The solutions proposed by the landscape designer were very creative. She was very responsive to our requests and ideas. We are very happy with the environment, smells and wildlife it attracts. However, over the course of the project the workers worked very slowly and the progress showed it (long and frequent breaks). We advised the foreman, but it didn't seem to make any difference. After the project was completed, we experienced some flooding in the back yard during monsoon rains because the drainage grade wasn't done properly. (This had never happened previously.) We called the owner to explain that the water was backing up toward the back entry and she refused to do anything about it, saying "oh, this is just normal after strong rains". Even after showing photos of the flooded area, she would not budge. There was also an issue with an ocotillo they planted that died within a few months. After requesting a replacement she said they never guarantee ocotillos. But there was nothing in our contract regarding that exception. Our rating is a mixed bag. Some of the employees are very responsive and professional. Others, not. The quality of the design and the outcome worked well for us. My advice is make sure the contract is explicit in what you want or be prepared to get stiffed.

Jonathan's design was just what I wanted and I could make adjustments. Installation team was quick and professional. Maintenance crew always asks if there is anything particular that needs attention and does more than just maintenance if I have plants that I need installed.

We have a difficult grounds situation. Our house bridges an arroyo which serves runoff water from the Catalinas. Its hard to access. After several landscaping companies told us that they couldn’t get into the area to remove fire-danger grasses, I asked my Mother for a recommendation. She’s used Horticulture Unlimited for years. What a great recommendation. Horticulture Unlimited was able to access the area, remove the grasses, dead trees and beautify arroyo with new plantings. Dawn, who is and expert in desert plants, came up with a great plan for blooming plants around our pool, front yard and courtyard. We have color year-round. She also created a remake of our courtyard water feature. She found us beautiful pots for the water feature and around the pool. Horticulture Unlimited also does bi-weekly maintenance, and they keep everything looking lush and neat. Dawn and David are very responsive and creative. Their team is hardworking. Excellent job. Ron and Jose have done work at a property several times and they always do a great job. Ron is very knowledge regarding trees and what needs to be done. He always has great advice. The work is done professionally, quickly and clean up is always excellent. They are a pleasure to have at our property.

The work they did exceeded my expectations. They not only did it all in two days, but their cleanup was so meticulous that you could not tell that any work had been done - just that everything looked clean, fresh and well-maintained. We will have them in the future as we need other work done.

I have done business with Horticulture Unlimited (HU) for years...thousands of dollars worth. Dawn has been extremely hard to work with, the entire time, but I continued to use their services because of their wonderful arborist, Michael. Every year, I had request services through Dawn and had to wait for months to get an appointment. Eventually, after multiple contacts, the work request would get to Michael and he did his magic. In August 2016, I asked Dawn for a quote to remove the fallen tree and for a separate quote to plant a new palo verde. HU sent me to look at replacement trees at Mesquite Valley Growers, so that I could compare the cost for them picking out a tree there, purchasing it and planting it to a cost for them planting a tree that I bought and had delivered. The quotes from HU were $1275 to remove the tree and haul away all of the debris and $400-$450 for purchasing and planting the new tree. Based on the quotes that I received, I scheduled the removal of the tree, the tree was removed and I paid HU $1275. Two weeks after the original quotes and after the removal of the tree was complete, Dawn sent me an e-mail message that the cost for the new tree would be $650. I refused that up-charge and am left without a replacement tree. I tried to talk to Dawn about honoring her very-current quote but she refused. As a side note, HU had some woman come to my house and haul away large trunk segments of the old mesquite tree. Maybe they sold that, for more money from the job that I paid for. Who knows? I do know that Michael would have talked to me about this, if it were his doing. I did not want the wood but I was not consulted and I came home, mid-removal, to find the lady's pick-up truck pulling out of my yard with the wood. At the end of November, Michael left the company for another opportunity. I will never do business with these people, again. They lost a long-time customer and all references from me for their lack of integrity.

Ron, Eddy and Jose did a great job. They arrived on time. They worked tirelessly and left the property cleaner than when they arrived.

Ron and Devin did a great job. They were prompt, polite and cleaned up after the work. They went above and beyond what was required.

From the initial meeting until the end of the job, Dave Morris took complete control. He quickly provided a plan with a great deal of detail, and had a breakdown of what each step of the job would cost. He discussed alternatives and suggested ways we might save money. He answered all our questions and sent us photographs of the plants he had selected. From the demolition to the very end of the job, everything went smoothly from our perspective. This is not to say that there were not some interesting discoveries and some issues, but this company has the equipment and the knowledge to make very difficult tasks look relatively easy. All their employees were very professional and respectful not only of us but of the property, their equipment, and each other. This rather large job was essentially completed as projected. When we left town, Dave kept us updated with progress reports including photos of the latest stages of implementation. If I had another big job, I would not hesitate to utilize their services again.

Very nice. I've used them once before and they pulled the tree trunk out so I knew they were determined to do a good job so I asked them to put a wall and a backyard gate up. He was very good.

We had done work with Horticulture before, and spent a lot of money (>$10,000) This time, not only did they not match the stone that was currently on the ground (they never notified us that it was not available either by phone or change to the contract), but their onsite manager went out, purchased similar, bigger and cheaper stone without consulting us, and delivered it and had spread approximately 1/3 of it on the ground before my husband discovered the difference.Because the stone had been staged in the wash next to the house, my husband gave them permission to spread the rest in order to get the stone out of the wash (HOA regulations) Horticulture still wanted full payment for the work and stone. We offered payment for all the ground work, and in good faith paid Horticulture's workers for spreading the stone. But we did not pay them for the stone, as they would not reorder the stone we wanted, nor would they pick up and replace the stone that they has ordered without our consent. Word of advice. Horticulture's quality of work is good, but they seem to be naive about writing contracts and sticking to them. Be careful to make sign-offs on all aspects and all purchases for your work, if you use them . We would not recommend them, nor ever hire them for another job, due to the lack professionalism in their contracting and sign off procedures.

Prompt, curteous. Came out a couple times after to clean out the valve.

After more than a month with no problems we got our water bill and it was triple what it normally had been for the past year since we bought the house and a large amount of water was pooling up in certain areas. We called the Horticulture Unltd and they sent a gentleman out the following day. He was literally here for less than 5 minutes. He said that the irrigation system was set to run 8 hours per day and that is what the problem was. He set it up differently, charged us $60 and left. We called the company shortly after that to request a refund since it was their technician that had set it up incorrectly to begin with. After much discussion they said they would refund the $60. 6 weeks later we still haven't received our refund. We spent over $300 extra on water and ruined a few plants in the meantime and are very disappointed in their customer service.

When they they wanted to raise our monthly rate, we switched to another provider. We now pay significantly less and our landscaping has never looked better.

This was a very disappointing experience for me. I've been working on updating my house - additional insulation to the attic, roof replacement, house painting - and I wanted to find a yard service that would periodically maintain my yards. I met with Dawn, and everything sounded fine. However, the service itself was not. Getting a date for the work was rushed, and I ended with one where I had other commitments so that I wasn't around much to supervise, which I didn't think was a problem since this was a professional entity. Wrong. I had two palm trees in the front and a sweet acacia on the side that needed pruning. Good job on the palms, mediocre job on the acacia - still had branches that were too close to the roof. Neaten up the raised bed of plants in the front - so-so. Plant two potted plants that the company provided at $60 each, including installation, in 5-gallon pots - the Mexican fence post was planted too shallowly and was leaning. There are probably a few other matters that I no longer recall. In the end - the columnar cactus was replanted to its original depth and straightened a little. As to the so-so job on the raised bed, I was told the two workers figured they'd finish taking care of it when they came back in a month. (I was paying them for the job that day, not for work in the future.) Bottom line - I was disappointed and dissatisfied and decided that this wasn't the company that was going to handle my yards on a monthly basis. My apologies for taking so long to get this review out.

From the initial meeting with John Gary on the estimate, I knew this was the right company to do business with. Professional, informed of all options and scheduling of the job was very acceptable and up front. The job started on time with John, Jose and Jesus on site. When our main water line developed leaks, John and the Horticulture Unlimited office staff were able to work with me and the City of Tucson water department to run a new water line to save the day. Despite the setback/solution caused by the new water line, the drip irrigation system was installed and ALL the plants are now on regular and timed watering. My wife and I are ecstatic on the professionalism and "get the job done no matter the obstacles" attitude of the employees of Horticulture Unlimited on this job. We thank you every day!

My experience working with them was totally very good. They are also providing monthly yard cleaning services. All of the various staff I have met have been very pleasant. One thing I have been routinely happy about is their responsiveness. All you have to do is send an email to Dawn (one of the owners) and you will get a response that day or the next. Their responsiveness is really remarkable .

They weren't very easy to get in touch with, trimmed more than we would've liked, and didn't really finish the job very well. I also had to call them twice to get a receipt. Other than that, it wasn't too bad.

The representative, John was professional and right on time. He spent more than an hour reviewing all of the systems and provided information for us to maintain it ourselves. Would recommend this company to anyone.

Horticulture Unlimited was very easy to work with. Received a professional estimate with plans by a landscape architect. Installation crew were effecient and took care to ask questions to provide the finished look we wanted. We had a couple of leaks with the irrigation system at first, and they came back to fix quickly. Jonathan was very quick to respond to any questions or issues. A pleasure to work with.

I've moved on from the issues, or I thought I had, until these past weeks I've been trying to catch up on the work required to deal with the issues of Horticulture Unlimited's work. Decomposed granite does not match at all the original granite even though the name of the color was provided. This was spread liberally so, there's really no recovery. It's not even the right size. NO repair for the manifold was done.. at all but I was fully charged for it. The manifold items needing repair were clearly stated, nothing was done. In fact, the leak was there with water to indicate the leak. The person to do the repair was on site but the nature of his work there was no evidence, none. Weeds had all the appearance of being cut down with a string trimmer. Weeds were back in force within a week, same density, same locations. Expensive. I also had Horticulture Unlimited landscape our back yard. The job was completed and it all looks very good. However, almost each and every day the brick/masonary work was being done, I had to negotiate with the gentleman on site for one thing or the other. The brick used was not as specified in the plans, he showed up with brick already purchased. When laying the flagstone steps etc., I had to haggle for 20min for him to install the way the plans specified. He trimmed the tree back to facilitate work on a tree that was thinly trimmed to begin with. It should have never been touched. Some plants used/placed were not as specified in the plan but honestly, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things for me, but maybe for you. Four areas where drip irrigation was laid never received sufficient flow to keep plants healthy. That should have been a snap given a new installation of plants and irrigation. The managers and office are very professional. Estimates provided are very straight forward and complete. They will never be used again. Never. Charles

Very well. At one point, the valves did not work and Horticulture came back and repaired them. They have also been willing to adjust the timer and put in some lines to plants that have been added to the landscaping.

They did a great job. They were punctual and professional. I liked the flat fee charge for the work so I didn't have to worry about how many people and/or hours it took them to do the work. We received quotes from a number of providers and all would have likely cost more per their quotes.
