I think the price was fair and it was definitely a good deal. They were punctual. I signed up with a yearly maintenance package with them.

In June 2015 the owner of my house signed up for the Preventive Maintenance Club at Intelligent Design Air Conditioning and Heating. Over the next year there were three visits from Intelligent Design personnel for my systems - each visit was a TOTAL DISASTER. On 08 Jul 2016 the owner requested that association with this maintenance program be terminated and the unused portion of the payment be returned. The cost of the maintenance program was $1600 for five years (covering two AC/heating systems), which is $320 per year or $1280 for the unused remaining four years of the plan. In addition, damaged caused to the ceiling during visit #2, discussed below, is estimated at $145 in repair costs. For these items Intelligent Design owes $1425. In addition, during the first visit, the technician grossly overcharged an AC system with freon and charged $300 for the freon, which was subsequently squirted out onto the property. There was no refund for this $300 for wasted freon. Adding this to the previous amount bring a total of $1725. Intelligent Design has not provided the requested refund. Summary of Visits by Intelligent Design technicians: #1. Using a faulty pressure gauge, the technician grossly overcharged an AC unit at a cost of $300 in freon. The unit then overheated and completely stopped working. The technician returned and using a correctly working gauge determined the gross overcharging. The excess freon was squirted out and the unit cooled with massive amounts of water. The unit now makes sounds suggesting there was some damaged done to the compressor. #2. The second visit was to inspect the furnaces in the attic. A trainee was the only person in the attic. He walked in places he should not have and damaged the ceiling. I was told that this trainee was judged to be so incompetent he was subsequently fired by Intelligent Design. #3 The third visit was again to check the AC units. Two costly "repairs" were recommend by the technician. Being extremely suspicious of the capabilities of Intelligent Design technicians at this point, a well-know, well-regarded, competent professional AC maintenance firm was called to examine the units. That technician thoroughly documented that the "repairs" proposed by Intelligent Design are BOGUS and unneeded. This technician described the recommendations of Intelligent Design as either a "scam: or the result of "gross incompetence and ignorance." The management chose NOT to do so - further defining the nature of the operation. CAVEAT EMPTOR !!!

Great! Worked with the airflow in our house to get it right.

Excellent service starting with the initial phone call to the time when the tech arrived. Everyone was courteous and professional. The fan motor was replaced. The tech had one in his truck. He was in and out within 45 minutes leaving us with a fully functioning and cooling air conditioner!!!

Two gentlemen arrived and performed their task quickly, professionally. Yes, I would hire this company again.

My ductless AC unit was blowing warmer than usual so I took advantage of the Angie's list deal. Everything went very well when the technician came up to do the repair. He checked the system and he added the refrigerant. It was working as good as it ever had. He said there might be a place where the unit was leaking but he couldn't tell where. He didn't seem overly concerned and we even joked about it being another 3 or 4 years before I had to get it serviced again. About 5 weeks after the repair the unit started blowing warm again. It was so bad I could not use the guest house (which is my office). I called them back several times. Finally I got through and the woman on the other end basically told me I was out of luck (not in those words exactly). She didn't give me even an option with their company to get this issue remedied. After I pressed her for options she said I could call the service manager the following week. He was much more helpful then the other lady when I call him, but the answer was still unsatisfactory. They wanted to charge me another service charge and an additional fee because their company is in Tucson and I'm in Phoenix. And in addition to those charges there would be the repair cost plus materials. The amount was so hight that I could buy a new unit for what they wanted to charge me! I was extremely frustrated with the response. Needless to say I didn't take him up on their offer. It's be so bad in that room that I've had to move my office equipment into my house temporarily to be able to get my work done until this issue is worked out.

They were punctual, courteous, and helpful. Although our air conditioner is in good shape, I would not hesitate to call them for repairs in the future.

The service was excellent. I have used them before, I will use them again. I recommend their service.

Another excellent service call from Intelligent Design. They have been our go-to contractor for all of our heat/cooling, plumbing and other home system services for 5+ years and we are always impressed with the quality and value of the work performed and professionalism of their personnel. They do all those things you hope a contractor would and should do like call ahead to confirm appointment, show up on time, perform services efficiently and professionally, clean up when they're done, follow up with you afterwards to see if everything went well. The owner himself called me the day after the service was done to see how everything went. We looked at a lot of contractors before going with Intelligent Design and we can honestly say we made the right choice.

From the first call by Bret to his analysis, we finally (after 3 tries) got a reasonable solution to our air flow issues. The team that did the work did an outstanding job and left all areas in good shape. The sealing was expensive, but on this 50 year old house, it reduced the duct leakage by over 96% from a high of over 150 CFM. We found greatly increased air flow throughout the house and no cutting or changing of duct work was needed. THe team did an initial balance of the registers.

Did not show up on time, called office they lost my Email confirmation of appointment. They scrambled to find someone available to come, he came without a hose or other tools as he had the wrong truck. I was not interested in all the other promised inspections and told him to just flush the water heater. He was finished fast and spent most of his time on his electronic report writer. The flushing was too fast and not enough water was run through, the water heater still is popping as sediment is still on the bottom of the tank.

It went well. I did have to call back a couple of times because my water was running rust. I hate to blame because I don't feel it was the guys fault because this would happen but I wasn't aware of it. So, I had to Google it and then I called once or twice but they were very courteous and kind about it but they said let it run for a while, so that would be my only problem with them and I wasn't really expecting it and I didn't know how long I would have to let it run. All in all it turned out right. He did mention that something with one of the valves was a little loose but I didn't know that myself because I never had an issue with it. The responsiveness was very good.

Arrived promptly on time, explained in great detail the possible issues for energy leakage. Would recommend to any others looking to get better efficiency in their home.

John was on time and called 30 min before arrival. He brought clip-on boots to cover work shoes. I liked them a lot. I used them before for A/C inspection. That time, they were also on time and courteous. Go local Tucson!

I tried to be fair. The guy didn't really tell me anything that I didn't already know. I wasn't really impressed. I wished that he had used a hand-held device that will tell you what the temperature is in different parts of the house if there was cold infiltration or heat infiltration. He pretty much did it where he put the thing on the front door that was supposed to simulate a 120-mile wind. He went around each window and felt to see if he could feel any airflow. There's more to it than airflow. I wasn't really as impressed. There's better technology that they should have employed. I don't believe they use the latest technology.

The tech (Mario?) arrived and removed the covers on the shower valve and tried to pull out the defective value. No matter how hard he tried to pull out the defective valve it would not release. I was concerned that the wall or copper pipes might break or give. I asked the tech if he had a plumbing tool that would fix on the front of the valve housing and had an attachment that would attach to the value and pull against the housing so as to extract the value without pulling on the wall and pipes. Mario(?) said he had the tool but did not have it with him. He asked if he could come back the next day-I said yes. He did come back the following day and was able to pull the valve out -then took the valve to a plumbing store and purchased the correct valve -came back and installed it. Mario said he would just go with the $99 voucher (valued at $200) I had purchased even tho he had made a couple of trips. I was glad to get the valve fixed as I had to keep shutting my water off at the street prior to it being fixed so I did not complain. However I thought the visit would have been only one if the correct tool had been available. I did like Mario for his friendly demeanor and willingness to help so maybe the price was right after all. I do plan on using the company again as needed if we can agreed on the work to be done and the pricing.

It was great. Fast, simple, easy, punctual.

Excellent repair man, very professional and knew what he was doing. Informed me of choices and no pressure.

1/31/16 Intelligent Design Air Conditioning and Heating. I would name them Incompetent Design Air Condition and Heating. Now going by Intelligent Design Cooling, Heating and Plumbing. My experience first started in July of 2015 and as of January 31, 2016 has not yet ended. At the time I called for service. Tom was the person I contacted. He was a person my brother knew from the construction industry and he always took care of me because of my medical issues. The company came out right a way and determined the old system needed to be replaced. Once again a heart-ship being on a fixed low income. Tom said they had a 4 ton unit he could give to me at a really good price because they had installed it wrong on another house. It should have been a 5 ton they put on that other house. That should have been the first sign. It still took several days to install, so I stayed at my daughters house. After installing the unit and a day later I went outside to inspect the unit. As it is ground set. Before they brought out the unit I asked if it would fit on the concrete pad the old unit is on. They said yes. The new unit hangs over the concrete pad it doesn't fit. Then I noticed a screw missing in the cover panel as it was open on one side. The fan on top was vibrating when the unit would run and cold air was leaking outside at the supply duct. Called Tom and he had the guys back out the next day. They had to take the whole unit apart to seal the duct work from the inside and fixed everything but the concrete pad that is to small now. At that time they were also going to switch the heating system from natural gas to propane. Tom said they had to order the part and could they replace it in October before it got cold outside. I said yes. Another mistake. The end of October I call Tom but only to get answering machines. After leaving several messages and several days going by I call the company and come to find out Tom isn't there anymore. But the guy I talked to said he remembered the deal and he would have the Field Supervisor call me. Several days go by and I call again , The office girl said she would have the Field Supervisor call me. Finally she called me back and said they would order the part. I told the Tom already did. She replied they received the wrong part. I was told it would take 2 - 12 working days. 14 Working days I called back. Wrong part again. They will reorder it again. So after I decided to right a review on Angie's List. Wow I got a call the very next day. Jason the General Manager said he would take care of everything. He said they would order the part and have it in two days. The second day he called and said it would be in the next day and they would install it that day. They did. Jason then wanted to talk about what would make me happy for all the trouble I went through. He suggested a 5 year service contact. I said no because I was thinking of all the trouble I just had. I suggested a partial refund of 10%. I thought he was going blow a gasket. We finally as he put it made a gentleman's agreement for $150.00 if I was to remove the bad feedback. He is not a person of his word, the check is in the mail and the bookkeeper was stealing company funds. If they hire people like that I don't want them in my house. So here is the true review which is what Angie's list is all about. The one I should have left to begin with. Don't let companies bribe you or con you into anything but the truth. The technician doing the energy audit taught me a lot about how my house works. I am learning that the more I know about how things work in my home, the less likely I am to get overcharged or sold on things I don't actually need. The energy audit didn't take long, it was a fairly simple process of blowing all of the air out of my home (de-pressurizing) and then feeling areas where air was escaping in and out. I was surprised by some of the areas, I never would have expected things like my outlets and light switches to be leaking air. They gave me tips on things that I could do myself to better weatherize my home, and educated me on options for things they could do for me. These options aren't cheap, but in most cases, you get what you pay for. I plan to have them conduct Aerosol on my ducts to get my house in better shape. They may charge more than the average, but they are the most up-front and thorough HVAC people I've dealt with yet (and I've had quite a few bad apples in that area). I highly recommend working with this company. They value integrity, are very professional and provide a wholistic approach to the home.

replaced faucetts and shutoff valves. Valves were extra. Used braided steel water lines. This as extra @$150.00

It was okay. I thought probably it could have been a little bit better. The guy came over and he basically went through everything in the house. He had a lot of suggestions about things that needed to be taken care of. For $30 to flush out our water heater seemed a little expensive. He told us with some things that I was worried about and he confirmed that there were things that I needed to be concerned about. I think that Intelligent Design is mostly an air conditioning place and they contracted out with this particular person who was doing plumbing. I would give them a C because I was not their main business.
