Richard was right on time. He works efficiently, and is very neat despite all the debris that constitutes such a project. He's very patient and willing to consider options. I'm very satisfied with my experience and will call Richard for any future electrical needs. In comparing his rates to rates of 2 other firms, I found his rates to be far more reasonable, and he's a nice guy!

The work was performed in a less than one day to a high standard of quality. It was also done at a very reasonable price. The electricians which included the owner Richard were respectful of the property and left it clean. I was greatly pleased with the creative solution to the problem and would use Epperson Electric again without reservation.

We joined Angie's List to find a good electrician and hired Richard Epperson because of his glowing ratings. Honestly, I'm surprised that he did such a shoddy, half-way job for us. It was very disappointing. I'm going to have to get yet another electrician to finish the job. We hired Richard to fix the work of a previous handyman, who had installed a low voltage outdoor lighting system that wasn't working very well. I asked him to fix the broken lights and add about a dozen more (which I provided), to bury all the wires, and to make the lights operate manually (rather than via timer or electric eye). It?s a big yard and I guess the system was sort of complicated, but I made him a map and I was there all day to answer questions. He didn?t ask any. By the end (he came back a couple times), most of the lights were installed but not all; his helpers installed at least one broken light (I had extras that weren?t broken they could have used); cords still weren?t buried, and the old lights were scattered around the yard. Just yesterday, months later, I found a light he?d neglected to install, still in the box, buried in the lavender. He left lights open to indicate they needed bulbs (my husband okayed this but it seemed like a bad idea, since I didn?t have the bulbs), and it rained, and now some don?t work. He didn?t install a cover on an outlet that I asked for. He DID get the lights to operate via a switch, though not all of them. Two lights still go on automatically at sundown. Richard is laconic, which is fine, but I wasn?t always sure if we were on the same page. Sometimes I spoke with him and sometimes my husband did--I?m sure we all could have communicated with each other better. Still, I really did try, and I think I was pretty clear. In the end, it felt like I was dealing with someone who just didn?t want to do a job. He seemed overly busy and apathetic. Yes, I asked him to fix things correctly, but it seemed like he wasn?t up to it and I finally just wanted to get someone else. Because my husband paid, I had no idea it cost 1800 bucks?if I had known that, I would have pushed more.
Description of Work: Fixed and expanded low-voltage outdoor lighting system. Converted system to operate manually, rather than by a timer or electric eye.

I was initially going to go with three bids, but after meeting with Richard, I decided to go with him. I called him up based on his Angie's List reviews. He was very responsive, and agreed to come over to our house at a prearranged time. When he arrived (very punctually), he examined our panel setup, and explained what would need to be done. During this time, he even noted that since our setup was "pretty clean" (not obstructed or complex), and he would do it for the amount listed in the "spend" box above. While we were looking over the panel and immediate panel area, he called up a supplier (I believe) to ask if they had the parts for this job (they did). He also explained to me the limited amount of space there was for a new panel (due to a water pipe put in by the previous owner and maximum height restrictions for the top of a panel - 6' 6", I believe), but he would make it work. After recapping what needed to be done with him, I asked him when he could do this, and gave me a date. We agreed on the job and that was that. He had to change the date by one day due to TEP having to schedule a power kill, which was fine by me. He had notified me with as much time as he possibly could. The day of the job, he arrived punctually, and started his work. He had called me during the job for some inspection codes he needed (in the permitting paperwork) and again to say he was finished. For the price he quoted, he replaced the panel, put new ground wiring in, replaced the riser, hauled off the old materials, and left a clean workspace. I met with him after he had finished the job and he went over what he had done. Oh, and while all of this occurred, TEP moved our OH line connection at our (previous) request. Richard handled it all with the utmost professionalism. Richard maintains a calm attitude and clearly knows and understands his line of work. I am impressed with his work, and would hire him again in a heartbeat. He stuck with his original estimate, which I appreciated. Note: I had previously paid for a permit with the City of Tucson to upgrade our panel ($122.65 at the time of this review).
Description of Work: Mr. Epperson replaced/upgraded our old electrical panel with a 200 amp panel, ground lines, and a new riser.

RIchard did a complete electrical overhaul of my 100 year old home. He stood out from the other contractors because he was prompt coming to look at the property, prompt returning me a written bid, and his time frame and price were great. He delivered everything he said he would. He was prompt, respectful and worked efficiently around (and in conjunction with) my other contractors. I have used other electricians in the past and I will never hire another person again--Richard will always be the guy I call when I need electrical work. Addendum: I am a single woman who is my own general contractor on my home. It means a lot to me to find contractors who are respectful, prompt and treat all my questions and concerns seriously. RIchard deserves a A++++++++ for doing this every step of the way.

When he arrived to give us an estimate we had coded some items as more essential than others figuring we wouldn't have the money to do all of the projects at once. Richard was so reasonable that we agreed to schedule everything at once. He helped us know what to purchase, and some of the items, such as the smoke detectors he furnished, which was included in our bid. He was there a full day, and we had to schedule some time for an additional half day the following week. He was very professional and thorough. He probably could have completed all of the work in one day if he had hurried through the projects, but he was very thorough, taking the time to explain what was needed. Since that time, we have called him out for some additional work, and will continue to use and recommend his services!
Description of Work: We recently moved to a home built in 1995 that needed an electrician to perform a variety of miscellaneous services. We had a list of items we wanted done, and Richard Epperson arrived at an agreed upon time to give us an estimate of those items. The estimate involved installing new lighting fixtures in 2 bathrooms; replacing a bathroom exhaust fan; replacing 5 smoke detectors; fixing a porch and garage light that no longer worked; capping off a breaker panel for a hot tub that had been removed; installing a ceiling fan and light in bedroom including adding a control switch; installing a small ceiling fan in master bathroom and adding a control switch; replacing a light switch for a ceiling fan; Installing GFI outlets; replacing a chandelier and a few other miscellaneous projects.

I couldn't have been more pleased. Initially there were scheduling problems caused by a sudden increase in workload because of........ POSITIVE REPORTS ON ANGIES LIST! However within a few weeks Mr. Epperson had hired a young trainee/apprentice and in the subsequent visits all of the work was done on time. The quality of the work could not have been better; Mr. Epperson is a true craftsman and the young apprentice he hired fortunate to able to get his training by an individual with such high work and quality standards.

I contacted Mr. Epperson by phone a week prior to him coming over to do the work. He was able to give me a quote over the phone; this saved us both time and money. We also agreed that I would purchase all the required hardware in order to save myself some money (Military Discount at Home Depot). Upon a prompt arrival, Mr. Epperson evaluated the situation and began working while I ran back to the store to get a part that he recommend to improve the tracked lighting. He was very proficient with his wiring and without a doubt knew exactly what he was doing and how to do it efficiently. Overall, he worked a full day from 9:00am to 4:00pm and didn't leave until everything was cleaned up and even spent some extra time discussing a future electrical project I wanted his help with. I was very impressed with his work, his professionalism, and his friendly nature. He is now my go-to-guy for electrical work!
Description of Work: Diverted power to, and installed, a 16' span of tracked lighting in my great room. Installed two outside power outlets. Expaned a single gang power outlet to a four gang outlet in my dining room.

Epperson installed the original timer, so I called him. He said he would get back to me to set a time to do the work. I hadn't heard from him by the middle of the next day, so I called again. ( hence B for responsiveness.) We arranged a time the next day. He arrived on time, having purchased a new heavy-duty timer and installed it. It didn't work at first, but he surmised that there was a fuse or circuit breaker on the appliance that had blown when the previous timer failed. This turned out to be the case. He replaced the fuse and the timer worked as expected. The whole installation, including the new, different, timer box and debugging took just 1.5 hours. The charge, including the cost of the new timer was moderate. I was and am entirely satisfied with the job.

After another electrician had failed to fit me into his schedule, I called Epperson to request a new ceiling fan install. He had a break in his schedule that enabled him to come the very next day. There was no power to the ceiling and he had to run power for the fan and install a ceiling fan brace between the rafters. (the work would have been $25 cheaper if I wasn't set on having it in exactly the center of the room. I also wanted to add a new circuit to the room. He was careful to check his ability to reach the circuit box before we finalized that work and he discussed the option for how the new circuit could be located. He worked neatly, made minimal drywall cuts and cleaned up well.
Description of Work: Installed one ceiling fan, which required running power to the ceiling. Also added one new circuit to the room to increase available power to my hobby room.

I sold an older house in Sam Hughes neighborhood and the buyers couldn't get a loan without having the house rewired. Epperson completed the work in a week and charged exactly what he quoted on the bid. He did minimum cutting and a contractor working with him patched the few places cut in the walls for $200. I was extremely satisfied with his work. Additionally about a week later he installed a fan with lights in our home. Our home has a flat roof with no attic. He was able to fish most of the wiring and made only a very, very small hole in the wall. Additionally he fixed an outlet on a wall so it went through the wall into a closet and we could plug something either into the room outlet or the closet outlet. He charged $232 for installation of the fan and outlet.

I got Richard's name from Angie's List and he did work in January for me which was great. I forgot to do report. I called him again for this job. He knows my house and over the phone he gave me an estimate. He came and was tidy and did a perfect job for a great price. Other electricians I have hired have charged me $95 just to look the job over. The $150 was for labor the supplies for the recessed light and the dimmer switch. I love his work and will only use Richard for any electrical work I need in my home.

Originally contacted on 3/15, he arrived the following day for the estimate - he offered several options for the installation, and frankly I was shocked at how inexpensive it would be. The following week Mr Epperson arrived at the agreed time, he went right to work and had the fans installed in no time. He even put up with my overly loud and playful dogs. He is professional and courteous. I will definately call him for all my electrical work in the future.

THESE GUYS ARE CRAZY! We failed the fire inspection of our church due in part to some substandard electrical work in the church basement. Due to their ratings on Angie's list, I contacted them, and an appointment was made. An electrician met us and proceeded to do the work. Once he was done he refused the check!! He said he would only accept payment after we passed the inspection. We passed the inspection the next week and I sent him a check. And it was only $65 for a couple hours work! No service charge added on top of the work like so many others do. It is had to find service like that no days.

I wanted to update my kitchen by removing the old track lighting and installing recessed lights and pendant lights over the bar area. Richard did an excellent job and charged excatly what he quoted. I researched service providers and chose Epperson Electric based on previous Angie's List reports. I wanted to add recessed lighting to my living room and master bedroom. I notified Richard Epperson by e-mail and ended up confirming an appointment to perform an estimate very quickly with Richard providing a baseline cost for each light. Richard is a professional, knowledgeable electrician, and his expertise and experience helped me determine an appropriate configuration. I decided on four recessed light cans in each room. Richard and I coordinated an installation date within the week. Since my wife and I take off from work to be at home, I'm always concerned about punctuality. I needn't have worried. Richard arrived at the agreed upon time and proceeded to complete the job ahead of his estimated time. He minimized the mess from moving about in the attic and cutting the drywall in the ceiling. All things considered, my wife and I are completely satisfied. I would not hesitate to request Richard's services as a professional electrician. He's why you want to use a professional licensed electrician. In the end, his price was exactly as quoted and almost 50% less than what my original builder was charging when the home was in the framing stage and the installation would have been much easier.
