Ms. Pool-Bak told us that our bathroom remodeling project would take 4 weeks to complete. After the original bathroom was demolished, days and weeks went by with no workers at our house. Despite repeated requests, we were never given a schedule of when workers would be at our house, and the project was still not finished after 20 weeks. Ms. Pool-Bak s construction design was poor, and created problems she either did not know how to correct or was unwilling to correct. She built a bay window incorrectly, tore it out, then rebuilt it with three windows that did not match each other in it. Tile instillation was so sloppy we had to repeatedly ask that tiles be removed and replaced. We requested that the incompetent tile man be removed from the job and replaced. He continued on the job until we refused to let him in our house. His tile instillation was subsequently evaluated by two other professionals from the construction industry as substandard, amateurish and unacceptable. In every instance, Ms. Pool-Bak accepted poor workmanship from her subcontractors, and attempted to fix only the things we complained about. When the solution to a problem was obvious (for example, installing matching windows at our expense or floating an uneven backsplash out from a wall) she still would not do it. Instead she offered solutions to disguise problems or whatever solution required the least effort from her subcontractors. When she tried her solutions, they were substandard and unacceptable. After 20 weeks of our 4 week project, and still never knowing when anyone would show up to work on our bathroom, we hired an attorney to sever our relationship with Ms Pool-Bak. Her work was so poor we had to have virtually everything she did in our unfinished bathroom removed. We also had to have her electrical wiring redone, install a lentil above a window she put in a weight-bearing adobe wall, and correct the instillation of another window she installed. Other problems she created will remain because we cannot afford to correct them. We lost the $12,000 we paid her, $3,000 in attorney fees, and are now paying to have the entire bathroom redone correctly.
Description of Work: We hired Sharmin Pool Bak of Complete Dimensions to remodel our master bathroom. Her plan included gutting the original bathroom; moving the bathtub; moving and enlarging a window; new tub, toilet, vanity, lights and mirror; instillation of a heated floor; and new tile on the floor, walls and backsplash. She also built a bay window on the exterior wall of the bathroom that was supposed to have the enlarged window in the middle and two matching small windows on either side of it.
