This is the second time we have used Hamstra to install new a/c. We have 2 units. They are very professional and pleasant to work with. We are due 2 rebates and they completed the paperwork and filed for the rebates for us. We did not contact any other company this time as we were so pleased with the work & pricing on the previous unit. (5/2009)

Called Hamstra because the AC was out...the thermostat wouldn't kick the unit on at all. Ron Henson was the tech, he came out promptly , went into the attic, when he came down he said we needed a new control board. I have used Hamstra for several years, have paid for twice yearly maintenance, had a $300.00 surge protector installed to prevent electrical issues, had an emergency shut off valve installed. Generally happy with service. Ron Henson said we needed a new control board. I checked my past receipts to find that two years ago I replaced that same board for over $500.00. I asked Mr. Henson if it seemed right that the same board had to be replaced in just two years. He said it failed because of the heat in the attic. To me that is ridiculous, the original board was in the same attic for 12 years. I asked if the board had a guarantee. He said he would check. He charged me an $89.00 service charge, and he left telling me that I would hear from Hamstra probably by tomorrow. It was 90 degrees in my house. He did not call the office to see if the part was in stock, he did nothing to get the AC working in the meantime. I say this because when this happened two years ago, the tech hard wired the unit so I had AC while the part was ordered. My husband arrived home several hours later. I had heard nothing from Hamstra. He called and was told by the receptionist that they were waiting to hear from the manufacturerer. He asked to speak to someone from service. He was tranferred around and talked with Thomas. He said the part was in stock, but it was only guaranteed for 1 year. The cost to replace he was told was over $600..price had gone up since two years ago. After a couple of phone calls , he reduced the price to just under $500. My husband who has been an electronic technician told Thomas that we needed to know what was causing this board to fail and it had happened two years ago and now again. Thomas agreed. My husband also reminded Thomas that we bought the $300 surge protector and if the board failed due to a power bump that the board should be covered by the surge warranty. Ron Henson was sent back to our house with the new board. He laughed when he came in and said how lucky we were that the part was in stock because he had seen it take a week to get it. Did he think we were going to live in our house for a week with no AC??? Not very professional and just plain weird. I asked him why he didn't call to see if the board was in stock when he was here, and he said he called from the truck after he left. Why didn't he tell me and make arrangements to install it then? He replaced the board. The AC came on, and I asked to see the old board and why it failed. There were no burn marks, also no dust or dirt., and he lifted up a relay and said it just came off. There was no solder holding the piece on...don't know how it ever worked? I told him I wanted the board. He said he needed to show it to his boss. I said that I wanted to board, again he said he needed to show it to his boss.. but I could have the board after he did so. Called Thomas next day and he hadn't seen it. He said he would called Mr. Henson to see it and call us back. Thomas promised to call us back after he looked at the board. No call. I feel ripped off, don't believe that the board he showed us was actually the one in the attic. I can't prove that, of course, but something is fishy! I would have stood and watched him as he worked, but because the electronics are in the attic, I couldn't. BEWARE!! I don't know what happened at Hamstra, but this is not award winning service...............

There was a big difference with Hamstra installers. They came to do the work for me only that day. Not like I had experienced from before anxious to get on to the next customer. The two installers spent the whole day and I asked them when they left why they worked at a steady pace but weren't in a hurry and the response was, "WE CAME TO TAKE CARE OF YOU ONLY"!! What a huge differenc to have a HVAC company make my serious problems their top priority!! Thank you again!! Marcia Bollin

Fantastic. From beginning to end. Everyone was very prompt. John was extremely knowledgeable about determining our needs and answering questions. We liked that John came back two weeks after the install to make sure we understood everything and that we were pleased with the functioning of the unit. Robert took measurements and assessed things like whether a crane would be needed, and Robert, Dan, and Travis (I believe) were here to do the installation. Every single person was polite/pleasant, professional in appearance and demeanor, and knowledgeable. A crane was used in a very tight area filled with several kinds of trees and the roof - I don't think we lost a twig the crane operator was so talented. Hamstra seems to use the best people, including their technicians, who are also N.A.T.E. certified. The owner, Jeff Hamstra, also contacted me to answer all my questions about the warranty. We were referred to Hamstra by a general contractor we trust, and it was a good recommendation. I would say Hamstra is thorough, honest, professional, and skilled. They were slightly higher in their estimate, but we feel that we got a good value for our money.

They were the ones that actually put in my heating and air in 2008. They call me to tell me when they are going to be here to the service checks on it. When I've had a problem they have been out here half hour before the time that they tell me that they are going to be here. If they tell me they are going to be here between nine and eleven they are here at nine thirty and I've never had to wait more than half hour if they gave me a time period. All of the people that I've dealt with have been very good. They also made a special trip out here bringing me filters and they don't charge me for coming out here.

An estimator came out prior to starting the work and gave us an estimate that was correct to the dollar. The price was rather high, but we thought it was worth it to get the job done right. The work took two days with the first day inside and the second day outside. The installers arrived on time both days and were always polite, even wearing plastic "booties" when working inside. They kept us informed about their progress which involved crawling around a hot, cramped attic full of loose fiberglass insulation. We are very satisfied and immediately noticed an increase in air flow inside the house.

The salesman, Wes Adams, was one of four companies we talked to about replacing our 16 year old system and removing our old master cool evaporative cooler on the roof. We were interested in the Lennox system and decided to go with the 21 seer a/c unit. After cleaning our ductwork with a different company we did the aero seal to reduce leaks in our duct work and obtain the TEP rebate. Wes said they would take care of all of the paperwork for the TEP and Lennox rebates and they did. Everything that Wes told us about his company, Lennox and the installation was accurate. The installation team did a great job and I felt very comfortable having them in our home for the two day job. Wes was honest, professional and a pleasure to work with for the entire process. I cannot say enough about the quality and service of this company and their staff. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

We were very happy with Hamstra heating & cooling. I had seen their ads on a bus around town...and we needed someone to come check out our old AC unit and make sure it was good for the upcoming summer. The guy from Hamstra was very nice, showed up on time, and explained everything he was doing. We bought a service contract from them to have them come out every year!

They came at 7:00 with 3 PROFESSIONAL installers assessed the project & immediately started with precision (it's been a long time since I have seen such a coordinated effort, with such positive results) they removed the old unit and installed the new unit by noon, I was amazed. They had removed the duct work in order to work in the small area, after the unit was installed they replaced the duct work, and upgraded the connection to the blower which made it more effective. While 2 men were working on the heating unit the 3 man was outside installing the air conditioning unit. By the end of the 2nd day both units were successfully installed, tested for any problems and did not leave until they were completely satisfied. I can only say (if this had to be done, and it did) it was certainly a pleasure to have them in my home. They cleaned the work area both days before leaving (they had used tarps on floor and washer & dryer.) What a company!! Ron was very thourough in testing the air conditioner on the house we purchased in November 2013. He explained what his testing found- that the unit appeared to have been maintained well by prior owner and that all was working well. He answered all of our questions. He told us about the future service plans Hamstra offerrs, so we asked him to have the office call us in October to set us up for on-going service. We were very pleased with him.

Very straightforward. Reliable and knowledgable.

They seem to be much more expensive than other companies but the work also seems to be high quality.

Expensive, yes but they are the best in Tucson and they have taken care of us for years. They also installed all of our equipment when we built this house 17 years ago.

From first contact to completion, this was an excellent experience. John Roelle, Hamstra's rep, was professional, informative, and most helpful in the planning stage and again in his follow-up one week later. Robert, who ran the tests and measurements to make sure we were getting the right equipment for our needs was efficient and thorough in his recommendations. The installation team of Dan, Sam, Ray, and Colton were on time both days, attentive to our needs, professional, friendly, and willing to do the "extra" to give us the best service and product. Each day their clean-up was well done. Because of the time of year for this project, we were eligible for some incentives. Also, because of the quality of improvements on our home's energy efficiency performed by Hamstra, we received $650 in rebates from TEP. Hamstra also offers a 5% discount for cash. We saved a fair amount of money AND received excellent service. Well done, Hamstra!

They arrived on time, all four employees were very pleasant, and very professional.

Service was good and they responded very quickly even tho I had never used them before. I also bought a service contract with them. They are good, but not inexpensive.

It was raining all the time and it didn't seem like the furnace was that warm. He came and checked it out and fixed it. I haven't had any problems since. He was very business like. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him.

The v cut for the microwave was not 'low profile'. I had to call and have them change it. It was initially discussed but they said due to engineering this was how it had to be. My hot water heater leaked from a (bottom) 'shark bite' attachment (water pipe wasn't sweated - it caused water damage to my garage wall, closet & closet wall). They came and repaired it - no problems. No problems with the HVAC.

Had to call on a weekend, which costs more for the service call. The tech was nice and professional. He couldn't find any problems with the furnace itself, and stated we needed to replace the thermostat. The new thermostat he put on cost $190. After the tech left, I search for this same model on Amazon.com, Home Depot and other retailers. The same model was about $55 at other places. It's easy to install. I was a bit annoyed I spent so much on this thermostat and could have replaced it myself for a lot less. Otherwise, the service was good and professional.

I called Hamstra to shut down my evaporative cooler for the winter and service by furnace. They arrived right on time, were very profressional, very friendly, and did exactly what I had wanted them to do. I'll definitely call them again next time.

Everything done as promised. It's been several years so can't remember details but remember everything went well and don't believe we ever had to call them back out.

we now use them for all our heating and cooling needs. Very responsible.

Company was prompt from providing the initial estimate to conducting the work. Service men were knowledgeable, courteous, prompt, professional. Final inspection was smooth.
