Intelligent Design Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Solar, & Electric

5/29/15 - Purchased an Intelligent Design Air Conditioning and Heating service check up on the HVAC. Daniel V. came out completed inspection while discussing everything that was being checked. Very impressed that before items were checked/measured Daniel would state what type of measurement he was looking for and what would be a good, marginal and poor. Definitely the best A/C company in Tucson I've dealt with in my 10 years here in Tucson. Next time I need AC or heating repair Daniel V at Intelligent Design is whom I'll call.

Very well. They also suggested that we remove our Culligan water treatment system and replace it with their water treatment system.

Showed up when expected. Checked the hot water heater and explained what he was doing. Made recommendations to improve/make draining water heater easier.

We received a quality efficient furnace and AC. Solar Solutions installed the solar panels and control system including installing the power conduit in the attic rather than across and over the roof tile. The solar system provides 3.0 KW measurable power on an ideal solar day. This is from a 3.3 KW peak power system. We are pleased with a more efficient system, quality system, the tax saving, and the power production we are receiving.

Went perfectly. The service technician (John) called when he was on the way. He arrived at the beginning of the 2 hour service window and immediately completed the work. While he was there I requested an estimate on some additional future projects and he thoroughly went about looking at the scope of the projects and giving me a written estimate. I just called yesterday to see about going forward on those additional projects. I have had Intelligent Design do quite a bit of work at my home (new central heat/air system, duct sealing, hot water heater, etc) and have always been impressed with the quality of work as well as the value for the price. They are my go-to company for heating/cooling and plumbing work and I'm quick to jump when they offer Angie's List Big Deals.

First of all, to be completely fair and up-front about this, the service technician who came out to our house today was top-notch. He deserves a raise for his professionalism and knowledge. He spent more time looking at our air conditioning system than all the other service providers we've used in the past combined and obviously took great care to completely test and evaluate the system. The deal through Angie's List for a system checkup was extremely fair ($69) and Intelligent Design did excellent work. There was nothing really wrong with our system (which is only about 4 years old). My problem, however is in the "deal" we were offered as a follow-on to the service call. I was told we should have a surge protector at the A/C unit, which was quoted at $381 parts and labor. We were also advised (and I think it's good advice) that we should consider having a flood protection device installed to prevent potential damage from water overflow, and this was quoted at $285. The technician said, however, that both of these items would be "completely free" if we would sign a five year maintenance contract at $980. While on the surface this sounds like a good deal (who wouldn't want over $600 off??), it also got my antennas up. This means, and the research I did seemed to prove it, that the prices for the surge protector and flood protection devices were overstated, probably by a very wide margin. There is simply no way that any company would offer over $600 in parts and labor to get a 5-year service contract for $980 if it really cost them anywhere near that much to seal the deal. This also means that I could almost certainly expect any further services from Intelligent Design to be summarily overpriced, probably substantially negating any of the "savings" and other values built in to the 5-year service contract. In other words, labor and most certain parts will be vastly overpriced. Although I really liked the technician and it was clear he knew what he was doing and was extremely talented, I had a feeling of eventually being taken to the cleaners by Intelligent Design. Sorry, but no deal from us.

First, see above. Second, while the guy who came out seemed very sincere and professional, I was truly taken aback at the price he quoted me for replacing my water heater. He also tried to sell me a maintenance plan for that as well as my Furnace and A/C, even though I already have a provider I am very happy with. After checking around a bit after they left, I found another company, Just Water Heaters, who replaced my heater with the same specs. for about half the price I do not think I will ever use Intelligent Design again because I just don't trust that they have my best interests at heart.

Schedules in a few days of request around my schedule, Called prior to arrival. Placed protective covers on shoes despite my home being in utter chaos. Encouraged me to observe what he was doing. Pointed out problem areas and what I could do to correct problem. He was polite. Explained other services available through Intelligent Design without pressure. I have used in the past and will use again. Would recommend to neighbors.

Mr. Greene went up on the roof to examine the condenser and found it was running well, pressure was good, amp draw is within operating perameters and cooling properly.

Went so well that I signed up for a 5 year maintenance contract.

We had an issue and worked to resolve it

I had a planned maintenance scheduled for a Friday between 12-3. The tech did not show or call, so I had to reschedule. When he came out the next week, he was only on the roof 10 minutes and said everything was okay. Customer service called the next day to see how everything went. I said good except he was only here 10 minutes. If that's how long it was supposed to take, then everything's good. To make sure he didn't miss anything and to make sure I was happy they sent out the service manager himself to service my A/C. I didn't tell them they needed to, they just did it to be sure. ID does whatever is necessary to make sure you are happy. Strongly recommended.

The installer had communicated with me by phone earlier regarding a detail question on size of product. He was very prompt and communicated well throughout the installation process. I was impressed with his workmanship and attention to detail. Upon completion the installer arranged for an A/C checkup which followed the next week with good results.

Bought a special on Angie's list - they came out and checked the AC for the upcoming summer. I ended up buying an annual service agreement for them to come out 2x per year to check AC and furnace. The tech was on-time and friendly.

Excellent engagement. Arrived on time, pleasant personnel, professional work. All for a good price. What more could you ask for?

In the process of purchasing a new home, I wanted to get an inspection done of the sewage line running from the house to the city line since the line has not been upgraded since its build in 1968 and a large tree dominated the backyard. Shopping around local companies that perform a sewage line scope, I came upon Intelligent Design. It was highly rated and reviewed. Over the phone they were courteous and professional, booking my request within 24 hours and charging a fee for the service that bested all other competitors I contacted prior. Since it was a home I was in the process of purchasing, I was not physically there when the service was performed. To alleviate any concerns I had due to my absence, the Intelligent Design professional, John, called me up and walked me through what he saw on the scope, informing me both the current condition of the line and the likely price should the nearby tree infiltrate the line and require replacement. As a first-time home-buyer, Intelligent Design's quick and thorough service was a welcomed relief from the other hoops I was jumping through. I highly recommend this company and will definitely seek out their service in the future.

The service that Daniel provided was outstanding and "above and beyond". As a result of his time and energy, our units are in top shape. If Daniel is an example of the Intelligent Design staff, you can see why they consistently are rated A. We purchased a maintenance agreement and feel that we are in "good hands"

It went fine and I was happy with them. Everything was in good working order. It is an older unit and I probably need to replace it. I asked them to come out and give me an estimate and something happen and they weren't able to come out. I ended up going with a different company for the replacement. They did a good job.

Unfortunately, while putting in the sink their employee broke a small chip out of the counter top. We called the representative John Mancini, and from there on I've never had better customer service. John inspected the damage that day and in short order had another contractor come out to see about repairing the damage. The repair work was substantial and I'm sure expensive, but John had the work done while always being apologetic about the original damage and any inconvenience it had caused us. I'm sure ID lost big money on this job, but John was an excellent representative for his company. Accidents happen with tradesmen. What happens next counts for everything. I'll use Intelligent design for all our air conditioning and plumbing needs.

Service for A/C unit was performed and the technician seemed very knowledgeable about the A/C system that I have on my house. Will use the service again.

Last year a purchased a new air conditioner from a different company. Along with the purchase, I received two years of free maintenance. When the technician (who was also the gentleman who sold me the unit) came for my free check, he examined the unit and said that there was dust on the coils and that I now needed to purchase something called Aero Seal for an additional $1200 to $1500. Since I had been assured that all my problems would be solved with the purchase of the new AC unit, which cost over $10,000, needless to say I was stunned. I pointed out that the people from his company who installed the unit had said that the duct work was good. And I was already saving money. When I contacted the company about this, they sent out a new person who explained everything to me, which was helpful, but I realized in all of this that I simply did not trust this company. That's when I checked the Angie's List reviews for air conditioning companies and found Intelligent Design, which rightfully has an A rating and numerous reviews. I called to schedule a check, and Kevin Green is the person who came out. I did not tell him anything about Aero Seal or the other company. After spending a good amount of time on my roof checking the unit, he returned to tell me that it was in great condition! He didn't try to sell me anything!!!! He was incredibly knowledgeable; he was extremely nice; and he was also honest. From my prior experience, I had wondered if perhaps AC companies were all dishonest, but I'm ready to proclaim that Kevin C Greene of Intelligent Design is an honest man! It may be a miracle. Despite having 11/2 years of free maintenance remaining from the company from whom I bought the unit, I signed up for 3 years of service from Intelligent Design. Kevin explained everything about the plan and what it meant to me. He even threw in a free surge protector for the unit and kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to do it since I still had the free service from the other company. Honesty is so refreshing!

My first servicing with Intelligent Design did not go entirely well, but John and Reggie went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied with the work being done and to re-establish trust. I certainly appreciate the extra time and effort they put in for the issue with my system; will be using them again in the future. Thank you.

The provider was very professional. He called 30 minutes before he arrived, introduced himself and why he was there, placed shoe covers on his feet before walking through the house, and explained what he was doing, every step of the way. He found a couple of slow leaks and suggested that we buy a toilet kit and have our drip irrigation system checked.

Did good job, would recommend and use again.
