I had problems with another service company and had to replace my unit. Hamstra came out and gave me an estimate and they were not the cheapest quote I got, but their explaination of the process was just better. They won the bid and we scheduled it and they were on time, very professional, and did a great job. Very professional, ontime and very neat when all done. The unit works great and I would recommend Hamstra to anyone for HVAC service or installation

Terrible. While the unit was ancient, I was purchasing the house from out of state. They stated they could get the unit working for $180. Granted, it was an old unit. After spending the $189, it worked briefly, but did not cool. When I called to complain, they sent another tech out who stated the unit was beyond repair. My question is...why would any ethical A/C business state they could get something working when they couldn't? You guessed it! Milking the consumer out of more money. Well...I called again and spoke with a rather unpleasant gent, I believe his name was Dennis. His sarcastic response to my woes was 'Well, we did get it working' Um...it was over 100 degrees outside, even hotter inside with scorpions running amok! Working means cooling in July, in my eyes. So...being the fair guy that I am, I had them give me an estimate on a new unit. This price was a bit higher than the others, but I wanted to save the drama and requested that they match the competing bid, which was a difference of $200. They wouldn't do it. I called and had yet another lovely chat with Dennis. Condescending and unhelpful were words for that day. So, I had a wonderful new AC unit installed by a competitor with a better price. I'm cool as a cucumber, the scorpions have fled to where scorpions go to. Yay! Still left with a very poor opinion of Hamstra after my CC dispute was turned down by them. It's too bad, as they lost out on potential revenue from the new AC and service. Bonus! I get to complain with everyone I come in contact with to not use Hamstra. Sadly, its a hollow victory.

This company is timely, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and careful. I have used them over the last 3-4 years with the same excellent quality of work each time. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants the best. You don't use them to save money but you do for excellent work with no problems.

Everything went well. July in Tucson: our central air on the east side of the house went out. We called Hamstra, a repairman came the next day and installed a new capacitor. Unfortunately, the blow up of the old capacitor had also damaged the whole unit. So we needed a whole new system. Our old system was about 15 years old, and evidently these are no longer serviceable. Therefore we needed a whole new system--furnace and compressor units. Hamstra was very professional. They presented the options. We opted for the 4.5 ton unit. Hamstra was very nice to lend us two room units, and we were able to get by with the old unit heroically working--albeit tentatively. We were surprised that it took a couple of weeks for the new unit to arrive. But everything went according to schedule. The installation went fairly smoothly, but took a couple of days (as per schedule). We are thrilled with the new unit. It is much more powerful and comfortable than its predecessor. We will definitely use Hamstra when the unit on the west side fails.

When our AC broke call Hamstra. They installed the original ones and have provided service in the past. The first person to come out determined what was wrong so the proper repairmen could come to do the work. Repairman showed up on time and worked all Friday morning in the heat of a Tucson summer to do the repair. Late that afternoon, I called them back since the house was not cooling and he came back. Turns out there was another problem with the AC in addition to the two already repaired. Unfortunately, he did not have the needed part. On Monday when I called, turns out that the part was not any where in Arizona. 8 days later, the part did come and and the replacement made. Two days later, it failed again for yet another reason. Thank goodness Hamstra came out and replace this part for free. Everyone I dealt with was courteous and professional. Everyone appeared to be trying to meet my needs. Just seems that something broke down in the process. I would use again, but this was not the delightful experience other occasions have been.

We contacted Hamstra to bid a replacement heatpump/airhandler system. Sales rep showed up as scheduled and explained (in detail) the work to be done and the costs. He bid 3 different levels of systems, ranging from $17,000 to almost $20,000. Bids included additional services such as duct cleaning and sealing, as well as a two year maintenance contract. We decided to look elsewhere before going with Hamstra. The costs were much more than we ever dreamed of for a new system. Hamstra has a great pitch in their sales presentation and they have trained staff and are the "complete company" when it comes to HVAC. That said, we were able to find another local company that provided equivalent product and excellent service for nearly 1/3rd the cost. I gave a C overall because we felt the charges for services were extremely high.

I was very pleased with Hamstra's service and would highly recommend them. Technician arrived same day to trouble-shoot the issue, the sales representative arrived first thing the next morning, and the replacement unit was replaced a few days later. They also provided a portable unit to provide relief while waiting for the replacement unit to be installed. I did receive other quotes and while Hamstra was not the cheapest their pricing was competitive and I felt more comfortable with Hamstra.

It was not a good experience overall. Unfortunately they sold me on customer service when I was gathering quotes. Hamstra was not the cheapest quote I had but I strongly valued the customer service aspect of their sales pitch. I have had two major problems in the first year of service. The first problem was a roof leak do to the install. Hamstra refused to fix the problem untill I showed them in the contract where this was a warrenty item. Six months later my unit broke and it took 2 weeks to get it fixed.

It went better than I expected. Jeff Hamsrta, the owner of the company, personally came out to design this system revision. Hamstra Heating and Cooling did all of the HVAC work on my Jeff Wilmeng constructed home when in was originally built from 2006 to 2008 and I've been using them for maintenance on the 6 units in the system ever since. The installation crew was great. They were neat, courteous, on time, and very professional. Billy, who is the leader f the installation team, found a potential improvement to Jeff Hamstra's design and this was incorporated in the new system. It greatly improved the system and saved me 5% on the final bill. The sytem has been up and running for several weeks and I'm a happy camper!

Big John was prompt, friendly and professional. Unfortunately, Hamstra's quote for this job was almost 50% more than the next competitive bid for the exact same system. Now I can understand a 5, 10, or even 15% difference in the bids. Spoke to John after I gave the job to a competitor. He said he would speak to the manager about their pricing. I sure hope they re-evaluate the profit margin they need.

The estimator came in, assessed the problem, explained everything, estimated cost of refit. He was methodical, painsttaking, and made sure I understood everything he was doing, what he found, what he recommended, and why. The crew came in and diagnosed and serviced everything. Then they sent in a guy to measure and doublecheck the re-fit. A crew of two came in to do the job. They were so quiet I didn't know they were there. I was impressed by the fact they seemed to enjoy what they were doing and how they functioned so well as a team. They went out of their way to answer my dumb questions. Everything was spotless when they left. They used the garage for their work and materials, and they not only cleaned up their part, but went on and swept my entire garage as well! The cost of the work was exactly as they had estimated. Initially, I thought it cost was too high, but when the job was over, I didn't mind because the work was so meticulous and the system now is so much more efficient. My utility bill is much lower.

Very professional company. Our old system was over 20 yrs old and was costing a fortune to cool the house in the summer. Hamstra did a lot of measurements and tests of the house and system and recommended a Lennox system with an electrostatic filter. They told us in advance what would be happening and when it would be done, and the work went exactly as we were informed it would. All of the service technicians were very nice and appeared to be very knowledgeable. We've been running the new system for about 2 weeks, and the difference is like night and day. There is almost no noise from the furnace fans or the outside AC unit. The house's cooling is much more even, room to room. I haven't got an electric bill yet, but I expect to be very happy with that too. I was a little leery of the duct cleaning and sealing services. I didn't think it would do much of anything, but my wife insisted we do it. After the fact, I can say that I am very glad we had those services done. The dust levels in the house have gone done noticeably. We used to have to dust a couple times a week. We haven't had to dust yet since the new system went in. Also, with the old system, I always had very slight allergic symptoms when the AC was running, nothing great but it was noticeable. From the first day with the new system. those symptoms disappeared. I'd now recommend those services to others in the future. Overall, I am very pleased with Hamstra and would use them again in the future.

Their tech immediately figured out that the AC system was wired totally incorrectly, and that the AC was running improperly. The improper wiring has resulted in several failures including damaged circuit boards and fan motors. I have had to pay Hamstra several hundred dollars in labor (the parts were under warranty) to fix the problems. They are one of the most professional companies of any kind that I have ever dealt with! This summer, the AC at the east end of my house needed a very expensive repair. As it was 22 years old, I decided to replace it with a new one. Of course, I chose Hamstra for the project. Hamstra spent more time analyzing my requirements and engineering the job than Charles Smith did for their entire installation! I chose a 16 SEER Lennox system that is the same size as the Amana at the other end of my house. The total cost was $10,400. I did not bother to shop around, because I knew that I didn't want anyone but Hamstra to install it. After the installation was complete, and of course everything has gone perfectly to date, I happened to see a Lennox display at Costco. Just out of curiosity, I stopped to ask what the 5 ton, 16 SEER Lennox system would cost through Costco. The quote was $700 more than the price I paid Hamstra. Needless to say, I could not be happier with Hamstra, and I have recommended them to anyone who needs AC work.

They redid the entire roof HVAC and re-piped it so all our duct work is inside our ceiling instead of on the roof. We got all new duct work, heat pump and everything sealed. They are extremely knowledgeable and know their engineering. They really exceeded my expectations. They showed up promptly and on time. This is the second time I used them and I would highly recommend them to others.

So far everything seems fine. They were very professional and thorough. They still have to come out and do a final check.

Hamstra was our 2nd bid on this job. We were extremely impressed with their presentation, assessment of our needs, and the actual installation. They also provided a duct sealing (not cleaning) service, which resulted in our discovering a gaping hole behind the wall that was allowing precious a/c and heat to escape unused.

Called 1/2 hour before getting there. Got there right on the agreed time and went to work with no nonsense. young man's name was Josh. Very intelligent and knew the equipment and its potential faults. They have to return to deal with the broken air register and re install a new one.

Hamstra was not the cheapest options when we installed new units. They were professional, and provided us with answers to all our questions regarding different options and SEER ratings on units. Service since had been very professional - on time, tech puts protective covers over shoes, clean vans, tidy up afterwards, etc. Staff in service office very easy to work with when setting up an appointment. Service for both units (a Silver Level Service) took about 1.5 hrs. They get a rating of C for price as I regard this as expensive on an hourly rate basis ($262 for the preventative maintenance call). There should be more of a price break when they service 2 units at the same property. They offer different levels of service, so there are some cheaper options. Only problem we had so far with their service was on the original installation of the AC unit on the ground. They forgot to install the pack-rat preventer plate Hamstra designed and we got pack-rats that ate the wires. They fixed it for free.

I returned from vacation on a Sunday to find the house at >90deg! The A/C fan was working but there wasn't any cool air. I left a message with the Hamstra office to contact me for an appointment. They called back before 7:15am on Monday and the technician, Paul, was at my door before 8am. Paul was able to find a shorted wire in the exterior heat pump unit within a few minutes. He did some further diagnostics on the unit, checked the interior system and otherwise ensured there were no other issues. He explained options for repairing the system and the associated cost. His estimate was nearly exact to the final cost. Further, I had a electric thermostat I had bought a few weeks ago but had not yet got around to installing. He installed it without an additional charge and made sure it was programmed correctly for my system. Paul was knowledgeable, courteous and fast.

My father's house in Green Valley needed to have the condensate line of the heat pump checked. I called Hamstra because they are highly rated and were willing to make a Saturday appointment. Victor arrived at about 8:15. He told me an elbow needed to be cemented and that was causing the leak. He also mentioned it need to be recharged and a contact was bad and could fail at any time. He completed the work in about an hour our so. He told me that the elbow cracked when he tried to fit it back in. He charged me only the minimum for the repair (the heat pump is old so I was not surprised, but I really appreciate his honesty). He was very polite and professional.

Hamstra Heating & Cooling, Inc. everything I liked about them. And the reason I chose them was because of their high rating on Angie's list. They gave me an estimate on how much it was going to be to do the entire job and it was more than I expected I have to tell you, but it was a good price for what they did. But they did a good job. They were always there when they said they would be there, he was very professional in every respect. And I have to tell you something, they gave me a written quote on how much it would cost to do the job, they did the job and as they finished the job the installed that my house in Tucsan which was built in 1961 it had no insulation in the roof. And the person did the estimate did not know that. So it was going to require a larger air conditioner than they just installed and they gave me a larger air conditioner, a better air conditioner and they didn't charge me any extra. I was blown away. I know that air conditioner had to be a couple of thousand dollars more than the one that they quoted me. But they stuck with their quote and they gave me a bigger air conditioner. And it didn't cost me any extra.

Wes was polite and didn’t “speak down” to my wife. The bid was comprehensive and went off without a hitch. Very clean work with the new system!
