First Impression Ironworks

We went to their showroom in Tucson and liesurely walked through the store. Met by our salesman who explained what we could get and for what price. Every door is made to order. We were given a delivery date and a time window. The company called the day before and gave us an exact time. Installer arrived. Very courteous. It took about 2 hours to install the door.

It turned out excellent. They were excellent all the way through. The sales person was excellent. The process of writing up the order was excellent. They came when they were supposed to. They did what they were supposed to. They installed it perfectly, no problems. Their price was fine for what it is. The end of street standard is expensive but this was far better than other companies that we explored.

Installer took a few hours longer than what was estimated. We were innitially happy with the product and service but things have gone way downhill since then. Within about 6 months there was serious chipping and discoloration on door handle. I thought this would be a simple warranty issue, but they tried to argure that it was normal "wear" on the handle and that it was supposed to look like that. It took several phone calls and "discussions" with very rude representatives to convince them they needed to cover it under warranty and change out the handle. Customer service is seriously lacking here. They eventually did that, and the finish on the new handle has been fine since. About 6 months later, we noticed MAJOR chipping and flaking of paint off the window guard. This time, they agreed quickly to repaint it under warranty. They said it would take three weeks to strip the old paint and repaint and install. In reality, it took four weeks. We had become accustomed to having the security of a covered window, so those four weeks did not feel good. The person who reintalled it left the latch unlocked. Luckily, I checked it when he left and locked it myself. Now, the front door latch does not open and close smoothly anymore. There is a very annoying "catch" in the latch system every time we go to open the door. I have applied Wd40 to the mechanism which helpes a little, but the catch remains. It is so difficult to work with this company that we are simply living with the issue rather than trying to have them fix it.

Went to their website and filled out the request for an estimate on their website. Never heard from them. Not sure of the exact date I requested it but its been at least a week if not more. Maybe they do good work, I don't know but I'm moving on to others.

It was an excellent experience. We got what we paid for with respect to the price. The people who came in knew exactly what they were doing. The door is really nice and secure. They did a complete job.

We first met Roger at the Oro Valley Home Expo and were impressed by the security door products and flyers he had on display. The doors are more "custom" than other security door companies we had been researching; and we loved the wrought iron look. After meeting him at the Expo we immediately drove to the Thornydale showroom to see the full size doors and get a better idea of options/costs. His wife walked us through the showroom and gave us many great ideas and insight on the various options. We eventually narrowed down our options to a few designs we liked. She gave us rough estimates on all our choices and we were shocked by the affordability. We had previously researched the "top of the line" options at Home Depot and the prices at First Impression were cheaper (and much nicer looking) on a per-door basis. We eventually contacted First Impression again and Roger arrived at our home to conduct the measurements/estimate portion of the process. He was very thorough and patient with questions and our slight indecision about door and hardware colors! When the process was finished he provided a firm, written estimate and the decision was made to proceed. A couple weeks later when our HOA approval was obtained, we contacted First Impression again and were informed that their factory would then begin the door fabrication process, and that installation would be scheduled within three-four weeks once the doors were completed. Within three weeks, and prior to our Christmas day goal, the doors were ready and installation scheduled. Unfortunately the original installation date needed to be rescheduled due to their installer's illness, but they contacted us very early in the day and provided plenty of time for us to alter our schedule - they also minimized the need for us to schedule more time off from work by providing a Saturday morning installation option later that same week. On Saturday, the installer (Clay) arrived on time and had both doors installed and the locks keyed within three hours. We love the doors and the look they give to both the entry and back porch areas! We will definitely be contacting them again when we decide to replace the yard gate and eventually the pool fencing. It was a great experience from beginning to end.

We had First Impression Security Doors craft and install a steel security door/screen on our front door. We were very impressed with this company. We had three different companies come to our house and submit bids, all based on Angie's List recommendations. I think they are all reputable businesses with good products. First Impression was the most expensive, but not by much and we were very happy with their work. They install their security doors outside of the door frame, rather than drilling through the frame like one of the other companies. This is a much more stable and secure way to install the door. Furthermore, the inside-frame installation that the other company offered reduces the width of the door opening, whereas the First Impression installation does not. They have hundreds of designs to choose from, all of which can be crafted in dozens of colors, with a durable powder coat. I also like that they're an Arizona-owned company - we try to "shop locally," as it were. We worked with Dave (or Dan?) in the Tucson location, and he was very helpful and professional from start to finish. The door looks beautiful and functions perfectly. We've had many compliments from neighbors. I highly recommend this company and will use them again in the future if we have other needs that they can meet.

I love their doors. The estimate was for about $4000. I want an entry door; I don't want just a screen door. I haven't really dealt that much with them but as far as just getting the estimate, they were very prompt in coming and giving me good ideas. They were very patient. It takes me a lot to make a decision on something. It looks like they have very good product and a very high end quality when they make each items order. We can make any design change. It's not just what we see on the sight. We can pick a style and make any change to it, any number of times. They give us a cat drawing each time. They certainly do a cat drawing for each change we make once we've approved it at whatever point in time and then they make the door. They were very responsive. They were there when they said they were going to come. They were very professional. When I went to do it, things changed eventually and there were just a bunch of issues, so I'm just waiting.

Doors and windows are beautiful, high quality work. Installation was not without drama. Window did not fit and there were a number of other issues regarding installation. Calling the salesman and the the service manager was of little help. Issues were not satisfactorily resolved until they were hoping to get paid. All work is now complete and gorgeous but took more effort than it should have considering how much was spent on premium doors and windows.

Overall, everything went well from beginning to end.

Overall, we were very pleased with our experience with First Impression Security Doors. Their estimator was cordial, professional and helpful. All other staff we dealt with, from the showroom manager to the installers, were satisfactory. Unlike some other companies, they were willing to provide a written estimate. Their price was not the cheapest we found, but the combination of quality, price and features led us to select them. Another plus: this company has a factory in the Phoenix area, so their turnaround time was much less than other companies we checked out. We had one issue: the installer who came originally forgot his re-keying kit, so we had to reschedule a second appointment to finish the job (the re-keying and some trimming of felt and caulking that wasn't done originally). However, they were very accommodating and willing to work with us until the job was completed to our satisfaction. Finally, the showroom had a great selection of products that we were able to examine before we made our decision. All in all, we would highly recommend First Impression Security Doors.

We met their sales rep at a home show. He advised they had a good rating on Angie's list and patiently waited while I confirmed his claim on my Blackberry. They were very flexible in working with our schedules; coming to our house on the weekend when they said they would. The wrong hardware was inadvertently installed and they were very responsive in resolving the issue. We would use them again.

Estimate given 8-3-9. Sales person Matt Monahan brought samples of finishes and I selected one. Company was willing to refund my 50% deposit if HOA did not approve of color. Company able to provide me with list of homeowners in community who used the same color for their security door, thus expediting HOA approval for me. Installation occurred on 8-7-9. I was happy with the work. Door looks beautiful and other neighbors are interested in this product. The quality of this door is better than you get in the home improvement centers.

My initial contact was at the Scottsdale Arts Festival. The rep at the booth was very friendly and helpful and allowed me to look through their notebook full of pictures and designs. They have a fantastic website as well that can inspire ideas. The initial ballpark estimate was about half what I ended up spending but that was mostly due to the particulars of my door and configuration. If you have side lights that you want to include (I did, I like the consistency), you'll pay a lot more. And of course the design itself will change your price. Anyway Matt came to my house with samples and pictures and really helped me with design ideas and choices and gave me a written estimate. I sat on the estimate for at least a month, thinking about it and talking to my friends/family. Matt followed up once to see how I was doing during that time. I had decided I wanted a completely different design and asked him to come out again so I could see the finish colors again. He was extremely flexible with my schedule and came out on a Saturday afternoon and we designed my door together taking into consideration all of my concerns. I paid 1/2 up front and although he said it could be ready within 2 weeks, I knew I'd be getting my wood door refinished before the install and didn't know when that would be done. Matt said no problem, we'll just keep the door and when you're ready, call to make an appointment. The office called one time to see if I was ready and when I was they were able to install it within days on a day that worked for me. The install itself took longer than I expected, about 5 hours. They did a beautiful job, they were puctual, clean, articulate and friendly. There was no mess to clean up either. I couldn't be happier. After I was done I took a picture and sent it to Matt's email so he could see how it turned out. He called me within a few hours to share the excitement. I really had fun during the process and a lot of it was due to the great customer service by everyone. On a practical note, the sun screen material has made a huge difference in the temperature of my west facing foyer which gets really hot during the summer.

We ordered the door with the help of Kimberly the salesperson on Mother's Day, was told we would get a call to set a time for a final measurement of the door area, and paid half up front. The final measure went well. The install appt was made much sooner than we had thought which was fine with us. When the installer arrived with the door, he removed the existing door, and began working on the installation of the new frame and door. I really didn't inspect the new door, and neither did the installer as we both assumed it would be right. When he was almost complete I came out to look at it and noticed the kickplate we had ordered wasn't on the door. I checked our paperwork and it was clearly written that it was supposed to have a kickplate and it didn't. The installer called his mgr, and then told me that the mgr would be calling me to either offer me a discount to keep the existing door or change it to the way it was supposed to be. I spoke to my husband in the meantime and we decided we just wanted our door the way it was supposed to be made. When I spoke to Aaron the mgr. he was very apologetic and easy to deal with. He offered me a discount, but I told him that we just want the door we ordered. He understood and told the installer to remove it and that they would re build it and have it back to us in two days!! I was suspicious that it was going to be what we wanted in only two days, but Aaron reassured me and he was right. When it arrived two days later, it was gorgeous and secure as can be. It was exactly what we wanted. It was installed and the installer who was different from the original installer was very nice too. Everyone we dealt with were very friendly and professional. Great company overall to deal with and would use them again.

The service and workmanship was all excellent. The salesman came out did measurements and showed me different materials, colors and styles to choose from. Both the salesman and the installer were excellent.

They do excellent work and their services are excellent. I called them back to let them know how impressed I was. They have good quality doors. We had new doors installed 12 years ago and they did a horrible job. There is no comparison to these guys.

I did the research on Saturday after checking Angie's List. On Sunday we went to the showroom on 91st and Peoria. We got there late but Eric took the time to help us understand the product and to make our choices. We left with a contract for installation. They do all the work themselves so you are not at the mercy of a third party. Tuesday Felisha came by to measure and take pictures of the installation. Friday Al brought the finished frame and did all the fitting while here. He was very careful to have it all fit correctly and it looks really great. The window screen took a couple of phone calls to get finished but it was an add on when Felisha was here and not part of the original purchase. I have already referred them to three other people.

Very good overall. Super fast turn around. The workmanship is great. They were very professional, kept every appointment, called to confirm, and called to follow up. They are worth the money, highly recommend, and it's custom. In this case it was worth the money. They offer many options, and sound advice. This was a somewhat difficult install based on the home design, but they did a great job.

The door is incredibly beautifully done. There were a couple issues - some painting had to be patched on the screen part. The door didn't lock smoothly-it had been installed a bit off kilter. Someone came out and tried to fix it, then when that didn't work they sent the supervisor out and he remounted the whole thing so it works great now.

The door was custom made. They did an excellent job. When there was a problem with the door they were slow on repairing it. The quality is excellent. One person I spoke with about the problem, wasn't very cooperative.

I liked that they gave me all of the options to make the right decision for my front door. They showed me several patterns, colors and everything for my door. They were very patient with me. They represented themselves very well. They were also very knowledgeable about the product. They answered my questions, and left no doubt in my mind and that is great for a home owner.

First Impressions made a very good impression on my neighbor Matt and I had seen their listing on Angie's List, so I called Betsy to schedule an appointment. I already knew what door I wanted from looking at their website, which made the appointment pretty quick. I selected the color that matched the trim on my house, selected the door screen type then she measured the door since it's made to fit. On the following Monday, they called me to schedule the installation which happened today (Tuesday). The installer arrived right on time (they gave me a 12:00 - 2:00 pm window, he was here at 12:00) and I am very happy with the door. It actually looks better than I expected, the color matches the rest of the house and the design is doesn't stand out, it blends in very well. I recommend First Impression for security doors.
