They are an extremely unethical company. I signed a contract with them in April that they have not honored. I spoke to the owner who refused to refund me my money, so I was forced to file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General. They no showed to their appointment at my house on Thursday, 11/4/21, after I got a confirmation text and email the day before. When I called to find out why, I was told someone had COVID and everyone had to be tested. Both the person I spoke to that day and the owner I spoke to on Monday, 11/8/21 rudely asked me if I wanted someone to come to my house who had COVID. I explained that there was no reason I couldn't have gotten an email or a text letting me know the appointment was cancelled, just like I had gotten an email and text the day before confirming the appointment. Neither the person I spoke to on Thursday, 11/4/21, or the owner I spoke to on Monday, 11/8/21, could provide an explanation of why I could not receive a call or a text letting me know the appointment had been cancelled. Instead I took that Thursday morning off work and waited all morning until it was past my appointment window, and then called to find out what was going on. It's no wonder the person I spoke to on Thursday, 11/4/21 was unhelpful, as the owner I spoke to on Monday, 11/8/21 was also unhelpful. He just wants to take your money and doesn't care about providing decent service. The owner also lied and said I have received service on this contract which is 100% not true. I signed the contract after my Spring service in April, and this would have been my first time receiving service on this contract. The owner told me to find a company that better fits my needs, but is refusing to give me my money back, so he is refusing to honor the contract. A company that "better fits my needs" would be one that actually honors a contract and does not breach it, and that is clearly not Breezeways. It's very telling that almost all the recent reviews for Breezeways are bad, it shows how unprofessional and unethical they are. However, they messed with the wrong person because I am going to hold them accountable and make sure I get my money back. Fool around and find out, Breezeways.

BreezeWays General Manager tested positive for Corona Virus on the [Member Information Removed] of Nov 3. In an abundance of caution BreezeWays shut down all operations on Nov 4 and no employees were allowed to come to work or go to customers homes until they tested negative for Corona Virus four days after exposure to our General Manager. As a result we had customers on Nov 4 that were not notified of the emergency situation. All our customers, except Mrs. [Member Name Removed], understood and thanked us for taking the safety measures we did and we rescheduled them for their needed service visits. Mrs. [Member Name Removed], on the other hand, showed no sympathy for the unavoidable situation nor expressed any concern for the affected employee. We apologized for the inconvenience and offered to reschedule her visit - she refused. BreezeWays strongly feels it took the correct steps to mitigate any further spread of the Corona Virus and is sorry for any inconvenience to our customers. BreezeWays remains committed to meeting the terms of all its service contracts.

Beware of Deceitful and Unethical Business Practices Last July, my AC suddenly started behaving badly – with intermittent failures. I first noticed it on a Thursday evening, I called Breezeways on Friday morning, and they sent a technician out on Friday evening. I appreciated their prompt service, but when the technician arrived, he was unable to determine the exact source of the failure. He acknowledged that he was a new employee to this company and new to the HVAC industry, which is why he called his manager to get his advice. After speaking with his manager, the technician recommended that he clean the condenser coil. He said this would typically be an expensive cleaning, but they were willing to make me a deal: $250 for the condenser cleaning, if I purchased a 3 year service warranty for $600, for a total charge of $850. He indicated that the cleaning was 95% likely to solve my intermittent AC failure. I agreed to this and the technician cleaned the condenser coils and then departed. NOTE that they did not provide any documentation and I did not sign any invoice or receipt for service. The next day, the AC unit again failed and I called Breezeways. This time they sent their supervisor out, and he was also unable to determine the root cause of the problem. When he was at my house, the AC unit was working, and he could not find root cause of the problem. He departed. Day three – Sunday – the AC unit again failed, I called Breezeways and they sent the supervisor back out again. This time he did more research, took more measurements, and determined that the interior windings were failing. He informed me that because the AC unit had exceeded its life expectancy (it was 16 years old), I would need to replace the entire unit. I expressed my frustration that I had paid for a cleaning and warranty on a unit that was 16 years old. The supervisor apologized for the previous technician and again indicated that particular technician was new to the company and to the HVAC industry, and he “probably shouldn’t have sold me an unnecessary cleaning.” He said that if I purchased a new AC unit from Breezeways, they would give me a 100% credit for my previous $850 payment. I then got a second and third opinion about the AC failure (which was confirmed), and I solicited five estimates for a new AC unit. I found that the Breezeways estimates for a new AC unit were $3000+ higher than any other company for the same types of units – same size and quality. I then purchased a new AC unit with another local company. I then contacted Breezeways in August, for documentation regarding the 3 year service warranty I had purchased. Their office manager sent me a receipt that indicated I had paid $725 for a condenser cleaning, along with a $125 service visit. This was absolutely incorrect, and I immediately called her to clarify the situation, explaining that I had purchased a 3 year warranty, along with the coil cleaning. I naively assumed this was an honest mistake and I encouraged her to speak with the original technician to clarify what has been verbally sold to me. I also pointed out that the receipt she sent me was signed with the initials “SD” – but my initials are “NM.” She said she would research this and she would call me back. She never called me back. I then called the supervisor to explain the situation and after discussing this with him, he said he would support a 50% refund of my $850 payment. He believed this was a reasonable resolution to this situation. He indicated the office manager would need to process the refund. So I called the office manager again. She said she’d have to speak with the owner because he was the only person who could process the refund for me and she’d talk with him to process the refund. However I never heard back from her. I called the office manager probably two dozen times over two months and she never returned my calls and never processed the partial refund. She also never provided documentation regarding the 3 year service warranty I was sold. After three months of unsuccessful communication with Breezeways, I reached out to the Better Business Bureau, but they were unable to intervene and the dispute remains unresolved through them. I then met with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, but they are unable to resolve disputes when payment has already been made. I have now consulted a lawyer and I will be pursuing a dispute with Breezeways in small claims court. The cause for my dispute is very clear: 1. Breezeways sold me a coil cleaning that was unnecessary and unrelated to the cause of my AC failures. I paid them $850 for service, but they did not do anything that resolved the AC failure. 2. Breezeways verbally sold me a 3 year service warranty, but did not provide me any documentation or receipts at the time of service. 3. When I reached out to Breezeways one month after the service, requesting documentation for the service warranty, they provided a receipt that was entirely different from what was communicated to me. They have been unable to provide any receipts or documentation actually signed by me. 4. Breezeways clearly overcharged me on the initial visit with an unnecessary cleaning, hoping to “hook me” into purchasing a new AC unit through them. 5. My sincere and honest attempts to resolve this situation directly with Breezeways over three months were met with silence from their owner and office manager. Not once in three months did anyone return my phone calls. I have never written a negative online review before, but I truly believe this company has demonstrated deceitful and unethical business practices and I would strongly urge you to seek out service from any other AC company in Tucson. I have acted in good faith to resolve this dispute with Breezeways and have so far been unable to resolve this. I strongly warn you against working with Breezeways.

I have been a customer of Breezeways Air Conditioning & Heating for eleven years, since I purchased my Trane Heat Pump from them with an extended ten year warranty (parts & labor) included. After that warranty ended, on 8/18/2020 I entered into a maintenance agreement with them for three years at a cost of $660.00. The agreement form which was dated 7/6/2020 was confirmed by them as a “binding contract” with their 8/18/2020 email, and did not require signature or made any reference to the fee as being non-refundable. Once they received my payment on 8/18/2020, however, they issued another agreement stating that the fee is “non-refundable”! On December 14, 2020 a new technician came to conduct the very first service. He climbed to my roof where the unit is located and after a few short minutes, he came with some pictures of the Heat Pump’s exterior which were of no substance and gave me an estimate of $1,000.00 for required repairs covering replacement of the Condenser Motor and for injecting the HVAC Unit with A/C Renew. Because of the very short time this man stayed on the roof, during which he could not possibly have performed any of the eleven tasks listed in our agreement (i.e. checking the air flow, filter, safety controls, etc.), I called BreezeWays office to complain and requested that they send an experienced technician to perform these required functions. Unfortunately, there was no satisfactory response and I decided to call another recommended Air Conditioning & Heating Co. to conduct an independent diagnosis of the unit without letting them know of what transpired earlier. Two of their technicians, with 20 years of experience on Heat Pumps, came and worked for 45 minutes. At the end, they concluded that there was nothing wrong with my unit; it was working normally and there was no need to replace the Condenser Motor or to inject the HVAC with any Renew! In view of the above revelation and the overall unprofessional service I received from BreezeWays, I sent them a letter on 12/23/2020 stating that I now consider our agreement terminated for not fulfilling their obligations and requested reimbursement of my maintenance fee. Regrettably, they never responded and I had to submit my complain to BBB. BreezeWays continued to be stonewalling by incorrectly referring to their second agreement as a binding contract and making bogus claims. At the end, they offered to reimburse me only a small fraction of the fee, which was totally unacceptable. SO, BEWARE OF THEIR DECEIVING PRACTICE!

I have been a customer for the past for years. Breezeway has provided annual maintenance for the HVAC system. I purchased a new air conditioning unit in 2017. The first unit was defective and they replaced the unit. The repairs and service has been professional and performed by competent technicians until yesterday. The technician lied about calling me, made no attempt to ring the doorbell or knock. I have a large dog that is very alert to anything coming close to our home and has a very loud bark. I did Take out my trash to the garbage can in my back yard but I would have heard my doorbell and my cell phone would have notified me of a missed call. The technician did return two hours after the 9 to 1 timeframe. I had a teleconference and was not able to accompany the technician but my husband did. The technician recommended throwing away our electrostatic washable filter and replacing with a paper filter. I called to speak with the technician and ask for an explanation, “ there are too many holes and the coils will be damaged.” The holes he was referring to is the expanded aluminum grate holding the MERV 9 filter in the frame. When I complained, no one called me back.

David, the Sales Rep, was great. I was sold by his in-depth knowledge and thorough explanations, even though he quoted higher than 3 other companies. Two Installers arrived late 45 min. because they had to get a part, but they worked steadily. The primary Installer was very capable and never stopped working the whole time they were here. He also discussed options and explained things as the job progressed. It did go slower than normal because the second man was a Trainee. Both were very courteous. They finished much later than promised during the day, which caused a problem for me. Later I had questions about operating the thermostat, and Zac, the Manager, came to explain its programming options. He also looked over the installation work inside and on the roof, to be sure everything was working correctly. Very professional attitude.

Junior was the second serviceman to look at my unit, the other guy from a different company was confounded and just said it needed to be replaced (it's also a real pain to get to the air handler unit in a small cabinet accessed by ladder). After listening to my information and giving an overview of options, Junior resolved the first issue - bad connection - and then, after detailing cost, recharged my unit (with the old refrigerant which is now pretty expensive) and took measurements to replace my drip pan. Reasonable price.

I'm happy with the results at both locations - my house and the property I'm renovating.
Description of Work: BreezeWays has a maintenance contract on my house; when a switch failed and it wouldn't heat, they came and fixed it right away. The part was free, but the labor was past the warranty date so I had to pay for that. On a property I'm renovating, a persistent roof leak was determined to be under the rooftop HVAC unit. BreezeWays brought a crane in to remove the HVAC unit so the roof could be repaired, and then they replaced and reconnected the unit. A pricey job, but it was well done and they came when they said they would.

The technician said the reversing valve had failed in the heat position. He then said he would have to replace the reversing valve and I would lose the 17 lbs. of freon. So, he quoted me new reversing valve, labor, and 17 lbs. of freon at $200./lb a price range of $4000 to $5000. to repair. In June I had given Breezeway $700. for a service contract for 3 years to come out twice a year for preventative maintenance. This would not cover the above est. of 4 to $5000. just quoted. I informed the technician that I would get my home warranty co to give me a second opinion. They came out and did a much more thorough diagnosis and reconnected a wire that had become disconnected and charged me $45.00 to fix my air conditioning unit! $45.00, I repeat, $45.00. I called Breezeway several times to cancel my $700.00 service contract and today the 26th of July they informed me that they would not refund my $700.00. Needless to say, I told them I was unable to trust them with future service, but they will not refund my money. This company is not professional, unethical, and sleazy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!!

Response from BreezeWays Air Conditioning and Heating
Upon review of the customer'[Member Information Removed] complaint BreezeWays determined our technician did nothing wrong. The customer has an old unit that uses R-22 Refrigerant - which is no longer allowed in new A/C Systems. The R-22 Refrigerant is very expensive and the unit did test low on that refrigerant. As the customer stated he does have Home Warranty Insurance - it is in their best interest to repair a unit with minimal cost - so their technician did the least needed to keep the unit running. We believe this is not in the best interest of our customer and he will likely require many more visits from his home warranty company. We are sorry the customer felt he had a poor experience, but to the best of our determination our company and technician was ethical and honest in its repair recommendations.

Oh no they did okay they came out and clean air conditioner. The guy came out he said my air conditioner needs to be cleaned and that the cleaning that it needs is not included in the ninety nine dollars so anyway he came out take a look at it and he said I need to pay two hundred dollars more and that he needs to use some cleaning solution to get the stuff out. The ninety nine deal was suppose to be a $350 value.

Hi [Member Name Removed], I’m sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Our service technicians make recommendations based on their expertise, and do not receive any commissions for new unit sales. In your case, we recommended a new system because when your old system does eventually break down the repair cost will be high (due to rarer parts) and additional break downs will be frequent (due to the unit being past its useful life). I know sometimes recommendations like this can appear to be a pure sales pitch, and I apologize if it came off that way. We always respect the homeowner’s decision and believe that the homeowner will make the best decision for themselves given the relevant details. Please contact me directly if you have additional concerns and comments. Mike Patterson General Manager mike@breezewaysac.com

I had several companies out here to finally determine which would be the best one. They all say I need a heat pump. They came and they did their job and then left. They recommended a new system but I called them to give me bids for a new system but they never called me back. The men who came out here, they did what they had to do but I can't really put a grade on them because the following company said something totally different. They said two different things about the system. They came, went on the roof, they came down and they told me I need a new system and then another company came and they did the same thing but for different reasons I needed a new system. I think they were knowledgeable. They came out right away. They were here on time. They were okay. I probably would not use them again because I'm going be done on my home insurance. Just responding to how much, I called to ask for a bid and they said that there was a miscommunication and they didn't get back to me.
