Day Star Service Company

Day Star was prompt in providing an estimate for an electrical upgrade. He emailed the proposal within a day or two so I was happy with that. I left a message requesting further clarification about the estimate, but didn't receive a return phone call for a few days, so I emailed Roger Larriva(owner) and got a quick response from him saying he had been busy the last few days. I received a follow up call the next day from Mr Larriva to discuss the estimate. Even though I had changed my mind about doing the electrical upgrade, he volunteered to come out and look at the existing wiring to make sure it was properly fused. He did this pro bono. At that time, he also gave me an estimate(which I requested) for installing an outdoor GFCI. Overall, the experience with Daystar was a positive one and I would not hesitate to use him in the future as he is knowledgable and ethical. I think he works hard to do a good job for the customer--not to mention he provides overall good service.

All work was completed by Day Star Service Company in a professional and timely manner. Required permits and inspections were scheduled in a timely manner at a convenient time for the home owner. Home owner contact information was provided to the inspectors who then called prior to entering the property. I requested this to make sure the dogs and the people remained safe. During work on this project some unexpected developments occurred. Roger and Drew Larriva handled these situations very professionally. They always focused on the quality of the work versus the amount of time it took to complete the job. My knowledge of electrical terms expanded by observing the work being done and asking questions. Answers and explanations were given willingly and with quite a bit of detail. I would not hesitate to hire Day Star Service Company for any future electrical needs.

Work performed by Day Star Service Company was completed in a timely and professional manner. Roger and Drew Larriva were very professional and personable while working on my project. They asked questions when decisions needed to made and were very patient in responding to my questions throughout the course of their work. Communication was extremely timely, both via email and phone. Upon completion of tis work, I requested an estimate for additional electrical work.

I was getting my backyard prepped to have some concrete poured when we realized that we had some shallow conduit in our backyard that needed to be buried. As this put a halt on our pour, I called a few electricians out but not of them were as polite, friendly, and time oriented as Roger. The concrete workers finished prepping the backyard and rescheduled the pour for the next day, and Roger was in my backyard within hours of the first call for an estimate. I stressed my timeframe and after figuring out some numbers Roger and his son began working just minutes later. Instead of digging a trench and replacing the conduit, they realized there was another conduit running to the shed so they rerouted the wires through that one and completely got rid of the shallow conduit. They also moved the grounding wires to make the area look more attractive (looks amazing). Updated the fuse box in the shed to a modern electrical component, while also moving some outlets to bring things up to code. I have a few other electrical needs around the house and I will use them without hesitation. DayStar is very friendly and customer service oriented with a great response time. They are also absolutely willing to work on prices!

I called Roger on Thursday and he and his son came to my home to do the work the next day. They were very polite and professional and completed the work in a timely manner. He explained to me the nature of the problem and the details of the fix. I would recommend this company to anyone who had electrical work to be done.

The guys from Day Star were great - they were polite, punctual and knowledgeable. They paid great attention to detail, which I really appreciated. When they encountered a problem with our 30-year-old wiring, they would discuss it first, agree on the approx, and fix the problem. They were generous in their explanations of what needed to be done - which was important to me -- and described their work when I asked. I recommend them highly and will use them the next time I need a good electrical team.

I believe the gentlemen to whom I spoke with on the phone that Thursday morning (8/1/13) was the owner of the company in question. He was very professional as well as understanding of my need to get a electrician to my home as soon as possible to complete the installation of the tankless water heater. I had the dry wall off the area where the water heater was gogin to be mounted on the utility room wall, so a electrician could get to a electrical source to install a new electricial socket. The gentlemen was on his way into the office, he was on his cell phone when I got a hold of him and he ask if he could call me back as soon as he got into the office. Around Fifteen (15ea.) minutes later, he did call me back and I explain to him the urgency of having a electrical outlet installed. He reviewed the schedules of his electricians in the field and noted that he could have someone out to my home by noon on Thursday (8/1/13) morning and the cost would be roughly around $175.00 or less. Thinking back to this conversation, I realize I had gvien him the "OK" to come to my home, but I don't recall him ever break down that cost of $175.00 or less; did that include the time from the last call to my home or what was their current rate as electricians. The Two (2ea.) young men as I mention earlier came to the door and introduces themselves and I took them to the utility room where the electrical socket needed to be installed. The time it took for both of these individuals to completed the the installation was less then Thirty (30ea.) minutes and that's counting from the time they rang my door bell to the time they left my drive way. After they finished the work, they clean-up the area they work in and then it took them about ten minutes to write-up the bill for their services. As I noted about the cost for their brief time was $181.88 dollars, their bill didn't break down the parts or labor, basically cover the total cost. I greatly appreciated their ability to help me out in a jam and when time was critical, but I believe for the short period of time they where at my home or not understanding their cost structure, I believe Day Star Servvice Company, Inc. to be pricey.

I selected this company based on the Angie's List reviews. The owner and his son came out as scheduled and seemed very knowledgeable and professional. They said they would work up the quotes and get them back to me. It was over Memorial Day weekend so I wasn't concerned when I didn't receive the quotes as soon as promised. I needed to have garage lights fixed since we were in violation of the HOA and the work needed to be completed by the end of the month (which I explained when they came out for the estimate.) I got the quote on Monday and there were some discrepancies on the work order which needed to be corrected. Again, no big deal since we had a bucket list of items and it would be easy to miss something or misunderstand the scope. My only complaint is that the owner did not return my calls or messages. I had to call three times until they happened to answer. When I spoke to the owner, he said they were now too busy to do the work in the time frame we had discussed previously. That left me in a bad spot and I had to call another electrician (Epperson Electric) who showed up as scheduled, did all the work when needed for less money, and most importantly, was more responsive. I will give the owner credit, however; he did send me an email apologizing for leaving me in the lurch.

Roger and his son and crew were very efficient and kept me well informed of each step. They were very courteous, and it was a delight to work with them. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

Roger and his son were able to fit me in the day after I called them for an appointment. They understood what the wiring was like in my 1950's mid-town home and they was able to get the fixture installed correctly in a short amount of time. Roger gave me some tips for working with my wiring and offer to give advice if I ever needed it.

I would highly recommend Daystar. The work was completed on time and the price was reasonable.

Roger and his son were great. They researched the needed part ahead of time so that they could bring the right thing to the house. They bought it and brought it and installed it. They ran into one question about this new piece of equipment but took the time to make a phone call and find out the answer from the manufacturer; the whole process took an extra hour, but they did it correctly and the lighting has worked fine ever since.

Very nice man and his son. Arrived right on time. Very efficient and knowledgeable. Seemed agreeable to doing additional work. which we discussed. I gave them my email address and they had my phone number. They were to get back with me. Although I thought their prices were high, I was willing to have them do the additional work because they seemed so capable. They never called back or emailed me to schedule the other work. Since then, other LED bulbs have gone out so I'm not really sure if the electrical diagnosis was correct or not but since I haven't heard from them, I assume they don't want to do any more work here anyway.

A father and sons business. Roger did the estimate the same day I called and was able to fit me into his schedule within a couple of days. I received estimates from a couple of Angie's List "A" providers and Day Star was much more reasonable in his estimate. They arrived on time and introduced themselves, outlined the work to be done and did it quickly, cleaned up and said to let them know if I have any problems. They were friendly and professional and I would definitely use this company again.

This family business is great. They were all very professional/honest, very nice and did a great job with the work. It turned out that part of the work in the estimate wasn't actually required, upon further inspection. The whole process from getting the estimate to completing the work was a great experience. The quality of their work at their price is a great deal. I will certainly use them in the future and recommend them to anyone requiring electrical work.

I would not use Day Star Services again. When I questioned the amount of time involved, two hours, they said that they charged half an hour for coming to the job site. However, they happened to have been at another job site just before coming to our house, that site was only one mile away In short $80 for their travel time did not seem at all reasonable to me. Finally, the cover plates for each of the two junction boxes did not match the ceiling (dry wall) color, not even close.

I highly recommend Daystar Service and Roger and his sons. I appreciated their honesty and attention to detail in all of the projects they did for us. I had taken one week off work to accomplish a kitchen remodel and had booked all the contractors needed very tightly in advance. Roger was appreciative of the tight deadline and how critical he was to the first steps needed to pull the wiring and change the power source locations before the cabinet installers came the next day. Roger was prompt on Monday morning and the quality of the work was fabulous! He showed up two days later as promised to hook up the electrical. I can honestly say Roger & Sons made this job electrical portion of this job very easy.

Roger was terrific from the first phone call. He diagnosed the issue, and came up with a good solution. Someone else (a friend) had already tried to fix it, and Roger was very diplomatic in not hurting the person's feelings, but taking the opportunity to teach why the previous solution was wrong. Price was reasonable for the work, and he did a great job. Good communication. Roger will now be my go-to electrician!

lRoger recognized the emergency- came by to see what was needed- and came the next day with everything on his truck-his 2 sons also came in their truck-and they fixed everything- corrected a previous dangerous connection- and installed a new GFI that I wanted in-stalled. Next, they made notes on what I want them to do in the future--out in my raised garden and back porch. All three know everything about electrical work and are extremely pleasant to have around. They actually did 5 different things--and did not charge for the time spent outside in gathering estimate facts. Thanks to Angies's list , and reccomendations, I have found an excellent electrical team.

We had to make the call early morning, the day after Christmas, not sure if anyone would really show up, but Roger arrived in the afternoon as he said he would. He is very knowledgeable and very polite. He did not charge us for these services, saying that they were complimentary, and he wished us a Merry Christmas. We have other electrical issues with our home, and we certainly hope that Day Star Service Co. will be able to correct them. Roger is working on an estimate to hopefully soon start on some of the more immediate problems.

Day Star Service came out the same day I called them to install a timer for an outside light fixture. They also reconnected a light switch for another light. Roger Larriva called me to update me on the time he would be able to arrive at my home. He and his son were polite and professional. I appreciated that they were able to come out the same day.

Due to a second power outage in half the house within a week we called Day Star Service who turned up right on time the following day. The father son team listened to the description of the problem and then proceeded to eliminate all possible causes until they located a serious fault with the power cable connection to the main power line. In the process they checked and corrected various minor 'faults' but were not satisfied that any of them were the main reason for a power outage to only half the house. Their persistence was fantastic. Once they had identified the real issue the team then proceeded to explain possible solutions and eventual costs. They then offered to phone the power company to explain the problem with the intent of persuading them that it was their responsibilty to remidy the power outage. Two days later we have a brand new power line and connection ... and no more outages! Day Star made several calls and emails to keep us informed of progress, checking in with the power company and a final call to verify all was well. This service goes far beyond any that is to be expected and carried out with a huge smile and great humor. Thank you!
