We were highly impressed with the person who worked on the AC. He came to our house on a Saturday evening within an hour of our call to the company. He did a preliminary check and determined he needed parts that he couldn't get that night, so offered portable coolers to get us by until he could return with the parts on Monday morning. It was very hot in the attic on Monday and there was more to the problem than he had originally determined, but he didn't give up until he found the root of the cause. We found him to be knowledgeable, honest, and we highly recommend this company for their overall professionalism.

Jake and Brent came to our house exactly when they said they would and quickly diagnosed the problem with our furnace. They were very courteous and professional, gave us a list of options for repairs and suggested long term solutions to consider. Both technicians were kind, helpful and patient with all our questions. We have always been very satisfied with Intelligent Design's service.

Our time with Intelligent Design was nothing short of fantastic! Normally, I am not one to write a review on work done at our house, as most prior experiences have ranged from very poor to just average with nothing worth mentioning. However, our experience with Intelligent Design was so exceptional, that I felt I needed to provide a review so that others out there in need of their line of services can have renewed hope in the standard of service provided in Tucson. We had one of our old AC units replaced by Intelligent Design about a year and a half ago, and from that experience had signed up for a Maintenance agreement with them to monitor and check all our units and water heaters 2x a year. Early in the Winter we had to undergo a complete roofing job by a different company, which was a very problematic experience. They had to lift move, adjust all of our units while working on the roof and put them back. Intelligent Design called to schedule our maintenance apt in preparation for the Summer ahead last week, and showed up on time, and began their review of our systems. Not only did they provide valuable information on how the units were handled, and took pictures showing the issues they discovered, but also took the time to give us pictures of other concerning things that they noticed up on the roof that were not put back or sealed appropriately. They provided a clear list of concerns with supporting pictures to make our decisions. The service people were extremely informative and helpful. Because 2 of our AC units were very old and on the verge of end of life, the owner of Intelligent design stopped by to discuss our options and financing available should we pursue some replacements. We decided to move forward with replacing the 2 outdated units, as well as our water heaters that we have known have been on the edge of dying on us. We had a crew of about 6 gentlemen show up for the Duct Cleaning/Sealing and AC replacements and re-leveling. In addition to 2 other gentlemen for the water heater replacement. All of them were extremely courteous. They took extra care with covers for their shoes, and carefully moving furnishings, as they worked throughout our home. I work from home, and had minimal disruption to my day as they quietly worked around me in my office. They spent the entire day doing a very large job, but were always respectful of my husband, myself and our two dogs. At the end of their work in the house, they vacuumed and dusted all the rooms that potentially got dirty by the Duct cleaning and sealing. Even though they did a fantastic job of keeping things clean as they worked, they made sure they left nothing behind. Toward the end of their work here, the owner again stopped by to make sure we were satisfied with the work and go over any questions and concerns we might have had. Just another example of the exceptional quality of service provided by this company. I would highly recommend Intelligent Design for any AC/Heating and Plumbing work you might have. I know I will continue to use them any time I have need of their services, and have a 10 year maintenance program with them for servicing our units for the next decade. Again, I would like to personally thank Andrew as well as every member of the crews that all worked in unison to provide this service for my home and my family. This is a great company! Great people to work with. From the owner down to the service techs. They installed our new air conditioner several years ago and have been behind us on everything. They answer all your questions and do everything they can to make sure you are happy. Come out every year for maintenance checks. Just recently had them install a new air filtering system and had a few issues with it. They came out on a Friday night at 7:00 to help us with the problem. Solved the issue and helped me have a great weekend.

It went great, better than expected. I am using them again this month.

I knew I wanted a new line, but was worried about our large Mesquite tree. They assured me they could work around it, and they did. They dug the trench by hand and snaked the line around the tree and under the roots. Afterward, the landscaping was meticulously restored. John and Cody were polite, professional and prompt. I will definitely use them again!

They solved the problem and completed some warrantee work without further charge.

I was shocked at their timeliness, professionalism and kindness. Opening my home to strangers (even ones working on the house) is always something that is hard for me, a work at home mom. They were helpful in their explanations to me about what was happening and why. They also gave me helpful hints how to not have the same problem happen again. Corey and Johnny deserve my highest recommendation and I appreciate them!

The inspection was a joke. The company sent a 19 year-old kid, who although very polite, whose knowledge of plumbing was embarrassing. This company should be ashamed of it's practices. I paid 89.00 for a second-rate inspection and was quoted an exorbitant amount of money for a simple job. I watched a YouTube video and replaced the flexible drain pipes for 25.00 in less than an hour. They sent me an estimate of over 400.00 for the same job. Don't waste your time and money with this company. One last thing...the obnoxious attempt to purchase a contract for "plumbing insurance" was unwanted and ill conceived. If your going to try and sell and unnecessary service, at least use a salesman that knows what he is selling.

I have a service plan, so that was included in the service plan. The service is expensive. To do the checkup, it’s relatively quick, about a half an hour. Left the area good.

The repair tech experience was fine. He answered my questions, and although I was disappointed to pay $89 for him to just look at things and tell me the thing was doomed, that's the way it goes. He also said they would credit that toward the cost of a new furnace, should I get one from them. So I scheduled an appointment with their sales person. This was a young guy who did not know what he was doing (and also arrived late). He was slick, polite, and wore shoe protectors but didn't do his job very well. He told me that the intake vent was too small, and made specific suggestions on how I should cut the furnace closet door and add another vent. Had I followed his instructions, I'd have started mixing return air with combustion air and probably poisoning myself with CO. Fortunately, I knew better and got second opinions. He confirmed that he'd given me dangerously wrong information in a phone conversation the next day, after I'd done a bunch of research and sent him email asking him about it. He also said due to new city codes, they would have to move my hot water heater outside, and repipe everything. He could not cite the actual codes, and I could not find what he was talking about in the city records. They wanted to charge me $2,600 for a new gas furnace (the cheapest option possible for a 1,040-square-foot-home) plus another $2,500 for a hot water heater, moved outside. I said I couldn't afford all that, and agreed to the furnace install only. All this talking took about three hours, and they had another young, slick guy show up to give me the hot water heater quote. Both of them had to call their dads to get information, and neither really seemed to know what he was doing. They took some measurements, then left after charging $1,266.82 to my credit card, a down payment of half the price of the furnace installation. We scheduled the installation for first thing Monday morning, and I cleared my morning for it. Monday morning, I did not hear from anyone for hours, until I called the sales guy to see what was going on. He said that he did not know what was going on, and that he'd call the installer and get back to me. The installer called and told me that they could not install the furnace without also moving the hot water heater, because the whole closet would not be up to code. I pressed him for details about that, and he gave me a story that seemed like a runaround and lacked any specific facts. I think they just wanted the easiest way forward while making the most profit. I've had three other contractors since then — all of whom must comply with city codes, and all of whom must get permits and inspections for installations around new hot water heaters — tell me that this story about the need to move my heater outside is a lot of bunk. Anyway, Intelligent Design refused to do just the furnace, and after leaving me hanging all morning and only telling me this when I called them after waiting around for hours, the installer said he would refund the payment I'd made to my credit card right away. A week later, I noticed that no payment had been returned to my card, so I called their office. They said that a check would be sent out Friday (last Friday, nearly a week ago). No one ever told me that they'd keep the charge on my card and send a check to refund my money until now. So now they've kept my money, sitting on my credit card balance, for more than two weeks, and still have not returned my money for the job they refused to do. I called just now, and when I threatened to file a dispute of the charge with my credit card bank, I was told that the check just went out in today's mail. Since then I've received quotes for both the furnace and the hot water heater for more than $1,000 less each than they were asking. This seems to be the most expensive game in town, by magnitudes. If they'll even do the job. I cannot believe this company has received so many great reviews. Maybe they used to do much better, and things have turned. I don't know, but this has undermined my trust in Angie's List a bit. This is the worst service experience I've ever had around my home.

Terrible. After two no shows they came out to fix the spigot. The plumber installed it upside down. I wish I could add photos. I sent a photo to the manager Kristopher. He had the plumber come back out and reinstall it. I specifically asked them not to insulate it because I wanted to see the repair. So they insulated it. I am not for sure why I didnt take off the insulation. I guess I wanted to trust that it was done correctly. Fast forward a couple of months and there was moisture on the foundation of the house. After some investigation, it appears the water was coming from the insulation. Took off the insulation and found the repair was leaking. What a joke. I would NEVER hire these guys again. It amazes me that they have had so many good reviews. The manager Kris was professional. The only saving grace to this whole ordeal is that they never charged me for the replacement/repair. I would not hire these guys again.

No complaints about the service. In fact I was so impressed that I bought a maintenance contract for two years on my furnace/ac and plumbing for around $400. Part of the deal was that their "Diamond Club" customers got bumped to the top of the list for response. I had a plumbing issue and was told that they didn't have a plumber available in the Phoenix area and tried to schedule me two weeks out. When I didn't buy that I was turned over to a "supervisor". He scheduled me three days out. I told him that wasn't acceptable and asked for a refund since the contract was being breached on their end. The "supervisor" agreed and told me he would hand it over to accounting. Did not receive anything and their accounting department would not return my call when I called multiple times to inquire about my refund. Their word is no good. Crooks!

The work was completed as requested.

Very professional installers. One issue on startup - determined to be bad furnace controller. Ordered and replaced quickly.

I had (3) estimates done on my house for replacing the Evaporative Cooler with an HVAC system. The first estimator told me the HVAC unit that would be installed would not heat my house when the temperature dropped below 40 degrees. The second estimator showed up without a tape measure and wanted me to tell him how thick my outside walls were so he could do a load calculation. The third estimator was from Intelligent Design and he took all kinds of measurements (relevant data, such as the home's orientation, insulation levels, window types, areas of all the surfaces that gain or lose heat, etc) and then he took a vacuum on the entire house with his test equipment. He then put all measurements and data into a computer program and calculated the load. Intelligent Design was very close in price to the other (2) companies but they do much more planning. On the day they were to install the HVAC unit, they noticed that my duct work below the Evaporative Cooler was almost completely rotted out. They replaced 10 feet of duct work before they installed HVAC unit which was at no charge to me and took an extra day. Intelligent Design’s lead tech was amazing. He knew every facet of the HVAC system and had years of experience. He made sure installation was done right. The HVAC system works perfectly. I’m a very happy customer!

Long sales pitch. Tried to sell me a lot of stuff I didn't want or need. They were $2500 higher than everybody else

They glanced at the water valves and said the whole system needed to be replaced (both hot and cold) and quoted me $553. I had priced valves at home depot and they run about $50 so I couldn't figure out the $500 difference. They said theirs were commercial grade but I still couldn't justify the difference. I refused the service and they wanted to charge me $89 for coming out. I had specifically asked the charges when I booked the appointment and was not told about this fee, so I complained and they waved it. I then googled how to fix a leaking valve and it turns out all I needed to do was tighten the stem valve. Fixed! No cost. The plumbers who arrived didn't really assess the problem, just plugged in "leaking water valves" into their iPad and came up with the ridiculous price. If you refuse, you're out $89. Beware of this company!

They seem to be fine. They are pretty high on the estimate. They showed up on time. I think the estimate was a little overpriced. Their punctuality is great. I like their responsiveness and they are easy to talk to. They know what they are doing I thought.

It went very well. The installers completed the job in one day, including installing a new floor in the furnace room.
