I didn't realize that the Geek Squad worked on anything beyond computers and other communication devices. I went to the Best Buy website because that is where I purchased my LG refrigerator. It was beyond the warranty period, so I didn't go to the LG website. I found that the Geek Squad repairs all kinds of things. They were prompt and professional. I feel that they gave very good value and would use them again.
Description of Work: Geek Squad came out the day after I called to analyze the problem with my refrigerator, showed me the problem, gave me an estimate of the costs, ordered the part, came back a week later (as soon as the part arrived), fixed it within half an hour.

About an hour. I have come to understand, that all service people now are pressured by AHT and every second is counted against them. These two young men did not seem to be rushed, and showed great patience with me. (I am a baby-boomer generation techno-phobe.)
Description of Work: I was the victim of a "website-look-alike" computer scam. A malicious app was installed on my computer that gave my scammers remote access to my computer. I had to unplug everything until it could be removed. Geek Squad removed the mal-ware, removed unnecessary apps that had accumulated over time, installed a security program that I had purchased. and then stood by while I made sure the WIFI was working with Netflix...(it was, they knew it would be, but I was happy they stayed while I checked two TV's.)

I had a problem with quicken on my computer and called the Geek Squad to help me. They did real well and went through all the steps with me. He was very knowledgeable and spent 45 minutes with me. I was very pleased with the results and the effort they put into it. They determined it was Quickens issue so I had to contact Quickens.

When it arrrived, the cassette player didn't work. Because it was purchased from a third party supplier, Best Buy advised me to contact them directly (A place called Focus Camera in Brooklyn, NY.). But Focus Camera would not respond to phone calls or letters. Finally the BBB of NYC got them to respond. Then Focus Camera claimed that we had never returned the unit. Finally, after exchanges of emails Best Buy refunded the purchase price.
Description of Work: I Purchased a "Boom Box" through their web site.

I took the phone in 2 weeks ago, they told us intially that it would be 4 days to be replaced. This is the 14th day and corporate told us that they have 14,000 iPhones to be replaced and they still haven't replaced it. I'm legally blind and can only use the iPHone, they gave me a loaner phone that I can't use.
Description of Work: We had black tie on our phone and they told us it would be ready for today. They told us today that it would be any where from 2 days to 2 weeks to get it replaced.

Description of Work: I have a laptop with Windows Vista. I tried installing Windows 7 over and over again and failed. I was installing it as an upgrade and not as a complete hard-drive-wiped-clean installation. The reason for this is because I didn't want to reload programs and data. I decided to take the computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy on North 1st Street and have them install Windows 7. I told the person at the counter about the problems I was having and my being unable to install Windows 7. I was told "No Problem! We install Windows 7 hundreds of times." They told me it would not be a problem to install Windows 7 as an upgrade. I waited a few days and went down there to see how it was coming along. I was told they had problems and could not install Windows 7 because there were problems with the registry. They refunded $100 of the $200 I gave them and told me the $100 charged was for their time. I really don't agree with them. If they tell a customer they will do the job then they must do the job. If they can't do the job then give the money back and smile. Don't charge a customer for services not rendered. I have been in business for all of my life and I would not treat a customer that way. Dan Veenstra

What they don't disclose is that they are one of our nations Number One Magazine Agents. We have shopped there for everything from telephones, televisions, large appliances, printers, computer supplies and peripherals, CDs and DVDs and more! What we never knew is that when the clerk asked us if we wanted magazine subscriptions and we said NO.. He gave them to us anyway. When we signed the credit slip for our purchases, that.. Yes, THAT was our acceptance of getting two magazines.. And not at special rates or even normal subscription rates, but at NEWSSTAND PRICES! VERY high charges. And, Best Buy GAVE our credit card information to the magazines and we've been billed over 160 dollars and have been fighting like the dickens to cancel the subscriptions and GET OUR MONEY BACK! So far, no money! DO NOT SHOP BEST BUY!! Do not use a credit or debit card, write a check or use cash. IF you use a card, you are at HUGE risk of getting unwanted and unrequested magazines at a huge cost!

THEY DID IT IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY GAVE ME A TIME FRAME, AND THEY SURPRISED ME, AND HAD IT ACTUALLY DONE ON TIME. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE, AND WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THEM IF I HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS.

I HAD BOUGHT THE COMPUTER FROM THEM AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL IN THE SERVICING I WAS IN NEED OF. THEY HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED IN LITTLE TO NO TIME AT ALL.
