While waiting the day, I read online about the soldering and the fix required and did it myself with parts from Ace Hardware. When I called to cancel the appointment, they verified I made the right fix procedure. Will call again and use for a more serious plumbing problem next time.
Description of Work: We called them for copper pipe repair during the Tucson freeze which affected half the city overnight with burst pipes. Every handyman and plumber was making a list and said it would be 3-5 days before they could come out. We mentioned to Handyman Connection we were Angies List members, and he was able to fit us in the following day, (two days earlier than the eight other companies we called). Very responsive and courteous over the phone as well.

Shawn came out on a Friday afternoon within an hour of when I called Handyman Connection. I explained our situation over the phone so he had an idea of what to expect. My husband found that the buried water line in the backyard was gushing. He began to dig and found the hole and turned off the water. Shawn came with the intention of just replacing the section of line that was broken but after he dug more it was obvious that the whole line would have to be replaced. It was very old and corroded. Since it would soon be dark, he said he would come back the next day (Saturday). Knowing we were without water, he rented a ditch witch and bought the pvc replacement pipe. We didn't have to do anything. Shawn and his son worked the entire day and vowed they wouldn't leave until our water was restored. There were several places in the yard where the soil was too sandy or too rocky to use the ditch witch and they had to dig by hand. NOT an easy job in Arizona soil! They were friendly, professional and a delight for the entire day. They kept a positive attitude through the whole job even when the going was very tough. AND they came in UNDER the estimate! We are extremely pleased with every aspect of the work.
Description of Work: Gave an estimate of time and price and intended to start the job. But had to come back the next day to replace our water line in the backyard.

I've used them over and over again and I like them. They are good and reliable people. Normally they are prompt, there was a little timing problem with this one. The workers are always courteous, the company keeps in connection with you. They're price is a little high but they're reliable. The woman who set up the appointment screwed up and the appointment time but they took responsibility for it.

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Bob showed up on time, gave me a reasonable estimate, and I said to go ahead. He was able to do it right away, so he went to home depot got the new door frame and molding and came back and took care of it. From beginning to end, including the trip to Home Depot, was about 5 hours. This experience greatly exceeded my expectations.

He was on time and gave an estimate right away. He was very presentable and nice. He did great work. Even when I called and spoke with the representative at the office I had a great experience. She called me back when she said she would, was very nice and explained to me what to expect in the visit. I would definitely use them again.

i was there for inspection/quote. I was NOT there when they did the work. Didn't say they needed medallions to cover rings on ceiling. So i had to have them come back and pay to have fans taken down, medallions installed, and fans re-installed. Seems they should have measured, checked the fans, etc. to anticipate this.

The lady at the office was friendly, pleasant and professional. Easily set up an appointment for someone to come out, take a look, and give me an estimate on whatever work was necessary. Bob, the gentleman who arrived, was punctual, professional and very nice. When I told him the problem, he took the cover off the bathroom fan, and checked the wiring and duct work. In his opinion, that all looked fine. He was careful about not stepping on the toilet seat to put the fan cover back on. Then Bob went up on the roof to check the rain cap for the bathroom fan. He showed me a bunch of debris that had collected around the base of the rain cap. He thought the debris might have been wicking moisture up into the rain cap. He told me the rain cap was very close to the drip angle of where the edge of the second story comes down to the ground level and that rain might have been bouncing up into the rain cap as a result. He bent the edge of the top of the rain cap so there will be less likelihood of that happening. Afterwards, he drew me a picture of the rain cap and the drip angle from the second story. I really appreciate him taking the time to do that. The fact is, since I know absolutely nothing about bathroom fans, I could have been taken for a ride as far as what needed to be done. That did not happen. I wanted to pay him for his time, or a trip charge, but he said no. That was very kind of him. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my experience with Handyman Connection. I would definitely work with this company again, and recommend them to other people.
Description of Work: I've been having problems with rain dripping inside the ceiling near the area of the bathroom fan. Thought there was something amiss with the rain cap for the bathroom fan, or maybe the fan and fan ducting itself. Recently had the roof totally redone by a highly reputable company, so I know the leak wasn't a result of the roof itself, or the sealing at the base of the rain cap--it was sealed up tight.

My experience with Handyman Connection started out great. They returned my call and scheduled an estimate visit promptly. Dave (the craftsman) was prompt, polite, friendly, and fair at that visit. We scheduled the repair appointment. That's when things didn't go well. My repair was scheduled for Tues, June 15. On Mon June 14 Dave called to tell me he'd be over in an hour. He discovered that the owner had written me in the wrong day on the schedule, but that he was already booked up so he couldn't come the next day as originally planned. I had to leave my work to run home, get some things set up for him (e.g. clear space), and let him in. Knowing that the company is bonded and insured I asked him to turn the knob lock on his way out, and I returned to work. I came home to find the tasks completed to varying quality. The new exterior door and trim looked great. The toilet was a dream. The ceiling patch was OK, although there were brush strokes evident from the paint job. No big deal, we have renters coming. The interior door repair seems almost non-existent, however. It's clear to me that he simply stained the scratches/bite marks in the door (damage from my dog) instead of FILLING, sanding, and staining them on the door with the worst damage. The other door, which only required a little sanding and staining, does not appear to have been touched. This was *NOT* the service I'd requested, or anticipated. The other offense I didn't realized until just this morning and it is, to me, the reason that I will not use Handyman Connection again. This morning I discovered that Dave had stowed the old exterior door (which he replaced) in locked shed on our property. I do not know how he got in there, because I did not unlock the space. Granted, it's locked with a flimsy lock because we do not keep anything valuable in there, but it is totally inappropriate for a contractor to enter a locked space. Worse, the shed is keyed to our home so I am now concerned that depending on how he got in there (e.g. finding our spare key in the drawer), a copy of our key might be floating around out there. It was also never made clear to me that disposal of the old door would be my responsibility. Every other contractor I've ever worked with has hauled their construction waste off. Now I'm stuck with having to dispose of a door. This should have been made clear to me. Despite how nice the new exterior door, trim, and toilet look, I would not use this contractor again because I was unsatisfied with their work on one of the asks, and do not feel comfortable with their approach to privacy. Dave had my cell phone #. If he needed to chat about how to dispose of the door or what I wanted done with it, he could have called me instead of violating a locked space.
Description of Work: **Please note that the money spent was labor only. I spent an additional $350.00 on materials. So, the total (materials + labor) is $900.00. I did appreciate that Dave helped me be thrifty by sending me to Home Depot with a list to purchase, instead of picking up those materials himself (which I would have been charged for his time). -- Replace exterior door -- Replace toilet -- Patch ceiling plaster damaged by leak and repaint ceiling -- Replace one piece of damaged interior trim -- Repair two interior doors by sanding, filling, and restaining

Not a great experience. The estimate was professional, but it was not made clear that the materials were in addition to the cost which I thought was high, but was willing to accept given the high rating on the web site. I waited 2 hours one day for him to show up. The quality of both stucco and plaster were poor. I could have done it myself at the same quality level.

David came to look at the project and give an estimate. He came back to deliver the estimate a few days later. We talked about the items and the materials. I was able to reduce the price by purchasing some of the materials. I told him the work had to be done on a weekend and he still gave me the same price. He worked 10 hours on saturday and 8 hours on sunday to complete the work. He was back on Monday to ask if I had like the job and deliver the invoice. We walked the job and I paid.
Description of Work: I asked David (handyman - sales rep and tech) to renovate the stairs going from the first to the second floor in the clinic I work for. The price was very reasonable. He was the same person who did the work. He is a very careful craftsman. He also worked on our time, completing the work during the weekend at regular time price.

Response from Handyman Connection- Atlanta
Dear Member, My name is Rob Scott, owner of Handyman Connection. I see that we did the work for you nearly two years ago but you are just now posting a less-than positive report on my company. We stand behind all of our craftsmanship with a two (2) year guarantee. Had you contacted us, we would have been more than happy to come out to you (at no cost) to find out what the problem was with your outlet or to see if in fact it was a defect in craftsmanship. Since another company came out and worked on that outlet, I no longer have the ability to evaluate that for you. We take enormous pride in our customer service and follow up. If there is ever a concern with our work, even nearly two years after the work is completed, we will stand behind our guarantee. We get over 62% of our business from repeat and referral customers. Although I cant promise to be the cheapest or lowest priced contractor, we do want to provide quality work and value for the work performed. Please keep in mind that the lowest price isn't always the best value. I would hope that other Angie's List clients who reply upon ratings and reports of potential contractors would take into consideration that Handyman Connection was never given the opportunity to come out to correct any issue with craftsmanship or pricing issue. I do not like to see an unhappy customer, especially if that they feel we did "D" quality work. With that said, we would have stood behind any quality of work issue had we been contacted to do so. Sincerely, Rob Scott

I had an excellent experience with Handyman Connection, and I would absolutely use them again. Prompt, responsible, did what they would say they would do in the time they said it would take. Left extra materials (which I'd purchased) with me for my own future use. They may be a little more expensive than other but I'm glad to pay for high quality work.

Work team showed up close to promised time each day. Damaged area was torn out and new framing put in. Replaced insulation. Wallboard inside and stucco outside (textures inside and outside match perfectly!). Painting blended perfectly! The job was completed in 3 days. Open corner of the house was borded or tarped overnight during construction so we were not open to the outside. Suggestion for improvement would be to haul trash and materials away daily (our HOA was upset by the mess). Also, be more careful about stucco and paint splatters on homeowner's property. One ladder has been left in our yard for a week after completion.
Description of Work: Walls, structural framing, insulation, and stucco had to be replaced for two walls and the chimney due to termite and dry rot damage. Painting interior and exterior was required after repairs. Electrical outlets had to be rewired and two new outdoor lights installed.

Jeff was incompetant to say the least! I cannot understand why a company with great recommendations would have hired this man. Rob the owner tried his best to "make things right" with us, but it was too little too late. Even Rob said he'd call us and come over to correct our invoice last week, but four days went by and WE had to call HIM. We set an appt. to meet with him to close out our bill. We were very disappointed in the entire experience. We believe it was over priced and under quality! Too bad. We had great expectations heading into it.
Description of Work: We are in escrow and needed some repairs/updates completed before our home inspection. Jeff came to the house and gave us an estimate range, but did not tell us that this estimate didn't include materials or clean up of debris (he dumped in the wash near our house). He came on a Friday to begin work. He changed one flood light and left, stating he'd be back tomorrow (Saturday) to get to work. He did not show up nor did he call. He had one excuse after another (mother's ill, out drinking, had another job he's working on "under the table"). Our work list was not difficult: change out lights, fix doors to close correctly, re-route drain pipe, install outlets, install guard rails at steps, repair patio roof were there was water damage..) We were told it would take 4-5 days, it took 2 weeks to complete!!

Ed showed up right on time, and spent time with the glass block and the spacers to be sure that the wall would be the right size. He also called my tile installer to be sure he understood how the block would go in. He touched up the exposed brackets in the guest bath, and later came back and re-textured the walls. He is quick and efficient. He is willing to explain what he's doing and why. He is also able to say that a particular job is beyond his abilities.
Description of Work: Cut wall back for glass block installation, including installing studs to support drywall. Try to remove floor drain in shower (was not in his skill set after a couple of unsuccessful tries, he told me he couldn't). Re-drywall the wall behind the new toilet in the guest bath.

Ed from Handyman had to cancel one of our appointments when the head office made a scheduling error. The next day he showed up with a helper, and got the walls refinished and ready for paint. We made an appointment for a week later after the tile was in to install the cabinets, counter top and sink. The cabinets took 2 days, and are beautiful. THe countertop and sink are in and wonderful. I am having him back to do some other drywall work for me.
Description of Work: Retextured walls, installed cabinets, sink, counter top in guest bath. Trimmed out cabinets. Also installed new vent fan, which was a big change from the one that was in there from 1962.
