We originally signed up for the advertised tune-up service; however, our 4-ton unit went down on the same day we signed up. I called and the office immediately had Erik out the next day. He was the utmost in professionalism, and had to replace the capacitor on the 4-ton. He explained in detail its failure. It was really fried. He performed all tune-up services perfectly. Since our units are 9-year old contractor installed units, he recommended quick-start kits to extend the life of the compressors. We were so impressed with the service, that we signed up for an annual service agreement that includes the ACs, heaters and plumbing.

A team of two examined our HVAC systems. Based on their inspection they offered a service contract in addition to completing the work promised in the Angie's List offer. Given our past experience with the harsh climate and our location, we chose to purchase a service contract to provide regular maintenance. They were very professional, quick, knowledgeable (and good sales people).

They where professional and didn't try to over sell

(For starters, we bought a top-of -the-line system.) Jason, the rep we worked with, first looked throughout our house to check the current system, then did a "blow-door" check (I think it's called) of the tightness of our house insulation. He gave us options on what would work best for us, and explained how everything would work. When the work crew came, they were polite, friendly and very hard-working, answering any questions we had about the installation. They were also incredibly meticulous in their clean-up; not only did they install everything extremely tidily (my husband went up on the roof later and checked it all out), they also removed leftover junk on the roof from a long-gone swamp cooler, and cleaned that up. When the new thermostat went in in our hallway, they removed the old one and another useless piece of hardware, and neatly spackled over all the holes. All my husband needed to do was paint the small area, and the wall was perfect. We were both very impressed with the extra work done: they made a point of leaving work areas cleaner than they really had to, removing stuff that really had nothing to do with installing the A/C. The whole installation took a full day, as there was a little delay before the crane could arrive to put the unit on the roof. The system works beautifully; it's quieter and much more efficient than the old one. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat.

.I decided the cost of the proposed work was too much at the time and I would only do the solar shades because of how little I sed the systems, AC only four times last year, and only do the solar shades. Learning about my systems and about what would be useful to do was still important.

While the blower change-out was expensive, that's not their fault... it's just an expensive part. The repair was fast and they had a portable to heater to use while the part was on order. Before the AC was run this spring they came out for a tune-up call and the tech was great. Very knowledgeable and made helpful suggestions without just sounding like a salesman.

Eric Lawler (Service manager) came to my house in the exact time that I was told he would arrive. He was very knowledgeable about all of my AC needs, and also explained to me what I can do preventive maintenance. He came out and serviced my unit inside and outside and sat down with myself and went over every detail. At no time did I feel pressured to make a decision about a repair that needed to be taken care of. Please if you or anyone that you care for needs any AC or heating work make sure they call Intelligent Design and ask for Eric.

The company preformed all the maintenance that I expected. The technician checked all current readings to see that they were withing required specifications to keep the unit running at peak performance. The compressor coils were cleaned to ensure that minimum resistance for air to flow through the coils. The inside temperature were read to ensure proper cooling. The technician was very professional in his approach to checking the unit and on completion kept asking if I was satisfied with the total service. I highly recommend this firm for work on Heating and Cooling equipment from installing to troubleshooting and repairing.

The installation went very well. We scheduled it for a little over a week from when we signed the paperwork, but the old A/C died before the scheduled installation date. It was the middle of July. They sent over a technician to try to resurrect the old unit, and when that didn't work, they moved our installation up so we only went without A/C for a couple days. The installation went flawlessly. They arrived when they said they would, and with the exception of having one replacement register being the wrong size, they completed the work as scheduled. I wholeheartedly recommend Intelligent Design for anyone needing quality HVAC products and services. I will absolutely be using them when I purchase the remainder of the equipment they recommended to provide optimal climate control for my home.

I'm not sure why there are so many rave reviews on the company yet I only experience less than tolerable service. As a business owner, I understand how critical customer service is as well, the importance of referrals for new customers. Perhaps Intelligent Design should re-evaluate their service department?

Everything went well. They were also cooperative when we had to reschedule the service which was very nice.

I found iDesign from Angie's List and needed someone to take care of an Arizona rental house, with me being in Maryland. After sending an email on Sunday, I got a quick response from Andrew, the owner, that night, and his team were at my house early in the morning with a diagnosis of a dead furnace -- 40 years old, and there's NOTHING on the market today that would last that long anyway. So I needed someone to work with me from long distance and politely deal with the elderly renters in the house. Everything went really well, and they offered up a financing same-as-cash option, to help me balance out the cost against the rents. I highly commend Kelsi for coordinating the efforts, and Andrew, for his oversight and management. The installers did a great job, and got me the before-n-after pictures in a day. Kelsi was especially helpful in getting my machine registered to ensure the double-warranty period as well. The only problem I had was with Kim (in the finance department) and Tim (a back office engineer who rarely works with the public): they delayed the process of providing me information, costing me a few hours of waiting for status and information. I only mention these two because everyone else was uniformly great. But their delay compounded the time it took to get everything done, and the two hour time zone difference made it less than a great experience. When I emailed Kelsi and Andrew about my frustration with the experience, I was really impressed with the way Andrew listened to my concerns, and took steps to ensure that things were made right. My renters were happy with the way the installers worked with them, and the furnace got replaced within a day.

I had a less than desirable experience with the first tech, but the staff that visited me today completely made me understand why this company has the great reputation that it does. From explaining everything in layman's terms to giving me ideas how to save money and increase efficiency, this company has the customer's needs in the forefront of their mind. Everyone has a bad day, these folks have completely erased that first occurance and made me a happy customer.

The service did not turn out too bad. I paid an additional amount, because it was a an older system. What stood out was how fast they actually got out here.

Heard about Intelligent Design on K-Love Radio, and we couldn't be happier - they did a fabulous job. Very professional, honest about their work, great follow through. Installation was smooth, techs were personable and cleaned up beautifully after themselves. They were a bit more costly than a few other quotes for similar systems, but Intelligent Design was frankly worth the bit extra for the timeliness, the honesty, and the quality of work. Only issue I can even think of (and I had to think about it for a while :) was that the sales folks weren't very clear on a few definitions (ie difference between simple & compounded interest loans, some electrical terms) - but it is in no way a poor reflection on the company, they are human and didn't have every single answer readily available. A+ for these guys. At the very least, give them a chance to give you an estimate.

It was fine and I had no problem at that time. I paid more than the deal because I bought a package from them. They were on time and courteous. They were professional.

Contractor was not the cheapest but had the best value in an overall package. Even after the job was completed they determined a larger and better unit was needed to meet the needs of the property and in fact upgraded the unit free of cost. This was particularly impressive as the "wrong" unit they initially installed worked perfectly. I would have never known the better as the unit met the capacities called for on the property and in the contract. They determined the issue on their own, asked my permission and came out after the sale and removed the "wrong" unit then installed a high efficiency unit with more features and more capacity. I totally trust this contractor. They could have left this as is and I'm sure the unit would have worked fine for a long time after the warranty expired before problems occurred but they went over and above to ensure it was done right. I will use them again for any work they do when the time comes.

Very professional service person came to the house. Completed the AC testing / inspection. Unfortunately the visit turned into a sales pitch for a very expensive service / maintenance program. Haven't done the research to see if the proposed service agreement is a good deal but it was an awful lot of money ($2700 for 10 years).

The company was quick to respond to our purchase of the deal. An appointment was set within one week of the purchase of the deal. The technician was timely and thorough.
