We at Hands-On Home Inspection are American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) (249433) and Arizona State certified home inspection experts (AzBTR Firm #14898) who specialize in residential (including multi-family), small commercial, and industrial (up to 25,000 sq. ft.) inspections. We cover Southern Arizona (from Casa Grande to Nogales) and the greater Tucson metro area, including Pima, Pinal, Cochise, and Santa Cruz counties, including the following areas: Marana, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Dove mountain, Vail, Casa Grande, Nogales, and the rest of Southern Arizona. Having lived and worked in this area for over 37 years, we are quite familiar with issues unique to homes in our part of the state. Our owner and Chief Inspector, Marcus Richter, has over 36 years of military service (Viet Nam Era and Iraqi Freedom Vet, Retired LtCol) and is experienced in residential home repair and building maintenance. His expertise includes plumbing and electrical wiring/analysis. Marc has a unique combination of experience in structural repair and maintenance— his wealth of knowledge is unprecedented! Your home is inspected by state certified home inspectors, using standards established by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and the State of Arizona. Hands-On Home Inspection has a genuine interest in your safety and well-being. Our motto is “eye of the buyer”. Every home is inspected as though we are buying it. From top to bottom, we inspect the property for any existing or potential safety hazards that may exist, and report on them in a clear format. We also check for problems with the structural integrity of the property. We are “looking out for our customer's best interest”. We are committed to consumer education, we urge you to be present at the inspection, a valuable educational experience during which you can ask questions on the spot and have a better understanding of our report. We offer maintenance tips, and share knowledge of the home that gives you control, confidence, and peace of mind about your decision and negotiations. Description of Work: Marc could not have provided better service.. He was very kind, professional, and thorouigh and did the partial inspection I requested.. I am very chemically sensitive and couldn't figure out what was bothering me in the house I had a contract on. Marc has an incredible sense of smell and was able to identify specific chemicals and alllergens to help me an make informed decision. He also addressed some needed repairs I was concerned about. I am thankful to all those on Angie's list whose comments led me to choose him for my home inspection.

Marc was efficient, quick, he took less then 15 minutes to look over the roof, and responded with a detailed email report the next day with pictures of my roof for my insurance company claim.
Description of Work: I had Marc out yesterday to assess my roof for it's condition as well as what roofer he would recommend if he would have the job done on his own home. He seems to have extensive knowledge of homes since he does independent inspection of homes for a living for people who are about to buy a home and want someone, other then the inspector that the realtor recommends, to inspect the home for problems. We all don't want to buy a house and then find out, after the fact, that we have purchased the sellers house problems after the deal has been closed. I'm keeping my home but wanted to make sure that the roofs condition warranted a new roof, and just not minor roof repairs. I had already gotten five bids from roofing contractors that were listed on Angies list. All were rated "A" by users who used Angies list as a reference. My dilemma was, since the prices for reroofing were relatively close, who was the company with the best reputation to do the job. Because of Marc's experience, I wanted his input. His recommendation was J.V.E. Roofers, Inc. He knew many of the companies I got bids and recommended J.V.E. Those are the people I hired. I have been put into their schedule and it will be about two weeks before they can begin the job due to other commitments.I am glad I used his services and would do so again if I think it warranted his input. As far of the roofers, I should know about their work about 3 or 4 weeks now. I intend to write a review my roofing experience as soon as the job is complete.

The whole inspection lasted about 2.5-3 hours and was very thorough. Marc doesn't just inspect the home, but really wants to engage the buyer in the process and asks that you shadow him as he does the inspection. He views it as a teaching opportunity for home repairs, maintenance, etc. As a not-so-handyman .... this was a unique opportunity to gain some knowledge and perspective on repairs and how to keep a house functioning at a high level. A house is more than a house, it's a system; not Marc's words, but my own. In all, Marc exhibited a superb knowledge of home inspecting and was professional all the way. He is strongly recommended and a vet I might add.

Follow him around and you'll learn a lot.
Description of Work: Mark Richter arrived on time and spent the first few minutes explaining what he was (and wasn't) going to do. Then he went to work and carefully checked ALL spaces, appliances, and systems. I've had boat inspections done and I thought those were professional and in-depth; this was hands-down more complete. The very next day he stopped by and delivered a 50-page report, with photos, detailing what was essential to fix and what should be watched. A great job, well done.

We arranged everything ourselves and were very pleased with Marc's responsiveness to our phone calls and emails. His schedule did not fit our time frame initially, but we are so glad we waited an extra day for his services, foregoing another company we had been considering. At the home inspection, he was punctual and spent quality time inspecting the home and answering all questions thoroughly and elaboring on all of his findings/concerns. He was very professional, friendly, and yet perfectly thorough at the same time! His email report with photos was sent that evening as promised, and he also responded promptly to an email security access problem we encountered due to our error. We will spread the word regarding Marc's services! We are from Hawaii and are pleased to say he exhibits the aloha spirit while performing EXTREMELY detailed work! He spent more than 2 hours from the time he arrived to the time he left!

Marcus was excellent! I have purchased several homes and never had such a thorough home inspection. Marcus told me about things that needed to be fixed to move in, as well as, things that I should be aware of for the future. He was very knowledgable about every aspect of the house and answered all my questions. He provided me with not only a soft copy of my report, but a binder with a full report and color photos. He was very professional, curteous, and friendly. I will definately recommed him and his company to everyone I know.

I selected Marc Richter with Hands-On Home Inspection from Angies's list and my impression of him over the phone. His service was excellent. I've bought and sold four homes over the years. He was agreeable to a Sunday afternoon inspection. He was punctual, knowledgable, thorough, concise, and clear in his communication. He's not silly-nit-picky but he didn't miss anything that I could discern (admittedly I'm not an expert at judging this....which is why I hired him, after all...). His inspection included the roof and pool, which many charge extra or. He entered all the attic spaces and didn't shy from dark dusty corners; he's fit, which helps! His report was delivered by email pdf and he drove and delivered the hard-copy binder (>50 page with photos embedded in the report) to my then residence the next day. His report was clear and articulate and he provided me some solid recommendations for contractors who provided competent free estimates for repair work. Perhaps it's because we are both from Wisconsin, but he was very agreeable and the several hours in his company was very pleasant. I didn't shadow him the entire time, but when he found something meriting my attention he came back in to find and show me all the important features of the house (good and not-so-good). Strongly recommend him for home inspection!

He had to go a long way out of town and was on time and at no extra charge,and that was amazing in its self. He took his time to do a very in depth inspection , all the while answereing all questions ( and there were a lot ) as he went along.He was more concerned about helping us then trying to get done and leave. this company will be highly recomended by me!
