Intelligent Design Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Solar, & Electric

We met Andrew the Owner of Intelligent Design at the home show and scheduled an appointment. Our home had a very noisy Coleman furnace and a condensing unit outside. Our main issues were terrible air flow with hot and cold pockets and temperature swings. In addition the furnace noise and dust was a big problem. Andrew ran through a number of questions with us to identify the issues and then set forth to resolve them. We had them install the best Lennox package system available with all new ducting to fix our air flow issues. They also put in air purification, a 40 gallon water heater, and a programmable thermostat. The install crew was fantastic. They spent a couple days of hard labor under my home. They were very knowledgeable and explained to us how to operate our new thermostat. Our air flow is now perfect and the new unit is extremely quiet. The install crew never a mess left behind. Each day they cleaned up before leaving our home. This was a very good investment for us. All of this we were able to finance at only $193 per month through Intelligent Design.

Well the time had come to get a new furnace and switch from the swamp cooler to central air. The furnace was 40+ years old and the water heater 27 years old (can't say we our moneys worth out of them) We found them in our Church's Christian Directory. Andrew came out and gave us all our options and worked with us to find a system that was in our budget. He came in our house as a stranger and left as a friend. The crew (John, Wes, Chuck and Sammy) were great. They arrived on time and worked beyond quitting time...to get the job done. This was a huge project and we are so happy that we went ahead and had it installed. Overall we are 100% happy with Intelligent Design.

I am Retired Army pilot and a certified OSHA manager. My wife is a Army HR specialist. We live in Sierra Vista. We met Andrew Dobbins from Intelligent Design at the home show and set an appointment. We chose to have him install our equipment because we were impressed with his extensive knowledge of the system and professionalism. He informed us on what was needed for proper install and efficiency with a electronic Manual J heat load calculation and a pressure test on the house. We told Andrew he had to meet 3 requirements to make us happy. 1. No noise. 2. balance our bad air flow/hot and cold pocket. 3. high energy efficiency. All requirements were met with extreme professionalism. The installers were as impressive as Andrew. They were always eager to answer questions. There was no mess left behind. All our expectations have been met and we couldn't be happier. I will refer Intelligent Design to all our friends and family

I got 5 estimates for replacing my systems. I was down to choosing between 2 local Green Valley companies and Intelligent Design. I decided to have Intelligent Design do the work and I am very please with everything. The crew did all the work in one day and left no mess. They were very polite and friendly. I would recommend using Intelligent Design. I am very excited to see how much money that I will save in the summer months with the higher efficiency AC and the duct work that is now properly sealed.

We were seriously considering replacing our ancient furnace and A/C, so we called Intelligent Design for an estimate on a new system. From the very beginning, Andrew was very friendly and polite, and he was able to fit us into his schedule quickly - on the day before Thanksgiving! On the day of the estimate, Andrew was punctual and just as friendly in person as he had been on the phone. When meeting with me, Andrew was very thorough in trying to ascertain my family's needs and preferences in a new system, and he was equally thorough in educating me about the mechanics of HVAC systems, the different brands out there, the different types of systems, tonnage, SEER ratings, you name it. Andrew was never rushed, and seemed genuinely to want people to know what they were buying and why they were buying it, regardless of whether they chose to work with his company. He answered all my questions - even ones only tangentially related to my new system, but still within his area of expertise. In all, Andrew met with me for over 2 hours, and I came away feeling like a super-informed consumer - it was great. (Did I mention this was the day before Thanksgiving?) The day after Thanksgiving, Andrew came back --again on time-- with recommendations for the types of units he thought would best serve our needs. He explained his suggestions and again patiently answered all my questions. He surveyed our house and did the Manual J calculation to determine the size unit we needed. He was very careful to explain everything he was taking into consideration, and to recommend a system what would work with our currently energy-leaky house and our house after we get new windows. We did get estimates elsewhere, and Intelligent Design's estimates were lower. But more importantly, I was extremely confident that they would do the best job. Andrew seemed to care more, to be more invested in doing quality work, and was more transparent than the competitors. Also, if I hadn't received the excellent HVAC tutorial form Andrew, I would have been clueless about what the competitors were recommending to me and why -- none of them explained their recommendations for even half the time Andrew did. Needles to say, we chose to get our new system from Intelligent Design. The system we chose was eligible for a great rebate from Lennox, but the window to get the rebate was about to close, so Andrew made sure to schedule our install ASAP, in time to qualify for the rebate. The technicians who installed the units - Wes and Chuck - were friendly and polite. They arrived when they said they would, and completed their work when they said they would -- in 6 hours! (But they did not rush the install --- I actually watched them work for a while and they were very careful and paid attention to detail - they just really seemed to know what they were doing). Before they left, they walked me through what they had done (which even included fixing up the bottom of our furnace closet), made sure everything was working properly, taught me how to use my new high-tech thermostat, and cleaned up after themselves. The next week, Andrew came back to inspect their work and make sure we were satisfied with the new system. We are extremely satisfied with our new system - it is quiet, efficient, and good-looking too. And we are also extremely satisfied with Intelligent Design --- Andrew, Wes, and Chuck were honest, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable --- even my kids loved them!

The repair person sent out by Andrew was top notch. He went over in detail his work taking photos etc. The cost was much less than quoted elsewhere.

The install team replaced my system in under one day. They were very professional and polite. They spent ample time cleaning up so not to leave a mess behind. I will be recommending this company to my friends and family.

I was happy with Andrew Dobbins' professional evaluation, presentation and options that he explained to me. He was professional, knowledgeable, non 'pushy'. The date was set, workers arrived exactly on time, were professional, clean and respectful of my home. The whole project was complete in about 5 hours.

We wanted to change out a 25 year old hvac system on a recently purchased home. I got 5 quotes. We were extremely happy with the service and education from Andrew Dobbins and Intelligent Design. He was extremely helpful with providing information about the choices we had. He provided easy explanations and helped us sort through various systems. One of the key reasons we choice I.D. was because Andrew spend sufficient time educating us and not selling us a system. He spent time in the attic crawl space actually looking at what I had. He sized our system based on the energy audit which was very different than the other quotes we recieved. We had many questions and he was always available to answer them. His installers were punctual and efficient. It did take some time to install and change the registers but I feel they did great work. They got all the work done in one day. I would highly recommend Intelligent Design for your heating/cooling needs.

We met at a local home show and made an appointment for an estimate. Andrew showed us all of our options and gave some recommendations but it was ultimately our decision. The work was done on schedule and the installers were pleasant and neat. The system works as advertised and is doing a great job. Excellent company.

Air Conditioner was leaking Freon and not performing well at all. I had it serviced but was told by law on 2 charges per AC life and it had used all its lives at that point. Decided to line up contractors and get 3 quotes. Andrew came to our house and spent more time with us and also agreed that the heater we had in the attic was in excellent condition and did not have to be replaced as the others contractors had told us. Andrew took into condsideration that we have 9.4KW solar panels on the roof and what our typical electric bill was and suggested we replace the coil in the heating unit to match the Lennox AC unit we purchased and also replace the registers in every room so the house could be properly load balanced. Andrew saved us as much as $5000.00 on the work. I am confident that our electric bill will drop signifigantly. The house is very comfortable and AC working like a champ! A+ to Intelligent Design crew!

I Submitted my phone number through the internet to random companies. I received a phone call from Andrew, the owner of Intelligent Design. I am a very scectacle person, automatically I was ready for the fast sales pitch lines, At first I felt we were heading in that direction of the EXPERIENCE, "I AM THE GUY FOR YOU". However, as the conversation progressed into a 40 min conversation at 8pm I felt like Andrew was very straight forward with his replies. I proceeded to ask numerous questions, not once did i feel rushed, even getting personal at times. At the end I felt the customer service was impeccable. The workers were focused and did a CLEAN quality job. Would I recommend Intelligent Design? The technician arrived on the appointed day. He inspected and serviced two functioning units, as requested, and told me that one required a new capacitor, but the units were otherwise fine. I discussed with him and Andrew my desire to purchase an annual service contract for my four units. I was told that the leaking capacitor would be fixed and the contract would be forthcoming. The short story is that they never followed up, despite two more calls from me. I eventually contacted another company and paid for another inspection as part of a service contract. I could have waited 6 months or so, but I really wanted the supposedly leaking capacitor replaced and the other two units serviced. The second company did not locate a capacitor problem and did provide the appropriate follow-up.

I am 78 and my husband is 81. We had a service contract with another company advertised on Angies list. Our AC stopped working and we called the people that we signed up on a contract with come out. We had the service manager out and he spent less that 15 minutes and then told us we had a down compressor and would have to replace the whole system with prices $6500 and up. We told the other company we were going to get a second opinion. Our son then referred us to Intelligent Design. They came out and went right to work. We went outside with them to watch. When they pulled the panel off of the condenser they identified a disconnected wire to the compressor. We saw with our own eyes in awe and disbelieve at the dishonesty of the other company. We have heard about these crimes against the elderly but had never been the victims. I am so happy we called Intelligent Design before spending thousands of dollars. The connected the wire and replaced the capacitor and now our system runs great. We won't be using any one else from now on. This company will take great care of you and not rip you off like many of the other companies in tucson. There guys really know what they are doing and are honest. I would highly recommend this company to all.

We found this company at the American Home Show in Tucson Arizona. We had originally decided not to change over from a cooler to Central AC because of a myriad of bad estimates from other HVAC companies. The range of recommendations and pricing was vast and we could not find anyone that we trusted. We were recommended to Intelligent Design by someone else at the home show and decided to get one more estimate but with hesitation. Once we had the owner out to give us an estimate we were set at ease and had the utmost confidence in the quality that we would receive. They included all the needed items like an upgraded electric panel and extra duct work. Other companies said that we would have to do some of those things on our own. After we signed because of what we know about the HVAC companies in town we worried about our decision prior to the install. At the install we have never had such an amazing experience with other work in and on my home. They were clean cut,, courteous, and professional. They took their time and made sure it was done right not just quickly. Any needed changes were made at no additional cost. The crew showed up on time every time. This is very uncommon with other contractors in Tucson in my experience. Over all we got a great price for all the work that was included and the Lennox system is quiet and efficient. I had 3 different HVAC companies come out to give an estimate to replace the system at my home and possibly the hot water too.The other two companies estimates were with-in a $1,000 of each other...for basically the same thing (ton, SEER, EER, etc.)Intelligent Design was over $15,000 more!The more it looked like I was not going to buy from them the more the price came down and "freebies" were thrown in. This made me feel like I was at a used car lot...and they were throwing in extras to seal the deal...so much for their "Up Front Pricing". In the end the price came down to about $24,000...still $10,000 more than the others...and I didn't need all those extras.I have since had the work done by another company and love my new system!

I am a retired CPA. I found Intelligent Design on the internet. We had 5 estimates. Intelligent Design was very prompt in scheduling and arriving on time. They did a comprehensive evaluation of the home. Also they took the time to explain all of the different terms and what they mean so that I could make an educated decision. They were very price competitive but not the lowest cost. I decided to purchase either the Lennox or tTrane products due to my own research. I chose I.D. over the competitors because of a better evaluation, explanation, and just that I trusted them more than the others. The installers were on time arriving early in the day for the installation. They are clean cut and very thorough. The Salesman and Owner came after the installation to inspect all the work and ensure the installation was to the owners standards. The installation quality is superb and no mess was left behind. We had a fantastic experience all around.

I am an artist and my husband is a doctor. My AC went out and I called the company that I had been using to service my AC(one of the big companies in town). They were not responding in a timely manner and during their routine maintenance I felt they were always trying to sell me something. I then searched on the internet for someone who could service my AC quickly because it is over 100 degrees in monsoon season. I was in emergency mode. I found Intelligent Design and they came out the same day that I called within a few hours. They explained the different options for repair and replacement and the different systems available and compared the costs for me. I felt with their vast knowledge and integrity that I could trust them and decided to purchase a high SEER system. Also their prices were really competitive comparison. Once I had agreed to purchase they promptly brought and set up some portable air conditioning systems to keep my husband and I cool for the rest of the day and night!!! I want to highlight how appreciative I am of this service. It was a wonderful display of their commitment to their customers. I have never experience this high level of customer service from an AC company. They scheduled me for an emergency install the very next day. The crew came in first thing in the morning and did the install in one day. The crew was clean cut, very polite, professional, and left no mess behind. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY HIGHER!!!

I met Andrew Dobbins the owner of Intelligent Design at a christian networking group at our church Victory Worship Center. I was talking to someone else about my extreme allergic reaction to mold and that we had a mold issue in our home. Andrew then mentioned that he had dealt with in home toxins before with other customers and described the device that could alleviate my problem. Andrew has a wealth of knowledge on indoor air quality and he helped us understand the product prior to purchase. Shortly there after we decided to purchase the system. Andrew had guaranteed that if it didn't do what we needed he would happily remove it and give us a full refund in writing. One of the service techs showed up and had the system installed in under an hour. They left no mess behind and were very friendly. We have now had the system for 3 months now. I have noticed a huge difference when I begin to have an allergic reaction I just turn my HVAC system on and my symptoms subside with in 1/2 hour. Prior I was debilitated and could barely work. I was getting nauseous because my reaction was so severe. This system has helped changing my life and ablility to function. I would reccomend this devise to anyone who has allergies or lots of dust in their home. Also i have had a wonderful experiance with Intelligent Design and Andrew the owner.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!We went with Intelligent Design because we knew that the installation is the most important thing with an AC purchase. Andrew did a comprehensive check through the house during the estimate and had an excellent price for all the work that was to be done. Also the certifications of the crew along with the experience that they require before hiring their installers was of great importance to us. The installation had some complications because of how many things had to be done. The parts house did not have all the needed parts for the tankless water heater. With that said the crew stayed late in the day and completed the job before leaving. Also a spot was left on the carpet from one of the tarps. The owner was very responsive to our concern about the carpet and has now scheduled for our entire house to be cleaned by a carpet cleaning company. What great customer service. Our new system is extremely quiet and much more efficient. Also they added another 8 inches of insulation in our attic which allowed us to go to a smaller size of system and we have had no trouble at all cooling the house in the last week when it has been up to 107. I was very skeptical about the size reduction but the engineering from Andrew gave us confidence and it is working great.

I found Intelligent Design on a manufactures recommended companies web site along with other contractors from various manufactures. When Andrew Dobbins the owner came out He was extremely knowledgable, and was the only one to provide the proper evaluation for correct sizing and have a solution for each of the issues that I was having. He asked me questions to identify my problems and provided the best solutions to fix them. I was leery about their ability to fix the problems as Andrew said they were going to but, I trusted them and went ahead with the work. THEY FIXED EVERY ISSUE THAT I HAD. The install crew showed up on time and were clean and efficient. They preformed their job with excellence. The installers were extremely knowledgable as well and could handle all of the tasks assigned to them (HVAC, sheet metal, electrical, roofing, and plumbing). No mess was left behind. After the completion of the installation Andrew called me to make sure I was happy with everything and then made a personal post install visit to my home to inspect and make sure I was happy. I couldn't be more pleased with Intelligent Design. Great price for the comprehensive amount of work that they did. I highly recommend them.

I live in Saddlebrooke. My wife and I purchased an activated carbon filter and air scrubber type filters from Andrew Dobbins of Intelligent Designs. We met Andrew at the Home Show at TCC. Andrew was a very professional and knowledgeable young man. Living in the desert, a primary concern that we had was dust. Thus the activated carbon filters. Secondly, my wife has asthma and we both have allergies. Thus we bought the air scrubbers. My wife had a single room air scrubber and now we have a full house. As to the installation of the products, we couldn't be happier. Installation dates were made to our convenience and the installers were aways on time. I recommend Intelligent Designs and Andrew for any of your heating and air conditioning needs.
