Karyn Garvin worked miracles and turned our puppy into a wonderful dog. She spent two hours with us at our home for the first lesson, showing us how to use Bully sticks and other techniques to manage Jenny's chewing and general behavior. We purchased an eight-lesson package, and gradually we and Jenny learned how to sit, lie down, wait, and heel. For the last lesson, we took Jenny with us (including Karyn) to a local restaurant, and we all enjoyed it. We are also using Karyn and Erin's dog day care service twice a week. Jenny plays "hard" with other puppies there, and comes home tired. She seems to love going there. Karyn was a patient, kind and diligent teacher, and we will probably continue to consult her in the future.
Description of Work: In March 2017, we purchased a two-month-old Australian shepherd puppy from a breeder. She was adorable, but we were unprepared for how difficult things would get. We were unable to control her constant chewing on us, our furniture and our clothes, and she had a boundless amount of energy that we (over-60s) could not cope with.

For my current needs, they replied quickly and referred me to a handyman service that found the right contractor for my needs. My dogs now have an unusual looking but covered metal mesh dog run from the doggie door out onto the lawn within the walled yard. Doubt any more life threatening coyote or bobcat or hawk attacks could happen again. Their dog training services were top notch when I was using them in the past. Doggie door has been well done and sturdy for 9 years now.
Description of Work: I needed a referral for help in building a metal covered dog run for my small dogs, who had been attacked by coyotes jumping over the 6 foot stucco wall around my backyard. Garvins Divine Dog Training has helped me in the past with several dog behavior problems and with installation of the doggie door in my house.

Description of Work: Evaluation of Rescue Dog. They suggested, best guess, that my dog Jasper is a mastiff/ chocolate lab mix, currently 110 lbs. Had a concern about emerging anti-social behaviors at dog parks, had spoken with a number of professionals, bottom line seemed that though Jasper had greatly enjoyed and benefited from romping and playing at dog parks, that he had grown out of it. He has grown in a dog meetup group however, with 250+ pet pals, many of which he has interacted socially with at approximately 50 events. Garvin's helped me with knowing what Jasper was about, was rescued at age 10 weeks and changed dramatically over the years. Check him out at www.yappeehour.com in fact !

First a note on the price: I paid $1000 for a LIFETIME of dog training. So after the basics, which I've been doing for the past few months, I can also come back to Garvin's at any time. This makes the thing a GREAT DEAL. (I paid all at once, but it is possible to set up a payment account.) So the money sounds high, but it's not. I paid much less at PetSmart and got, well, much less in both time and quality. (Note: Doggie Day Care is separate, and you can pay for that by the day or save some money with packages.) On the training: Unlike at the box store, I'm getting services based upon my dog and what he's up to right now. That's actual training. I'm just really impressed. For training my dog, this is access to expertise at a reasonable price. I've gone to weekly lessons over the past 3 months and taken my dog to day care twice a week. Training has been excellent, tranformative for both my dog and myself. I'm so happy with the dynamics in class and the way my trainer follows up with my dog when he's in daycare. There is an adaptability that comes from expertise and an all-embracing approach at Garvin's that was totally absent at PetSmart's generic puppy class. I learn differently than my dog, and the trainer is great with both of our "learning styles." Her expertise and experience really show. As for doggie day care, it really works. I wanted my puppy to learn social skills and burn off energy. Garvin's staff totally train on-site and mix up groups of dogs throughout the day. The results of weekly training and bi-weekly day care have been so positive. In such a short time, my dog became a better dog. He learned more quickly than I! The trainer is excellent with people and pets. I am a more confident trainer at home because my (and my dog's) trainer is really listening and adapts solutions to fit our needs. She even visited my dog in dog day care for some impromptu training when he was having a "bad dog" day. On the Dog Day Care: They get to play! They get to amble between three different rooms as well as outdoor fenced-in spaces. I took a tour and it's more like a super-safe playground than boarding. The staff is attentive to the dogs and I love getting a "report card" for each day. They are both safety-oriented and play-oriented, and the place is cleaner-than-clean. My heart was also warmed to know that a number of staff volunteer with dog rescue organizations. There's just an all-embracing feeling to the place.
Description of Work: - Training an energetic puppy to behave and listen to me - Taking my puppy to doggie day care at Garvin's so he'll get socialization and burn off some energy. - When puppy is older, train him as a therapy dog or agility. Garvin's does these as well.

The mats are battery charged to train house pets to stay in the home. They're hard to find but Garvin's had them and even price matched an on line source.
Description of Work: I purchased pet training mats to keep my cats indoors.
