B.C. Installations

On initiial contact Mr. Cheatham said he charged $220/door and he would give me a multiple door discount for $170/door. He said it would take him all day from 8:30am until dark or around 6:00pm. He explained he was professional and wouldn't rush so he may have to return a 2nd day to finish with trim etc. The following day he came out to see the job and stated that the door jambs were standard sizes so no jamb extentions would be required. He also stated he would need 3 tubes of sealant at $5@ so the bill would be $525 instead of $510. He arrived on Monday at 8:20am with an assistant. After installing the first and second door he informed me and my son that the doors needed door jamb extentions and it would be $5/door. My son offered to buy him and his assitant lunch instead and Mr. Cheatham agreed. Later on Mr. Cheatham was getting ready to load the old doors into his truck. I told Mr. cheatham that I was keeping the old doors. He then stated that he planned on taking them and that's why he gave me a discount. This was never dicussed, not on the phone or when he came to see the job. The discount was a "multi-door" discount. While he was outside he got a phone call and I heard him making an appt. with another customer for 4:00pm that day. He said it would take him all day to do my job so I was very surprised about this. I never checked the doors before Mr. Cheatham left, he was articulate, intelligent, well groomed and appeared to be very trustworthy. Several days later I had a tile man replacing tile in front of the doors and he noticed one of the doors was not staying closed. He also stated the he believed if door jamb extentions had been used the the concrete subfloor would not be exposed by 1 inch.. I texted Mr. Cheatham on Sunday night one week after installing the doors but got no response. I called on Monday morning and left a message and still no response. I called again Monday evening and he called back but the call dropped or he hung up because the call only lasted 20secs. I felt very frustrated and called Mr. Cheatham on Tues. and told him that he needed to call me back on that day or I would get an ROC contractor to come and fix the doors then I would have to take him to small claims. He texted me back immediately with "don't call my phone and threaten me with a good time". I'm not sure what he was talking about. He showed up that evening to do the repair with a pistol on his hip which was very intimmidating. He would not look at me or acknowledge me. He stormed off mad saying the "Reveal was perfect" He later texted my son and told him that he would not deal with me anymore but would make a simple adjustment to fix the "reveal". I hired a ROC licensed contractor to look at the doors. His name was Rick from Open Enclose. Rick said the Reveal was off and that the door was not as true as it could be. I had Rick look at the other doors and he informed me that none of the doors had door jamb extentions installed that's why I had to pay for tile work to fix the gap Mr. Cheatham left when he agreed to install the extentions in exchange for lunch. I feel that Mr. Cheatham lied to me from the beginning and ripped me off on the door jamb extentions. He did a good job on two of the doors but messed up the last one. I would never hire him again or refer him to anyone.
