Assurance Builders, Inc

Generally I don't like to give bad reviews, but in this case I feel others should be warned by my experience. Assurance had been recommended by a craftsman who has done beautiful work for me, and who has seen their work. I scheduled a time for them to do an estimate on replacing five large windows in my dining room (it took a second phone call when they didn't call me back as promised). This was one of four estimates. The other three listed in detail the cost, manufacturer and type of windows to be installed, as well as the cost, materials and labor to redo the wooden framing. The estimate from Assurance was both vague (glass materials @ $2775) and open ended, with a statement that if the labor exceeded the 64 hours budgeted, additional hours would be charged at $65 per hour. I asked for a more specific estimate, scheduled another appointment with their estimator, who came and promised a new, detailed one within the week. After a week went by, I received a call saying that the estimator had been ill, but would be getting back to me with the estimate. i never heard from them again. A waste of my time and theirs. Their price was similar to quotes from others (hence the B rating), however, I have no way to know what the final price would have been.

John and his staff are very nice when you meet and speak to them but there is no followthrough. It takes forever for them to respond and take measurements; they never sent a quote no matter how many times I called and John promised. Seems he was always working on it and getting ready to put it in the mail.

It went very well. There service man was very knowledgeable about Pella doors. In some cases he was more knowledgeable than the factory Pella Service techs and he fixed one issues that they did not.

The Assurance crew totally renovated our bathroom. They were professional, protected the adjoining areas, finished the installation on time and at the agreed on price. This was the second bathroom they did for us and we would use them again for another remodel. | | |

We never received their bid (or a decline-to-bid), despite several emails and responses. I wanted Marvin windows vs the Pella windows that Assurance normally uses, but that shouldn't have been a deal-breaker (or, they should have let me know). We eventually used another contractor. They were highly recommended by several local window/door mfrs; I'd consider giving them another try since we were only out some time.

set appt on 6/11 for bid on front porch. to have bid by 6/14/13. I phoned office on 6/17, left mess. Called again on 6/20, spoke to office girl. She said definite call back that day. No call. Did not call and say job to small, to busy, just ignored me. He a Rosie on the house referral. I would not recommend this company or employees to any one.

They seemed professional on the phone, but because we sat around waiting for them to call us back, I would never use them.

Overall, I was quite happy with this company. The quality of work was exceptional. I really appreciated how much attention they paid to the details of the job. The crew was always on time to the job. They were within the time and budget. They were very careful not to damage anything. They are a little bit pricey but the quality of work will make up for that.

Although it has been a number of years since we hired Assurance Builders, our experience with John Reuter, owner of Assurance Builders Inc, was overall a very positive one. John was recommended to us by Pella Doors and Windows when we decided to go forward with the purchase of new Pella patio doors for our living room and master bedroom. We found John very easy to work with; he was professional, easy to get hold and performed quality work. The delivery and installation of all the doors occurred as planned. The only problems we encountered were not with John or Assurance Builders but related to having ordered a brass handle that had to be back-ordered by Pella but which even months later was never delivered by Pella. A standard handle was installed instead. We had no problems with the purchase, installation and finishing of the exterior steel doors for our shop - all of which were very satisfactorily completed. We would not hesitate in recommending John Reuter and Assurance Builders, Inc.

I spent $4000 on that job. The guys who came out worked really hard to finish up the work in one day rather than having to come back. I got windows that are guaranteed for life, and our house was built in the 50’s. The windows I had were steel and I wanted aluminium, they got it for me and it blends perfectly. They did a great job. Their responsiveness was great. They called me to make sure I had everything. They were always here when they said they would be.

Assurance Builders were recommended by a third party. After ascertaining that Assurance Builders are on the approved list of Pella door and window installers, I ordered a Pella sliding glass patio door (Designer Series). The Reuters were extremely helpful and courteous. Their estimates on delivery were accurate and they were at pains to keep me up to date on delivery and installation dates. Assurance Builders is a very reliable, ethical company and I intend to use their company in the future. I have no reservations about recommending them to others.
