Hart Restoration and Remodeling

Have to say this was the worst experience ever. I dont even know where to begin. I will start with the fact that they do not communicate with the client at all. My mother was not given a choice in the counter or tile that was going to be installed. They would schedule time and days and never show up. They have been on this 3-5 day project for 4+ months now. They ordered a counter top that did not fit in the master bathroom so cut out wall and frame work (without discussing with the home owners) to install it in the wall. When we mentioned it they tried to get us to overlook it like it was normal procedure, not to mention they cracked the counter top and tried to cover it up. They installed tile extremely uneven and then they tried to blame the dog for what was a poorly executed and installed job. Every time they left I had to walk through and pick up nails, broken pieces of tiles, etc. We wave a 6yr old, twin 5month old and a dog, they gave no consideration for their safety. Any time we attempted to discuss the haphazard, lazy and unprofessional work being done the lead guy on the job (Kelly) was down right rude and combative (This is the guy that tried to blame uneven tile on a dog that was never in the bathroom in question). I highly recommend you find someone else.

Anthony Schlittenhart (goes by Tony Schlittenhart) and his crew were chosen by our rental agency to tear down and rebuild our patio awning. They tore it down one day, then afterward informed us they still had not received the materials to rebuild it, so it would be another week before they could rebuild...leaving us a week without any sort of roof over our patio, in July, in Tucson. That should have been the first warning sign of what was to come. We found over 50 bent, rusty nails in our yard after they left that first day, which is scary for us considering we have young children who play in our yard daily, and they knew we had kids, but never apparently felt the need to clean up a single nail. When they came back to begin the rebuild a week later, they dropped one guy off to work alone. He worked for about an hour and a half, then sat down in my patio furniture and proceeded to take a nap. Yes, he literally put his hat over his face and slept in my yard for over an hour. When he woke up, he packed up his tools and Tony picked him up. That was his day's work, was to nap in my yard. My husband caught them before they drove away and sternly let them know leaving rusty nails all over our yard and taking naps on the job was unacceptable, and asked them not to come back until they found some professionalism. Over the next two weeks (this was supposed to be a three day job!) the crew got ruder and less considerate. They would show up at varying times each day and never let us know when they were coming...some days 8am, some days 9:30am, some days noon. They typically worked 2-4 hours then left. They still left nails in our yard each day, and at some point they drilled two holes through my master bedroom wall. In the third WEEK (remember, three day job) of this project, Tony saw my husband in the driveway and began a shouting match. As best as we can tell, he was disgruntled that my husband had complained about the rusty nails and the nap. He told my husband never to talk to his crew again, then called my husband a pr*ck. I asked him how he could claim to be a professional after calling a customer such a name, and he said, "He's not my customer." So be warned...Hart Restoration will only consider you a person worth respecting if you own the home they are working on. We tried to reason with him despite his insults and his obvious desire to pick a fight, but he kept insulting, shouting, and would not even hold a conversation. We did not allow him to speak to us that way and he didn't like that, so he threatened to call the police (I'm still not sure what he would have even told them in his defense) then he quit the job. I am nothing but relieved that we will not have to deal with them again. Now we are left with a skeleton of a roof, which under closer examination, looks like it will fall down in a stiff breeze. Three weeks of work, and all they managed was a shoddy skeleton of a structure. I looked up their business online in an effort to see if anyone else has had such a terrible experience with these guys, but alas, there is almost no information about them out there - seems to me like they change their business name regularly so as to avoid building the hideous reputation they deserve. Save yourself a major headache, and avoid this group of imbeciles.
