I'm very wary and have concerns with anything electronic or that has a outside connection in my home due to hacking, etc.and his pitch started to sound to good to be true. He confirmed my suspicions when he started taking off his shoes and stating he needed to come inside my home to get a look at my entire system. I suddenly felt like this wasn't on the up and up despite his consistent behavior and well groomed appearance. I told him to slow down and asked why he needed to come inside my home. He had a decent explanation and I almost relented when he started taking his shoes off again and stated and quot;So let me get there and check out your systemand quot;. I told him I wasn't comfortable with anyone not associated with my alarm company looking at my system's inner-workings and that he could be anyone. I asked if he had any identification to confirm his identity, he gave me his card and stated he was sub contractor of GE who manufactured my alarm company's hardware and told me to call the # or check online. I was about to tell him I'd think about it when he stated a 3rd time and quot;Okay well let's get a look at your system!and quot; and started to push his way in- With red flags abound, I put my foot on the door and told him he was not going to enter my home. His rebuttal was chalk full of wisdom about how he would be saving me time when he returned after I had checked him out and found out what a great deal it was for me. This was said with a king sized amount incredulity. At this point I was not only completely uncomfortable but beginning to get angry. I politely told him I WOULD check him out and IF I decided to take him up on his offer that I would contact him. My mother and wife were in the my family room and after I explained everything we all decided something was definitely not right about the whole thing. I have since researched this company to find out that this entire thing is scam by another alarm company under the guise of an and quot;upgradeand quot;. They actually cost more than my current alarm company per month and they pin you to an insane contract period. As for that upgraded equipment that's supposed to be free? You end up paying for it in the additional upgrades they try and up-sell you. Typical bait and switch - your current alarm system for theirs. No thanks. My alarm company has been very good to me for many years and not once have they tried to pull a fast one like this company. So if you see a Capital Connect guy on your door - don't answer.
Description of Work: Their salesman Kris King came to the door saying he was here because he saw our alarm system sign and was working on upgrading similar systems in the area. He had a solid pitch that sounded legit - at first. He was very persistent about a complete hardware make-over at no cost to us and mentioned how he could provide upgrades that my own security company would not provide - even if I asked. He gave many details about how his product was superior and all the advantages it would provide me and my family. Sounds great right?

It started to sound funny and I told him I was too ill to continue the conversation. After I checked his badge and wrote phone numbers down that he gave us we asked him to leave. I received an alert today from Life-lock that he had run a credit check on me for a loan or purchase without our consent. In addition the local number he gave had a recording stating that they weren't receiving calls. I called Capital Connect and they said the other number he gave us was for an office that had been shut down,. I had ADT come and check our system. They warned us that this may be a scam so others should be aware .Brinks and ADT have been very good to me for many years and promptly sent someone out to check my system.
Description of Work: This salesman Gary came to the door saying he was here because he saw our Brinks Alarm system sign and was working on upgrading similar systems in the area. I had just come home from surgery and told him so. Due probably to the anesthetic not having fully worn off, we let him in. He was very persistent and gave us many details about how unprotected we were and that we needed to have a complete hardware make-over at no cost to us.

Installation went well and in reasonable time. Salesman very persistent but I feel we got a good system. Our current system wasn't working because of missing door contacts so it was good to get it activated again. Installation was free with 3 year contract. Monthly cost is about $51.00 per month.
Description of Work: Installed new base station for home alarm system. Repaired existing door/window transmitters. New cell phone base station replaced existing non-cell phone based station. New station has additional features.

Capital Connect's technician came by a while later and removed the old system and installed the Interlogix equipment. He checked all the wired connections which had been installed in an unmonitored system back in the 1980s and made sure they worked with the new system. He didn't finish until about 10:30 p.m. Not his fault, as the sales process did not begin until about dusk and the technician had to finish his previous job first. Even though it was late, he patiently took his time to do the job, answer my questions, and help me decide installation locations. The first time I armed the system, I received a call from Monitronics in Texas verifying that I had ordered it for a three-year contract. Although I responded YES to the above question about whether I would use the provider again (I had no choice other than yes/no), I haven't had the system long enough to really judge the equipment quality or the customer service provided by Monitronics. The jury is out...
Description of Work: Two young men knocked on my door one evening stating they had an upgrade for my alarm system and wanted to know which brand alarm was installed. I didn't know so invited them in to see it. Initially, I thought they were acting on behalf of ADT but gradually understood they were representing a different security company, Capital Connect. The equipment they installed is manufactured by Interlogix and consisted of a control panel and a detector of broken glass. Capital Connect subcontracts the monitoring to Monitronics. The Capital Connect system has a speaker where monitors can listen in when security has been breached and call law enforcement when it sounds like burglars are present rather than trying to reach me by phone. In my previous system the motion detector delivered so many false alarms I stopped activating the system and did not want a motion detector as part of a new system. The broken glass detector should be a more accurate indicator of an intruder. This system with immediate verbal feedback and the broken glass monitor seems like it will prevent false alarm calls to the Sheriff. It cost $99 to install the new equipment with a three year contract at $35.99 a month which is the same as I was paying ADT. Capital Connect had some other features for a higher monthly fee, but I did not need them and would not pay any more for a system than I was already paying which is more than consumer advocates advise. The young salesmen were clean-cut, earnest in their approach, and lucky in their timing as I had a system I did not use and was open to something better.

Eric from Capital Connect came to our home to talk to us about Home Security. Since we had already spoken to other business' about this, we thought it was to expensive and out of our price range. Another issue for us was the other companies wanted to and quot;abandonand quot; the existing system and only install theirs, leaving us to remove the old system and paying for items we didn't need. Capital Connect fees were great and they used what they could of our current system. Within an hour of signing up, the installer, Ben, arrived. He was Professional looking and well groomed and had a GREAT personality. He installed the system and explained THOROUGHLY how to work it. He made us feel like no question was a dumb question. He made sure we understood the new touch key pad and thermostat and explained how the glass breakage sensor worker. His quality of work was beyond good. He left the house in the same condition he found it in. My overall experience is that I would recommend Capital Connect to family and friends. Thanks Eric and Ben for the pleasant experience.
