 + -1 moreThe over all experience couldn't have gone better. Both Roger and his sons were professional and personable. He could have been more timely about arriving when he said he would, but I'm finding out that most contractors tend to be that way. They seem to be on their own clock and schedule. But he really does deliver a quality product and stands behind what he does. The spa is in and works like a champ... gotta run, time to soak in the spa!
Description of Work: Install a 220v electrical service for a spa. I had three electrical companies provide an estimate to install an 220v electrical service for a spa. When the house was built I had wire laid out to from the electrical panel to where the spa service was to be placed. The wire has been in place for 8 years or so and never hooked up to the electrical panel so I wasn't sure of its condition. Of the three companies that came out, Roger was the only one who could answer all my questions and knew exactly how to test the wire to ensure it was safe. Roger and his crew (actually his sons) came out and completed the job in a day as promised. The quality of the job was outstanding. The wiring inside the electrical was neatly placed as was the wiring in the service. They placed the whip for the spa in the exact location that I specified. This was extremely difficult because there were no forms for the spa pad yet, just my crude calculations. After the spa pad was poured the measurements were exact. When the spa was delivered and placed on the pad, the whip came up in the exact spot it needed to! I was pretty amazed. There was one thing I needed Roger to fix and that was that the whip needed to be lower that what he originally made it. I called him the day before the spa was to be delivered (in a panic) and he came out that evening and fixed it... no charge. Nice to see someone who keeps his word to make things right.

Description of Work: Mr. Robert Lavarria Is a very gentle, soft-spoken older gentleman. I & my husband felt very confident & at ease with him. When I called him to explain my problem that arose very suddenly on Sunday, he came right out & fixed my problem. My refrigerator had shorted out & as a result I had no electricity in my kitchen & my refrigerator wasn't working. I had just done my grocery shopping, so my freezer & refrigerator were full & the food was in jeopardy. Mr. Roger addressed the problem in a VERY professional & timely manner & fixed all that was wrong. Mr. Roger also explained all that was wrong & what he was doing to correct the problem so that I could understand it. He was very patient with me & answered all the questions my husband & I had for him. He also took digital pictures of the faulty outlets & will submit them with the detailed report he is submitting to my homeowners insurance company. Because I had made a property owners insurance claim with my homeowners insurance company, no money exchanged hands at this time.I really enjoyed my experience & YES I will call on him in the future for any electrical needs that arise!!

 + -1 moreBased on the estimate I received From "Day Star" I did not purchase the property I was considering. Needless to say they did not receive any work from the time consuming estimate they gave me; But their honesty and hard work was appreciated and I will use them in the future.
Description of Work: I received a very in depth estimate for electrical upgrading and repairs to a property I was considering buying. Roger and Drew wasted no time in fitting me in their schedule and spent a great deal of time at the property listening to my requests and reviewing what needed to be done and possible options for service, this estimate also included the need for Roger to contact Tucson Electric Power Field Techs for plausible adjustments to the power delivery service to the property which he did in a timely fashion considering our meeting was late on a Friday afternoon.

 + 0 moreRoger saved us money by telling us that our remote was not compatible with our new fan. He offered to alter the fan in order to make the project work with the fan we purchased, but he suggested that we buy a new fan with a remote included. It saved us labor and the new fan was great. We were able to return the fan we had originally purchased. Roger cleaned up after he completed the work and replaced the pieces of drywall that needed to be removed in order to install our fan. I couldn't be happier with his work.
Description of Work: Roger installed a fan and light in a ceiling without electrical access. He provided the highest quality of service for us. He returned my call in a timely fashion, was on time to his appointment, and gave us an accurate estimate. I would use Roger and his sons for any electrical work I needed.

 + 0 moreRoger and his sons installed recessed lighting in our kitchen and breakfast noon, as well as a new lighted ceiling fan in our living room. They also installed dimmer switches. They were prompt, clean, and did an excellent job. We are delighted with the results. My only "negative" is that we had some trouble with email communications. When I called Roger, however, he always answered and was always helpful. They are very professional and courteous and I love that they are a local family-owned business. We will hire them again if we have future lighting and electrical needs. I highly recommend this company and I recommend that you use telephone for most communications.

I needed to have electrical put into the existing wall and ceilings and it needed to be done quick before the drywall work was completed. I called Roger and his son from Angie's List. They were rated very high so I felt no need to check them out further. They came out that evening. As soon as we got the keys to our new house they showed up. I couldn't believe it. Roger and his son even cleaned up the mess. The house was spotless when they left. They explained how the new wiring would work and left us detailed description of how. We are so happy to find an electrician we can trust here in Tucson.
Description of Work: Roger and son came out to our new home to do electrical in our ceiling for a fan. We had contractors getting ready to start doing work on the drywall the next day. They had to cut holes in the ceiling and at the corner to run wiring from the receptical to the spot in the ceiling where we wanted to put the ceiling fan.

The date selected was within one week of the estimate. They arrived promptly and quickly went about their tasks. They demonstrated a thorough knowledge and expertise of electricity and recessed lighting design. They were quick, efficient and courteous. After completing the job their cleanup was immaculate. The price charged was extremely reasonable. We would recommend DAY STAR without reservation or qualification.

Needed installed 5 can lights in my kitchen and replacement of 2 surface mounted lights to cans in the hallway. Contacted Roger directly via phone to set up appointment for him to give me an estimate on the work to be done. Said he was in the area and would stop by in a couple hours if that was okay. Arrived on time and he along with his son talked about what I wanted done and we also talked about several options regarding light choices. Roger said he would send me an estimate and could go from there. After waiting several days for estimate which didn't arrive, contacted him via email through Angie's list. Received estimate via email the next day. WIth the estimate in hand decided that I would have Day Star perform the work as per the estimate. Called Roger and told him that I wanted him to do the job and for him to look over his schedule and call me when he had something open. Have not heard from him. Scheduled work with another contractor.

 + 1 moreThis entire experience from the day Roger arrived to look at the job and submit a bid through completion could not have been better. He arrived exactly on time to perform the estimate and listened to what we wanted. He then asked us what our plans were for the areas and gave us options on how the job could be done to get us what we needed safely. I really appreciated his expertise in evaluating electrical loads and suggesting where new circuits needed to be established. Roger and his crew arrived promptly on both days of the job ( this was planned for two days) and wasted no time getting started. From their approach it was obvious that they had already discussed the work and developed a plan. They were able to complete the job earlier than I expected on the second day. He and his crew are exceptionally professional and very considerate of the home. The damage to the drywall was minimal despite the amount of new wire that had to be run. The cleaned up all the work areas prior to their departure. I highly recommend this company.

 + -1 moreThis is the second time we've used Day Star Service Co. in a week. Our panel is 33 yrs old & we had one breaker fail & one with signs of heat which they replaced on the first visit. The second visit involved another breaker that was tripped when an older living room lamp shorted out. They helped us out by scheduling both repairs as soon as possible & keeping us advised on expected arrival times. Also they let us know all of our options so we could make an educated decision. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish & we will be calling them again for future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Replaced all circuit breakers, corrected doubles on breaker & neutral buss, & rerouted wire to fit properly in service panel.

The few times I asked if they could do an additional task they did them with no problem. He did some troubleshooting and even pointed out things in the house that he saw needed repair that weren't electrical, just for my information. Would use them again anytime.
Description of Work: Updated electrical panel. Properly grounded system. Previous owner had enclosed a carport to make a garage and the wiring was not to code. Roger put in a circuit to the garage and rewired everything correctly. Installed motion light and outdoor switch on garage. Installed GFCI outlets in kitchen. Replaced 3 ceiling fans. Rewired one fan to operate on wall switch. Rewired fixtures in bathroom and replaced old fan and light fixture. Replace some broken outlets. Replaced hall light fixture.

Their design of GFI circuits corrects problems with a light over the tub and set up for easy reset of air tub circuits. The work crew was professional, arrived on time and completed the work in conjunction with the bath remodeling company.
Description of Work: Day Star corrected wiring from a previous remodeling project for out master bath. They moved lights, installed receptacles, wired fans, rewired light circuits and fan circuits.

 + -1 moreThe electricity went out in the master bath and dining room late Saturday night. Roger called me Sunday morning (in response to my email earlier that morning) at 0745 and said he would be out first thing Monday morning. The phone call letting me know he would be arriving in a few minutes was very considerate. He and his son showed up on TIME and got right to work! They found the problem and repaired it much quicker than I expected. They also repaired an outlet that wouldn't work from the switch like it was suppose to. When I mentioned we were thinking about upgrading the "panel" as part of our whole house renovation they said it wasn't necessary. The "panel" was just fine the way it was and didn't need to be more powerful. That was a relief to us because we weren't sure. They were extremely polite and professional and the price was no where near what I expected! Hiring them was a complete shot in the dark. Without any hesitation, I would hire them again! Day Star Service Company are my go-to electricians!
Description of Work: Repaired electricity in master bath, closet, hall and dining room. Thoroughly checked "electrical panel", several outlets and light switches. Also repaired a DIY project that wasn't quite right and seemed to have caused the problem all together - I think. I don't know anything about electrical work so I'm not sure if they did more than what I described.
