On 2/4/2020 Elite dispatched a Tech to evaluate my garage door opener. Johnny the tech, stated the motor was fried. I asked how much it would cost to replace it and he said $799.00. This included the belt driven motor, rail and 2 car openers. I needed this immediately, so I approved the replacement of these items. After the job was completed and paid for, I did some research which revealed that this job could have been done for HALF the price through Home Depot. Feel I was ripped off by Elite Garage Door and Gates and the key pad was not even included...

Precision came out, looked at our door and declared it to be unrepairable. They said we needed a whole new door for $859.11. Being a youth organization, we don't have a lot of money, so we got a second opinion. Another company came out, looked at it, and had it repaired in less than 30 minutes for $85. Precision is now off our provider list.

Had a broken spring on my garage door. I used Angie’s List for find a contractor to fix the garage door. They came out that day, (Impressive) but the quoted for $800. I had to have them repeat the estimate slowly, estimate confirmed at 800 Dollars. That’s 8 One Hundred Dollar bills. I asked if he was replacing the entire door and his response was, “No, just 2 springs”. I told him that I’m going to use someone else and he left. I called their competitor and they estimated the job to be at 200 dollars at the most. I asked their professional opinion regarding why the price of a spring would be so high and their response was laughter. So, just beware that Precision Door Service may try to rip you off.

Garage door appears to be working fine post repair. I didn't have time to research so my spouse called - we spent at least $100 - $150 more than necessary in my opinion and based on highest estimates I can find online. Don't like the fact that I didn't receive an invoice at the time of the payment transaction. All electronic on an i-pad. Price included a 10 year warranty....but again no paperwork at time of transaction so....who knows. We called at 9:30am and advised it would be 4:00pm - ended up being about 7:00pm arrival. Fortunately we didn't have to go anywhere tonight or would be dealing with this again tomorrow.
Description of Work: Door Spring was broken - know enough to know that both springs need to be replaced, so had that done. Repairman (Scott) diagnosed needed springs, and repaired in about 75 min. Appeared to be competent at the work.

Great! I have dealt with this company in the past. They are very responsive, punctual and professional. The service technician, David, diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it. All questions were answered. A year ago they also installed a new garage door opener (this current issue was unrelated)- and that too went very well. I wholeheartedly recommend this company.

Good: Called in the night before and was offered a call the very next morning between 8-10 Even though I did not use them it seems like they carry a good product and are knowledgeable Pre-called before arriving Bad: Pre-call was at approximately 8:30 and did not arrive until right at 10am Tech spoke bad to my wife about owner of franchise and how the Phx franchise gets everything Too expensive wanted approximately $650.00 for two springs and a new set of cables when 2 other quotes came in at $250.00 and $325.00 for same work a little less warranty. Very apparent tech was commission based was trying to sell anything from springs to a whole new garage door and motor Did not go with due to these reasons.

The job was completed quickly once the techs arrived. I contacted them shortly after 6 pm and was told one customer was ahead of me and someone would call in a couple hours to let me know they were on the way. No call came so I called them back. I was told them that my appointed was scheduled for 10 pm to midnight. That was the first time I was told of the time period. The techs called around 9:30 pm to say they were 30 minutes away. I asked if they knew the nature of the job. They did not. Pricing had been vaguely discussed with the first dispatcher. The tech provided info that led to the anticipated cost being at least three times of estimates provided earlier. Also, the techs stated that there were two customers ahead of me rather than the earlier statement of one.

I found the repairman very personable and indeed he had been a neighbor in the past which I was unaware of when I called the company. He gave me the option of buying what he had on his truck or installing something I went to purchase. He said he only carried two kinds of openers and that the others had a lot of extra electronic stuff that would just need repairs. That his were the most reliable but he'd install a garage door opener that I went to buy at Home Depot for about $100 installation. He said it would only save me about $70 which was very misleading and I'm not sure why he didn't think I'd check up on that. I let him install the chain drive 1/2 HP Liftmaster model139.54985, a $159.00 opener according to Sears, for $500 which included a $100 off coupon, so he said. So the total price would have been over $600 without this "coupon". I don't have a problem paying for good service and he was prompt, assessed the situation and provided me with options, albiet an incomplete amount of information to make the best choice. He cleaned up after himself and explained everything to me about the installationand usage of the new system. The price includes two additional years of warranty over the 1 year manufacturers warranty so if anything goes wrong in the first three years, I'm covered. I think it said a 10 year warranty on parts as well if I'm reading that right. So if you want a no muss, no fuss solution that you don't mind paying through the nose for, I can recommend Precision Door Service. He graciously said he'd use my old sensors to fix the other side which was not working and he said he did. But it doesn't seem to work now, so either the sensor was not the issue or something went wrong. I do think he closed it while I was present and it worked, but now it doesn't. When we get ready to replace the other door, we will try another option. Since we could have practically replaced both doors for what we paid the one I feel like I did not make the best decision. Forewarned is forearmed.
Description of Work: Replaced an old garage door opener with a new chain drive liftmaster and keypad. He also used one of the old sensors to replace a bad one on our other door opener.

No problem at all with the work that was done. Technician was clearly knowledgeable and easily able to complete the repair. His manner was a bit off-putting in terms of being disparaging about other "less professional" services and the superiority of his company, but nothing seriously problematic. . When he stated the cost (which he did up front) , he indicated immediately that I was paying for his knowledge. Probably true, especially given the critical timing and nature of the job (couldn't lower my garage door). Although I really have no idea what a standard cost for such a repair should be (and he commented that he was giving me a $100 discount/ waiving the service visit fee, and that his company did not charge extra for weekends), I did still feel that the price was a bit high for the amount of labor and time required (I had a licensed electrician out for an electrical short / power outage) the prior night WELL after hours, who worked for more than double the amount of time, including a difficult diagnostic work up and repair , at a cost of barely over half of the cost of this garage door repair visit...but maybe this is not a reasonable comparison)... Nonetheless, the response was quick, the repair got done in a thorough and timely fashion and that is a really good thing....especially on a holiday weekend. Might consider trying another highly rated provider in the future, but would not rule out coming back to this one.
Description of Work: Responded within hours on a Saturday , to repair a garage door that had been torn off track by a car backing into it. This was great and much appreciated. One of the two torsion springs on an oversize double garage door snapped and trapped our car inside the garage, and we called Precision Door to replace the spring. The technician called before the scheduled time to tell us what time he would arrive, and he was right on time. He took the time to show us how to tell when the garage door springs are becoming weak and need replaced, and since the house was 11 years old, it was obvious that the other spring was weak and needed replaced as well. Since we were already paying for a service call, we had him replace the spring on the small garage door as well. The springs they install have a 15-year warranty, so they are obviously of much higher quality than what the builder originally installed. This technician was very knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about garage doors from him. The work was completed quickly and efficiently, and we received a 15% AAA discount as advertised. When the work was completed, the doors operate much quieter than they did before, which I now know is because the new springs are perfectly counterbalancing the weight of the doors, so the garage door opener motors do not have to work nearly as hard. To his credit, the technician did not try to sell us anything we didn't need, rather, he explained things very well, told us what the alternatives and risks were, and accepted our decisions. Most people don't give their garage door a second thought, yet a spring failure could easily cause injury or death under certain circumstances. By spending the money now to have all of the springs replaced, we have greatly reduced the chance that a spring failure will occur for many years to come.

He came on time and he did an excellent job both times. He is very nice, friendly, and professional. The garage door opener he installed is the most quiet garage door opener my sister has ever used. Please see update below: The provider was SUPPOSED to install a garage door and opener. (My spouse had tried to back out of the garage without opening the door - but that is a different narrative!) I had emailed Precision on Saturday and never got a response, but since Precision had performed an exemplary inspection and maintenance about 2 years ago, I went ahead and called them Monday morning and they said someone would be out later that day. I had to work but my spouse was home. Josh showed up and said that they could put in a new door and that we should replace the opening mechanism, that the new door would be very quiet. He said that the price would be about $1200. When Dee mentioned we had a $200 off coupon, the the price went to $1400 less $200 so still $1200. He showed Dee photos of several types of doors, they discussed windows, design and color and she chose the door Josh recommended.. Please note that she is not technically or mechanically minded and relied on Josh as the professional. Since we thought we would be spending $4000-$5000, $1200 sounded pretty good. Josh said that the new door could be installed on Wednesday afternoon. We never asked for the cheapest and Dee was not informed that an insulated door was even available! We did not receive any type of paperwork or contract or quote sheet or anything. I was home on Wednesday and a wonderful workman named Erik came to install the door. He put the new door up and then came to get me where I was working inside. He informed me that the opening mechanism would not fit between the front wall and a support beam across the ceiling of the garage. This was my first opportunity to inspect the door and it is a piece of thin, very thin, metal with no insulation. This for a west facing garage in southern Arizona! It also rattled like a theatrical thunder making piece of metal. I told Erik how disappointed was and he agreed that it was an inappropriate door for our garage. Erik said that he would talk to his boss. He said there was another type of opener that mounted on the front or side wall of the garage instead of an overhead belt or chain drive. He said that it was more expensive and I told him that I was not going to pay more for Josh's lack of measuring! I also reaffirmed how disappointed I was in the thinness of the metal and lack of any insulation. He said his boss would call me the next day. That did not happen. I called Precision about 3:30 PM on Friday, January 31st and asked to have someone call me. I explained that I was going into a meeting at 4PM but would be out by 5:30 PM and gave my cell phone. I never got a call back. On Saturday, I checked messages at home and found that Josh had called about noon or so on Friday. He said that they could put in the wall mounted drive and charge us just $100 more(!). I called him back Monday from work with my concerns. I told him that I was not going to pay more because he had failed to do his job and that, in fact, I did not want this flimsy door at all. (I literally could open a hole in this door with the can opener on my Swiss Army knife!) He said that he would have to talk to his boss and would get back to me. About 30-45 minutes later, Josh called back to say that they would not charge us any more for the new opener and I told him that that did not address the flimsy door and that I did not want a single sheet of metal door on a western-facing garage. I told him that we wanted an insulated door - like had been there. He said that he did not have the authority to do that and he would have his boss call me right back. I never got that call at work on Monday. Josh had my work number because I gave it to him and why he or his boss would think I would be at home to get a call when I told Josh I was at work, gave him the work number AND he called me back at work! However, when I cleared messages off our home phone on Tuesday, his boss, Frank something - had called. He sort of mumbled his last name, so I do not know what it is. I called the number Frank ??? left and got put through to some operator who had no idea of who Frank ??? is. She did take my message which is "I am totally unsatisfied and want the door removed and we will deal with another company. I wonder if I will hear back from anyone?!? I have checked on other garage doors and openers. Lowe's, for instance, quoted me about $1800 for their best quality insulated door, opener and installation. We would have happily paid that to Precision. Now I never want to do business with Precision again. I had a good discussion with Frank, Josh's boss. It really appears that Josh is new and really either does not know much or does not know how to express what he does know. It now appears that we will get the insulated door that we need, the appropriate opened and at a reasonable cost. The new door will be a special order so not available until FEB 26th. I will update this and change any ratings as I see how things unfold.
Description of Work: We are still negotiating. After posting a scathing review here, someone at Precision Garage Doors finally called me back at the correct number. I explained my issues and we are working together to solve them. If things now go as I am told they will, I will be up-dating this review. For now I am in a wait and see position - but I do feel much more hopeful!
