Sometime in mid-November 2013, I called Bix to schedule a pickup of an antique dining table for repairs. Jeff returned my call and the pickup date was scheduled for 25 November at around 10am. On that date, at around 11am, I called to get an update as to when Jeff would arrive as he had not shown up yet, the young man that answer the phone said he would have to call Jeff and find out why he had not arrived. He called me back and informed me that Jeff had tried to get through the security gate for my community and could not. While they had my phone number, no one called me to see about getting through the community gate. Granted, from that conversation I found out that my name had been removed from the gate directory and have since corrected that with HOA....but still, would expect to have been called. Anyway, I was informed by the young man that answers the phone that Jeff was already headed back to the shop and that I would have to reschedule my furniture pickup. So I began calling several times a day and leaving messages with the young man for Jeff to call me back and reschedule a pickup. I guess my bad, as from one of those conversations with the young man (as Jeff never returned phone calls), I thought that I was rescheduled for 2 Dec. When that day arrived, I again called as the morning progressed and Jeff did not arrive.....I was informed that I misunderstood and that I was not scheduled, and would need to talk directly with Jeff to get scheduled. So I proceeded to again call several times a day and leave messages both with the young man and on the answering machine. My calls have not been returned, therefore I have to assume that for whatever reason Jeff/Bix does not want my business. Bix came highly recommended to me as the only people I should trust with my antique table, so I really wanted them to work on it given the sentimental attachment to the table and the recommendation from someone I trust as well as the pictures on Bix website of work on other antique furniture.

This is the second time we used BIX to strip and refinish some of our teak furniture. Over the years (approximately 30) both pieces had suffered water stains and in the case of the dining room table top, severe water damage (a water leak from a Christmas plant was hidden for more than a week). We took the dining room table in and they did a remarkable job of restoring it to its original condition. Recently we took the coffee table in and had the same excellent workmanship performed. We dropped of the pieces and within a day or two got a call with an estimate on the work. Each estimate was very reasonable and was the final cost when we picked up the furniture. Jeff and Paul do excellent work, are very professional and quick and efficient in their work. We will definitely return (one more piece needs work).
Description of Work: They stripped, smoothed and refinished a teak dining room table top and a teak coffee table (on our second visit).

I took the nightstand to Bix and chest of drawers to another refinisher to compare service and work. Bix kept me up to date on the status as well as really educated me on what patina is, the refinishing process and after home care. I was surprised by the timeliness, quality and friendliness. The owner Jeff loves the back story of pieces. The process was an and quot;experienceand quot; and made me feel like my family pieces were as special to them as to me. I was amazed by the life in the patina I had never seen. When I went to the other refinisher, they were grumpy and dismissive and had not even started on my chest of drawer. Obviously, I retrieved it and took it to Bix. It's comforting to know that, in this throw away society of particle board, there is appreciation of old wood that can be passed from generation to generation .
Description of Work: Family pieces: refinished & replaced missing carved piece on burled mahogany marble topped nightstand from late 1800's, refinished mahogany dining table chair from 1920's, and mahogany chest of drawers from the 1940s.

Excellent. The work was done within the estimates for both cost and schedule. Jeff and Paul are at the top of their profession.
Description of Work: Ours was a fairly unique situation. We have a number of handmade pieces of furniture from Austria, which were in need of refurbishment. These were personalized for our family, with various carvings and designs which made them not priceless, but certainly irreplaceable. Included was an intricately carved Tirolean pine chest which is truly amazing in its detail. After seeing Bix featured in an article appearing in the Sunday edition of the Arizona Daily Star, we decided to contact Bix and request their assistance. We could not be more pleased with the results. Our furniture has been professionally restored, and in some cases the stability was reinforced, making the integrity of the piece superior to the original condition. Our chest is once again a magnificent family heirloom. Jeff Foote and his partner Paul Moore are true craftsmen, whose pride in their work is evident in the results. They are responsive, timely, and they kept us informed as they moved through the project. Outstanding.
