and we still don't know if it is done or not; many parts and problems; they came without gas sniffer so had to try to find the leak the hard way (soap) which did not work. Not really satisfied,but smell only comes if house is closed up for a long time and then very faint.

Description of Work: My wife and I have used J&B Appliance for years going back to about 2001 with good results. When we called them in 2014, it had been three or four years from the last time we used them. The first technician that came to deal with a problem with our Dacor oven was grouchy and rude and we only let him do the analysis. We asked for another technician who had better manners but forgot the tool he needed for the repair. The work was finally completed satisfactorily.

+ -1 moreKen from J and B arrived exactly when scheduled and went straight to work. The refrigerator had quit working the previous day. He tested to make sure the outlet was working before trying anything else -- excellent idea! He then explored and determined that the compressor had died. He advised me that it would be approximately a $700 repair on this refrigerator that 15 months ago had cost $850. He suggested that I replace the fridge instead of repairing it. He gave me some advice on which brands had the fewest service problems and gave me some leads on where to go to find a new, reasonably priced refrigerator. There were a tremendous help for me since I'm new to Tucson. Thanks, J and B!

+ -1 moreOverall, I am impressed with Ken's knowledge and skill. I don't know how much more we would have spent if he hadn't been here to make it all work, and to fix it right the first time.
Description of Work: First off, we have been using J&B Appliance for decades, and Ken has always been the technician. He knows our appliances, and has repaired and/or replaced all of them at least once, and in many cases, several times. This was no exception. I noticed that the washer had starting making a loud banging sound on final spin, and called J&B. Ken arrived at the appointed hour, promptly lay down in front of the washer, took a few screws off, inspected, moved parts around, pushed, pulled, asked questions, and told me the washer was dead (main bearing failure). He offered two alternatives - parts (costing more than the washer itself) or a new washer. Bad news there. On the way out, I casually mentioned that the soap dispenser on the dishwasher was acting strange. One look and he knew it was worn (apparently a characteristic of the Bosch soap dispensers). That needed a part, and a second service call....which took just a few minutes also. Ken is just that good.

+ -1 moreAll three repairs were excellent! First, our 20 year old dryer was extremely noisy; it turned out to be a worn bearing. The only drawback was the part needed to be ordered. The cost was very reasonable, and the service great. A year or so later, the dryer stopped heating. Response was very prompt, and the repair turned out to be a simple internal fuse replacement with a bit of custom wiring replacement. Last week we woke to a warm freezer/fridge. Given the immediate need, Jand B had a repairman out in the afternoon, replaced the burnt condensor capacitor with one on-hand, and life was back to normal, the same day! EXCELLENT!!
Description of Work: this trip repaired refrigerator/freezer not cooloing properly; earlier twice repaired clothes dryer, once for extreme noise, once for no heat.

+ -1 moreThe majority of the repair went really smooth. The Technician arrived promptly at the time agreed upon. He diagnosed the problem almost immediately. He had a spare motor on his truck and offered to replace it then. Unfortunately, because my motor was so old, there were a couple of adapters required that he didn't have on his truck. The Technician was more than willing to accommodate my work schedule to establish a date/time to return to complete the job. I am thoroughly pleased with everyone I had contact with at this company and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who needs appliance service.
Description of Work: The motor died in my 14 year old GE dishwasher. I use American Home Shield for home appliance service. After filing a claim with AHA, I was contacted the same day by J&B Appliances, Inc., they left a message on my home phone. When I called them the next day, July 3rd, the person I talked to was extremely cordial and worked diligently to help resolve my problem. Expecting to receive no service until the following Monday, as Friday was the 4th of July holiday, the customer service found a service Tech that would work on my dishwasher on the 4th. Amazingly, they did not charge me extra for the holiday service.
