FURNITURE REPAIR, REFINISHING & RESTORATION ON & OFF SITE- HOME OR OFFICE; WATER, FIRE, & SMOKE DAMAGE; MOVING DAMAGE; PET DAMAGE; ANTIQUE RESTORATION.
My husband took a 3 piece set of furniture in to get repaired and resrained as close to the original as possible, a 3 peice vanity. The wood was in good shape (except the bench top), but the original glue had failed from a move, and it needed to be put back together. It was also quite a bit dusty from being in the garage. Well, that's the only part they sorta kinda did ok at. The top fell off at the location during pickup they just screwed it back on and said its good. Why wasn't it good before pickup? You can see cracks between the wood pieces where they reglued them together. There is wood filler that they didn't even try to blend in! The stain is what I'm most upset about! They tried to claim there were splatters all over one side, but I have pictures from the day it was dropped off, and that was intact false! They were just trying to cover for something they messed up. They stained over moving stickers, so I know they didn't prep for staining at all!!! There are fingerprints in the fresh stain! There are stain drips from too much product being applied at once! The three pieces dont match in color. They are close but not matching as they should have been for the price paid! This vanity set hadnt been redone in anyway exept for what they had done to it, it was completely the original pieces We tried contacting them via email as we had been doing the entire time they had the 3 piece vanity, and we have yet to get a response after several emails!!!! If it's a piece you care about, which I do as my late grandfather gave me this set that he had purchased new in the 60s, then please DO NOT trust these people to restore anything!!!! These people are far from professional! If I could attach the pictures to this review I would!

They picked up the door, repaired it and brought it back. I've been told that it is a tricky repair to do and that it was done well. Being an antique, I didn't want to do it myself. The price was high by my standards, but worth it to me.

A+. Don came to our home, offered a very helpful and open-minded estimate, and we even got a break on the price by transporting it to the shop and back ourselves. We couldn't be more satisfied and pleased with the work and the results!

They did a fabulous job and were very professional. The man who actually worked on the piece was very happy to have worked on such an old hutch and was glowing with pride when we told him he out did himself. They used old methods to restore it to its former beauty. I can highly recommend them.

It all went very well and I was very pleased with the work done. The time it took for the work to be done was more than reasonable from pick to delivery. They are currently doing another piece for me and I won't hesitate to use them for any piece of furniture in the future.
Description of Work: The work done included pickup and delivery. Refinished my antique round oak table and leaf, repaired the front roller legs on my antique tea cart as well as a very old brass kerosene converted table lamp - all that had been heavily damaged in my move to AZ.

Excellent!!!!! The Bentwood Rocker seat exactly matched the rest of the chair. Remember, it was 40 years old and we rocked all our 4 babies in it. My kitchen chair fasteners on the legs kept unscrewing, so they re screwed them all and added loc-tite. They are very stable now. They also removed a spot from a very old leather chair. The tech was so knowledgeable, and the work they did in the shop on the rocker was impeccable. A very fair price. Very professional and a pleasure to have in the house. I will be calling soon for a full cleaning and reconditioning of the leather chair.

Regardless of price, Furniture Medic?s quality workmanship is second to none; simply the best!!! After 30 years in the military and traveling around the world with us, our home furniture needed repair and touch-up. DB and his team wasted no time. Furniture Medic is an outstanding business with outstanding, talented professionals. When I called about a very badly damaged side table (the top had been torn off the legs unevenly), the admin scheduled a home appointment for me within the next 3 days. The repair person appeared on time, examined the table closely, said it could be repaired, and gave me an estimated time and price for repair, both of which were reasonable. He was courteous and professional. A week before the promised time, I was told the job was finished because another job cancelled; my table was delivered in perfect condition. I couldn't even find the repair areas and the finish was matched perfectly. This repair exceeded my best expectations. This group is true professionals and I would definitely recommend their work to anyone. However it should be noted that credit cards are not accepted - only checks or cash.
Description of Work: Repaired a badly damaged table; there was some doubt the table could be repaired at all. The price included pick up and delivery of piece, as well as matching the finish.

We purchased a custom-made Oak mantel from Mantels Direct. They did a great job protecting the sides and bottom, but not the top. Consequently, there was damage to two spots. I emailed Furniture Medic about repairs. They gave me a quote and we set a date and time for the repair work. Don came to our house and performed the repairs to the mantel. You cannot tell that it was ever damaged. I would not hesitate to use Furniture Medic again.

I wasn't impressed. They were backlogged and the person we initially talked to misled us into thinking that they would at least be able to diagnose the problem within 2-3 days. $95 seemed like too much money for what they did. Besides, they spilled glue on one horizontal area of exposed wood and it was already dry when we picked it up. That did not make a good impression that someone was that sloppy. I have since been able to figure out the precise location of the rubbing sound and have had another repairman inspect the glider. When we dropped off the glider, he said that it was obvious that one of the ball bearings was shot, and that it was the cause of the rubbing sound. He called me a couple of days later to let me know what he found after he took the chair apart. He said that there was NO EVIDENCE that the chair had ever been reglued! I have contacted Furniture Medic to discuss this and to give them a chance to respond. Judging by the response they have submitted, they are just trying to look for excuses for why they did such a lousy job! Yes, our daughter loves the chair, but she was willing to wait for the chair to be repaired then just as now ... but NOT for it to be setting in a warehouse waiting for days before it was even looked at. I feel so cheated by these people. They took possession of the glider on the false pretense that they were going to look at it and diagnose the problem within 2-3 days. I have written countless reviews on Angie's List, the majority of which are A ratings. Buyer beware!
Description of Work: They were supposed to figure out the cause of the rubbing sound on our Amish-made oak glider. The only thing they said they had time to do after we got there was to reglue some of the loose joints.

Response from FURNITURE MEDIC BY DB
Customer brought her glider rocker to our shop on Feb. 21st and stated that the glider “made noise when rocking”. I personally inspected the item and found two leg stretcher’s (front and back) loose. The bearings had no indication of abnormal wear and tear which would have been the only other remaining thing that could have been causing the “noise.” The customer,[member name removed], indicated that she needed the chair post haste as her younger daughter loves the chair and “cry’s” when she can’t sit in it. Never did we ever state we were too busy to work her chair – it was the customers dire need to get the chair back quickly that made this a higher priority job. The stretchers were re-glued and after curing for a day the chair was operationally checked. There were no noises heard. It is unfortunate that the customer found a line of glue that oozed out from one of the stretchers attachment points after she got the item home. We take pride in our attention to detail and have no excuse for missing this. As for the price – our normal minimum in-shop repair charge is $95.00; don’t know where the $97.00 came from that [member name removed] referred to in her comments. ALL customers are made aware of our charges by way of our written estimate given to the customer prior to any work being performed. Mrs. Norman acknowledged that she agreed to the repair cost by signing the work authorization on our estimate and paid a 50% deposit. No one is ever forced to have their furniture repaired; if she had a problem with the price she could have declined our services and taken her glider rocker elsewhere. [member name removed] picked up her glider rocker on March 1st and both her and her husband tried out the rocker in our shop before taking it home. She was pleased with the work and paid us for the job. We have never heard from her regarding any noises or problems with the rocker until we were notified of her comments on Angies list posted May 20th – 3 ½ months after accepting the repair. Unfortunately, we can only warrant structural repairs for 90 days as we have no control in how the furniture is used on a daily basis. If she had notified us of the noise problem I would have gladly visited her home to re-inspect the chair; but we were not given the opportunity. Customer satisfaction is taken seriously in our business and if given the opportunity we will address customers concerns promptly; even after our 90 day warranty expires. Don Soncrant - Owner

Description of Work: Leg on dining room table broke where it attaches to table. He was able to mend it perfectly so we should have no further trouble. Table is 35 years old and has been moved many times as well as expanded for insertion of leafs. Frame at one end of a sofa bed broke, resulting in that end about 4" lower than the other end. Email to this company resulted in an appointment at our house a few days later. Appointment was kept on time, and Don was friendly and courteous. He created a "temporary" fix with a new hidden leg supporting that end of the frame. Fix is as effective as any repair of the broken frame would have been. Also left an estimate for a permanent frame repair, but suggested that was probably not necessary. We agree. Visit to the house and repair were done with no charges.

I called Tammy on Friday 5/25/12 and she said that with three chairs they might be able to charge me less than the usual fee of $90.00 or so per chair. When I took the chairs in a few hours later, Tammy called for Billy, who did the repairs, and he looked at the chairs and and gave her an estimate of 30 minutes per chair, so instead of paying almost $300 for three chairs, I had all three done for 145.00. The estimated time expected to do the work was two weeks, but even with a holiday (Memorial Day) weekend they finished the chairs in half that time. Tammy said that they do many different things, and will come to the home to do work. I have some doors I need properly hung and balanced and she said to call and Don would come out and take a look. The office was clean, the staff was friendly and efficient, and the entire experience was positive for me! I will certainly call them for any repair work for cabinets, doors, or anything else wooden as they seem to enjoy helping people with other things besides just gluing together broken furniture! I recommend this company highly and will refer my friends there when I can. The shop is a little difficult to find as you have to go west on Ajo to Dodge then turn north and go quite a distance to the address of 7210 South Dodge, Ste. 9. They do have a sign on the entrance display but the sign on the door for suite 9 could be a tad larger to make them easier to spot. Tammy said that people sometimes call her when they need more directions and that she is happy to do so. Thanks, Angie!
Description of Work: I had three wooden chairs that all needed to be reglued. In addition, I needed some advice and Billy gave me some good recommendations on removing some glue from two other chairs I had repaired elsewhere. He clearly understood what I needed and told me the pros and cons of different sandpapers to make sure I could do the repair myself. He also offered to remove the glue for me if I needed help with it. When Billy was finished with them, all three chairs were beautiful and sturdy! There was a small gouge on one of the chairs and I had discussed having it filled, but Billy explained that the filler would not match with the matte finish of my chairs and would make the gouge stand out, so we decided to leave it as it is small and not really noticeable.
