THE TECH WAS VERY EASY TO TALK WITH AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS IN A PROMPT AND POLITE MANNER!!

Called for an estimate for getting new A/c; after inspecting the house, the guy said we would need some electrical work (which he did not do), because we only had 1 circuit breaker location open and he couldn't draw enough power. He said it would cost $1800-2000 just for upgrading the electrical box. His estimate on the A/C install was over $6,000. We called another A/C company and this guy said he could install an extra panel on our electric box (but that we had plenty of juice) INCLUDED in his estimate for A/C install of $3900. Obviously the guy from B&J was either clueless or blowing smoke.

All went well. i was not sure they did furnaces until I looked at their card they left me after doing the swamp cooler. All 4 times no surprises, all was great.

Our package heat pump died, and after frustrations with another company that we'd had a service contract with for a decade, I joined Angies list and found B&J. I called after-hours Wed and Kurt arrived Thursday morning, provided a range of options and clear quotes, and we chose a high-end American Standard unit. They also offered us a nice Rheem unit, but we liked the quality and features (two-stage compressor) better. It was installed on Friday, and has been working wonderfully. The unit is quiet and puts out warmer heat than the old unit ever did. I asked the to return to check on a vibration, and they did so promptly and it is now super quiet. I'm very happy with the customer service and the installation quality.

I was away from home during the summer and returned and called them again for my thermostat problems 12/14/11. They performed unsatisfactorially and eventually refunded my money for that visit. It wasn't until Jan 26th, 2013 when I called ACS and had them check my units that I discovered that the work done by B and J on 1/6/11 was for naught. It did not accomplish what I thought was intended. I still have the same problem that I had before they did the work. I spend most of the hot months away from Tucson, so I will hope that my AC does not cause my ceiling to fall as was predicted by B and J, if I didn't have the work done.

.Required two calls to fix all the problems

B&J replaced a 22 year old packaged air conditioner and gas furnace with a new American Standard 2.5 ton 14.2 SEER unit. This packaged unit was located on the flat roof and required a crane to remove the old unit and place the new unit. The contract with B&J included new redwood sleepers and vibration pads under the unit, new duct work to connect the unit to the existing duct work, new electrical connections (including a surge protector), new gas connection, new condensate drain, and all miscellaneous installation items. In addition, the contract included disposal of the old unit. B&J was selected as a bidder based on Angie's List reviews and experience with B&J servicing the old unit. The proposal phase went quickly and well. A detailed calculation was done to determine the right size unit (the old unit was a 3 ton AC). As part of the proposal process all the equipment and work included in the proposal were explained by Kurt the B&J representative. Only necessary items were included in the proposal. Other bidders seemed to make a little too much effort pitching additional items that were useful but not necessary. Of the contractors who submitted proposals, B&J offered the lowest price. Installation was done as scheduled and completed in less than one day. The technician (Dean) was professional and well organized. After completing the installation, the heating and cooling functions were tested. All the work was completed as contracted including the City of Tucson permit and inspection. The City inspection passed without any concerns

We read the reviews and the $40 off coupon. The diagnostic quote was $85 with a $40 drive charge before they even looked at anything. The coupon was only good if you spent more than $200 repair. It seem usurious. We did not hire them

Estimator was prompt and answered detailed questions in satisfactory manner. Installer was prompt and did a nice work. All were well trained and did good honest work while being priced fairly. The power surge protector and the refrigerant sight glass are both must haves for a quality and durable installation.

When we decided on a roofing company to make the roof repair, B&J coordinated with the roofers so that there was little downtime on the job. They arrived promptly when they said they would in the morning and returned as soon as the roofers were done. They communicated with us about what was happening and returned the next day to finish up some small details.

The service and repairs as I have described were done as fast and as good as I could have hoped.

Everything went very smoothly. Kurt came out initially to give me an estimate. During our discussion, I learned that American Standard is basically the same as the higher priced Trane system -- just marketed to the residential customer. That immediately saved me more than $2000. I had also researched units through Consumer Reports and learned that Goodman, Rheem and Lennox systems are more prone to pump repairs. I also learned that a 2-stage system is more expensive, but according to all the research I had done,(which was confirmed by Kurt) it gives a more consistent coolness. B&J only has a one year no-interest finance program, so I ended up getting my own financing. I felt I was given extensive and helpful information, but was never pushed to make a commitment, and never harassed by phone calls; although when I did call with questions, if I had to leave a message, I always received a prompt response. My installation team, Dean and Jason, arrived bright and early. They were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They took time to explain the different steps of the process, and checked with me several time to be sure I was in agreement with the installation options. Once the system was on, the operation of both the cooling and heating was tested. I immediately noticed that all corners of the rooms were now receiving the cooled air, whereas before I had only felt the cooling when I was closest to the vents. During the first night with this system, I never woke up wondering if the AC was broken because the house had gotten so warm - what a difference! I would have to say that I now have the "cadillac" of systems that was installed by the "cadillac" refrigeration company of B&J.

Yvonne made an appointment for about 3 hours out. She called back within a half hour to say she had Jason on the way. Jason called in when he was 15 minutes away to let me know how long till he would arrive.Jason openly listened to my concerns about what had been done and what was going on. He then went to the roof and diagnosed the problem. What a relieve when it was just fuses and capacitor and not a major failure. He quoted the one hour service charge plus whatever the parts would be. GREAT! Jason completed the job with parts he had in stock on his truck .He also took care of my drain pipe concern under my service call labor. He was done in one hour. My experience with B & J Refrigeration lasted just over 2 and a half hours from first call to cold A/C . FANTASTIC!

The night of July 18, 2012, my husband & I noticed our air conditioner was not working. It was blowing out air, but the air was not cold. I checked Angie's List for reviews/coupons & decided on B&J Refrigeration. We called them the next morning (July 19th), & set up an appointment for the following day (July 20th). They were supposed to arrive between 1:00PM-5:00PM; we got a call at 12:51PM that they were on their way to our house. Jason showed up, looked at our air conditioner, found & replaced 2 bad parts, & had our air working again by 2:30PM! Even better it only came to $178.98 after the Angie's List $40 off coupon! Jason was nice & was able to fix our A/C right away for a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend this company.

They were very professional. They were very thoughtful and considerate. They let me know when they could come out. They were timely. The representative explained clearly what they are going to do. They did the entire job in a timely fashion.

Curtis and Brandon arrived on time and were polite in their manner. Prior to the appointment, we spoke over the phone about the possible scenarios that might happen - giving a low and high figure to help us understand what could be involved. This gave us enough information to allow us to prepare for the visit - moving objects for better access to the unit to be cleaned, for instance. Once they accessed the unit, they were prompt about doing their work and acquiring supplies. They were prepared to have the work progress with minimum delays.Overall, this was a pleasant experience in home maintenance and repair.

I called B & J because when I went to change over from evaporative cooling to AC, I found that my AC unit was blowing warm air. I expected to have to wait a day or two, but they were able to fit me into their schedule on the same day, and were even willing to give me a half-hour warning call so that I could leave work and get home without extra wasted time. VERY helpful. The technician was on time, efficient and thorough. He was happy to explain to me exactly what had gone wrong, why the coolant was so expensive, and what my options would be in the future, as well as giving me some good information on my AC unit in terms of expected lifespan and how it compares to others, quality-wise. His cost estimate was right on. All in all, he got my AC running right and finished up the job quickly, getting me back to work much sooner than I'd expected. My only frustration with the experience is that I was unable to use the coupon that B & J offers to Angie's List subscribers, because I could not print it out. That's disappointing-- seems to me that they should not assume that everyone has immediate access to a printer. If they really need the printed copy, it would be nice if they were at least willing to honor it after the fact. (I know it's only $40, but every bit counts when you're suddenly facing a large and unexpected outlay of cash!) ***UPDATE*** Just received a check in the mail for the amount of the coupon. Many thanks! I really appreciate such a quick, proactive response. This company clearly cares about their customers' satisfaction!

Called BJ Refrigeration for second opinion on a/c problem. They were able to send out a technician to look at problem and call me back that same day. Nick was very professional and assessed the problem to the extent that it made more sense to me than the previous company that looked at it. He gave me an estimate of the cost and time needed and explained that it would take two techs to get job done. I authorized him to go ahead and paid my deposit. Unfortunately, on the following workday, Nick came out and had to install the entire job by himself. He did a great job, even though it took him about 7 hours. He kept the work area clean and overall was very professional. I was very satisfied and highly recommend them.
