John Roelle came to my home and we quickly and easily came to an agreement on my replacement needs. Every item needed for the job was outlined and put in writing, when completed ALL work and parts were delivered. My engineer/installers were Robert Orr and Travis. The job and their work ethic seemed to be identical to, as if, they were installing on their own home. Even the crane operator and the recycler we pleasant to be around. When the job was finished there was not even a spec of debris lying around. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended without any reservations.

My old furnace was put in by them and I had it for quite a long time. Everyday they told me ahead what they were going to do and they did it in the time they said. This is the second time I've used them so they haven't done anything to make me want to find somebody else.

They did great. They have a good service contract offer. We will use them again.

This is a difficult review to write because we had an excellent experience with the sales and installation of our A/C and heating unit, but after we had made our second and final payment, the follow-up service became frustrating. Dustin arrived on July 13, the day after we initially called and was courteous, friendly, and thorough. He asked many questions about what we needed, carefully measured the area to be covered by the new unit, and patiently went over all the possible options. Since our other unit at our residence was from Hamstra (installed in 2010), he threw in a year’s free maintenance for both our old and new units. After we decided to go with Hamstra, Dustin promptly returned with the contract (July 15), and–since it was hot and our old unit wasn’t working well–he made sure we had installation within two weeks (during a busy time of the year). Rick, who came to figure out the engineering aspects of the job (on July 21), and John, who performed the entire installation (July 26), were both courteous and hard workers. The following week (August 3) Dustin returned for the final inspection and payment. He promised to send us the HVAC document for the unit, which had not been delivered at installation, and to return to touch up a minor scrape on the roof. This is when it became more frustrating for us. Hearing nothing for one month, we called September 6. He sent us the HVAC document six days later, but the pdf file was corrupted. September 22 a readable file was received. Shortly after this, he gave us a time he could come out and make the final repair on the roof, but we were busy at that time. We never heard from him again. September 26 Nick did the semi-annual maintenance on our old Hamstra unit and tried to charge $148.00 for the service. He had no knowledge of Dustin giving us a free service. Nick called Hamstra, who had no record of this free service. We showed Nick our contract that specified the free service, at which time Hamstra agreed. Overall, we think Hamstra does a quality job at installation and maintenance, but the follow up was disappointing.

Fantastic. While they weren't the cheapest, they immediately gave me the impression that they were extremely professional and competent. They performed amazing work, met all deadlines and were professional in every aspect. I did have to use their repair service when a problem came up unexpectedly - there was no cost and they showed up same day (Saturday) and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem.

They did an excellent job; so much so, that we now have a routine maintenance contract with them. With the contract we get priority service, which we have had occasion to use recently. For the routine servicing Hamstra is very good about sending out reminders, flexible with scheduling, and arriving within the scheduled time slot.

Buyer Be Ware. In my opinion, I would not recommend this company. My A/C stopped working, I was told it was a $99 charge to come out and diagnose the issue, parts and labor extra. The Repair person performed diagnostic service, told me there was a short in the wiring which damaged the transformer and fuse. He did not give me an estimate and proceeded to repair the short, replace the transformer and fuse. He did not secure the wiring nor put back any panels. He was here less then an hour doing the work. He went to his truck to calculate the bill. returned and presented me a bill for $740. I was floored, my son also was here to see this, he is a attorney here in Tucson and was also upset. The service man then seeing our response to this extremely high bill, the service man reduced the bill to $473. I paid the bill in duress, and my son said he would take care of it legally. We then priced the part. They were charging $147 for a transformer available on Amazon for $23. What's even worse, he charged me $23 for a standard automotive fuse available for 70 cents are the O'reilly's auto parts store. My son contacted several other A/C people, they said the repair should not have cost more then about $225. He then contacted the company and they reduced the charges by $215, but still left a charge that was in excess. Again, in my opinion, buyer be ware of the possible over charging by this company.

The installers were great and very knowledgeable.

Jordan Mills performed the services today at our home. He is an outstanding serviceman. He is professional, listens carefully, and gets the job completed with knowledge. He displayed a high level of personal integrity and makes a positive first impression. I liked his communicative skills and his initiative. It would be difficult to ask for better performance.

Everything went very well. These products aren't cheap, but their price beat the competition and they are recognized by even their competitors as doing high quality work. What I learned after receiving quotes and speaking to several different companies is that the install is as important, or more important, than the brand of A/C unit. The install occurred when they said it would and was completed without a problem. Everything looks good. There have been a couple minor issues that arose after installation, but they came out immediately to address them.

Showed up on time for estimates for 2 different furnaces at 2 different apartments on 2 separate instances within days of each other. Scheduled work on emergency basis on 2 separate occasions WITHOUT charging extra. For the one repair, I had explained there was a newborn (less than a week), and they were very sensitive to that in terms of speed of intervention, and they loaned a large electric heater for the new mommy and baby. The other was not acute like this, but, involve young children, and they still loaned a heater. This is small town, we help our neighbors kind of service. For that second install they gave me a 5% discount- quantity discount as it were. Showed up on time each time for remove and install. The work was completed quickly, neatly, and well, and they were very clean: no mess, no debris and that sort of thing. There is an inclusive warranty on the work not just the unit. The personnel were all, the 4 techs, the scheduler, the receptionist, the estimator completely professional, knowledgeable, and above all people who were friendly and pleasant, and had a heart. I would say that this really is typical old time Tucson. I began doing business with the founder, Allan, in 1982 or 3. The experience was the same then. It has not changed, I am still their customer. You will possibly find cheaper, or more expensive for that matter, consider, though, that in the end, prices for this kind of work are fairly standard. So use these guys as they are the better deal in the end. I know this all sound to good to be true, but it is true. The only problem was they declined to do the dishes and wash windows. Where is the world going!!! LOL. I intend to post this same evaluation on Yelp as well.

Had another company come out and was informed 5 ton compressor seized up with $4000 repair or $11500 replacement. Hamstra came and found a module that failed with burnt wiring and also replaced another component that was failing for $600. Ethics and integrity will keep me as a customer for years to come!

The coil itself was under warranty. The price was for labor and installation. They might be a little bit expensive, but it is worth it to us.

We had them a couple of time subsequently. For instance, they discovered that one of air conditioners was installed incorrectly. They are very good. We signed up with an annual maintenance with them because they are very good.

Superbly! The sales representative was very knowledgeable and organized; he saw us three times, once to get a general idea of what we wanted, again with a proposal based on key metrics related to our house; and again to finalize the contract. Then, an engineer came out to check the system and prepare the installers for their work. Best of all, accompanying this engineer was a person who did a "before" scan for our local power company (an "after" scan was also done so that we could receive rebates from the power company for better efficiency -- and Hamstra handled all the paperwork for those rebates. The two installers were quiet, efficient, convivial and clearly expert at their work; Hamstra sent out a supervisor/engineer each of the two days of installation to oversee it. Very impressive. Finally, the sales representative visited to check on our satisfaction and to do our warranties with us -- what a nice service!

I called Hamstra in the morning after I spent 2 days trying to repair my a/c unit, which would not blow cool air and was making a horrible screeching sound. The people on the the phone were fantastic and put me at ease. I was incredibly worried about having to buy a brand new unit and wondering if I could trust an HVAC person to give me honest feedback on my a/c unit. The lady from Hamstra walked me through the process and set up my appointment all the while keeping me calm. Jose arrived about an hour later and after hearing about all the work I put into trying to fix my a/c he got right down to work. He diagnosed the problem as a non-functioning condenser fan. The fan wasn't working because I had incorrectly wired it in my DIY attempt to get my a/c unit going. He quickly fixed the problem and checked the rest of my a/c unit. There was cold air blowing again right away! I went from totally stressed about having to shell out a small fortune for a new unit to total elation as the repair only cost a couple hundred dollars. I'm recommending Hamstra and Jose to everyone I know from now on. They renewed my faith that there are honest people out there that will not take advantage of a stressed out customer eager for cool air!

Over two years ago, hubby was on roof with our a/c and could not figure out why our air conditioner would not work. Hamstra was across the street and came over and tested the a/c and said it was a fuse. The man was very polite and did not charge us a dime. This year our a/c was not working well. I could not remember the name of the company that helped us two years ago. Hubby called another company (you see the trucks all over town). That man kept cancelling and when he finally showed stated our A/C was old and he would sell us a new one for 7000, when hubby said no way, he offered us a rebuilt unit for 3000. That is when I remembered Hamstra's name. We called, the man came out, told hubby that yes the unit is an old "beast" but gave tips on how to fix it ourselves. Hubby had already cleaned a/c so Hamstra man tested everything. He also gave hubby tips on how to get a little more mileage out of the beast so we could save up for a new A/C unit. Both hubby and I felt he was not trying to take advantage of us because of our age. He was so polite, and kind. Suggest Hamstra and would use again in a heartbeat.

We needed to replace an existing Rheem AC/Heating Unit that had died and sent out five request for proposals to local companies that were Participating Contractors for TEP Efficient Home Program in February 2016. Of the five companies contacted, four came back and submitted proposals. Of the four, Hamstra Heating and Cooling, not only came back as low bidder but also the quoted the best system for our home. Initially we dealt closely with Ryan Reid as he was the sales person who came out and reviewed our air conditioning and heating needs. He was professional, polite, thorough, always on time, and patient. Hamstra proposed several systems and all the literature and information needed to make the best decision was furnished. Ryan was patient and knowledgeable and answered all our questions so we were able to make the best decision for our AC and Heating needs. Once the contract was signed and a few days later the Engineer Rick came out and reviewed the house and discuss where the system will go and all the steps necessary for installation. We then scheduled the installation for a few weeks later and the installers Ray Chavez and Mike Llanez came out and installed the system. They did a wonderful job and we couldn?t be happier with their work and professionalism. A special thank you to Janna their scheduler who worked closely with us in getting the installation times adjusted due to delay in an upgrade to our electrical service to 200 amp. It is always challenging juggling contractors and Janna was more than willing to modify installation to meet those delays. All members of the Hamstra Heating & Cooling staff was respectful, professional in appearance and demeanor, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. They provided information regarding their maintenance program. We are 100% satisfied with the service provided. We love our new Lennox XC16 (17 Seer AC) with Gas Furnace system and highly recommend Hamstra Heating & Cooling to family, friends and associates.

After a thorough search to find the company that had both the best service reviews and the best price, we chose Hamstra. We were very pleased with our choice! There was no hard sell. Ryan simply and competently presented our options, we selected the HVAC unit that best suited our needs and our house. It was installed promptly and competently by Mike and his crew. They were very polite, efficient and respectful. Ryan stayed with us during the whole process to make sure all went well. He then finished up with the paperwork and explained the warranty features clearly.Thank you, Hamstra. We will use you again!

They do it in about an hour. I would use them in the future. They come twice a year.

We contacted a couple of companies to get quotes for a new AC unit, as our house came with a refurbished unit and was on it's way out. John was much more thorough in his assessment of needs and recommended 4 different options in different price ranges for us. He was professional and polite and very knowledgeable. We decided to go with Hamstra because in the end we felt most comfortable with his assessment and guarantee that the work would be done professionally by the company's own employees, not contracted out as others do. We decided to go with a Lennox 14ACX. My husband gave John a call and was able to set up the initial appointment with the engineers and get the unit installed within a week. We are excited to experience the energy efficiency of the new unit as well as the quiet that comes with it. The salesman followed up a couple weeks after to see how the unit was doing (which was great) and then a couple weeks later we had another visit to check out the unit as a quality control measure to ensure everything was still doing well. From start to finish it was a great experience and we'd recommend them again in a heartbeat!

Outstanding experience all around. As it happened, Hamstra was the first of three bidders to show up at my house. In less than an hour, I had a written bid for 3 different units at three different prices. The other 2 bidders (also rated well on Angies List) took much longer and couldn't measure up to the bar that Hamstra set. Everything happened on time, the way they said it would happen and with no surprises. Everyone I came in contact with was polite, professional and very interested in any concerns that I may have had. Highly recommended.
