I needed a new roof and hired a local roofer. The one I hired started the job and left my roof open and exposed to the elements. I was upset and desperate to have my new roof completed. On the advise of a friend of a friend I got in touch with Alan Bradley Roofing Co, They came quickly to assess the damage done by the first roofing company. They were able to give me a new roof in a timely manner. The workers were professional and efficient. I was very happy with the roof I received at a reasonable cost. I would definitely recommend Alan Bradley roofing to anyone with any roofing needs. I will continue to use them for maintenance needs on my roof.

Description of Work: "Always photograph your roof before using a roofing company. This company was super nice until $8900 job was finished & paid for. When we found a large section of tile roofing had not been replaced they were no longer nice. They insisted all tile had been replaced. My 80 year old husband had to climb up a ladder, photograph the big empty white space where tile had been & text it to their office manager before anyone would believe us. They replaced the tile saying we would have to pay for ""extra tile"". When we came home after a 5 month absence we found the ceiling in our family room & top of one window was ruined from a leak around a skylight they had replaced while re-roofing the house. Their office assured us, sight unseen, |That it was the fault of the air conditioning. AC Company found that when roofers moved the AC in the roofing process they had cracked the pan underneath AC and it had leaked on to area above the skylight. This was during the 5 months after the re-roofing had been done and we were away.Tucson had unusally torrential rains during the period we were away."

This is the 4th or 5th time we've done business with Alan Bradley, and we will happily do so again. Every aspect of their service has been excellent, and they are consistently professional and pleasant to work with. We called to get an estimate for my father's house (Alan Bradley had installed the roof 5 or so years ago), and we weren't sure if we needed re-coating or a whole new roof. The estimator looked at it and actually recommended the less expensive option of re-coating. When they did the estimate for our own roof in August, they told me that although he could extend the life of my roof for a couple of years by re-coating it, he recommended a full replacement. Which we did. His crews are conscientious about the potential mess that tearing off and replacing a roof can be, and too measures to prevent any messes that might remain after they left. The result was excellent, and almost no evidence of them being here. These guys are good, and honest, and professional. I heartily recommend them if you are looking for re-coating or an new roof system. They may not be the cheapest bid you get, but they use quality products and experienced workers to get a result that is worth the cost.
Description of Work: Re-coat the roof of my father's house. In October of 2014, the same company installed a new built-up roof with foam insulation, and white Elastek coating.

Everything was handled very professionally. Alan came to the house and took pictures of all the roof problems (there were many) and then offered several options for replacement/repair, skylights, improved drainage via lowered scuppers, etc. as well as showing which tiles might need to be replaced. They explained the process very carefully. Carol responded to my subsequent phone calls and emails in a timely manner. The actual roofing crew was wonderful. The work took about three full days with the old roof being removed on the first day, the new roof being installed the second day, and the protective coating being applied about a week later. They cleaned up everything and completed work as per the schedule. There were two follow-up issues (the wrong color of coating was used and one leaky area had not been completely sealed) that were dealt with very quickly at no extra charge to us. While we probably could have had this work done at a slightly lower cost, I feel that the quality of the workmanship/materials and professionalism of Alan, Carol, and their crew were worth the price. I highly recommend Alan Bradley roofing for both repair and replacement projects.
Description of Work: Replaced our (built-up fiberglass) roof, upgraded skylights, replaced broken tiles on the part of the roof that had tiles, and also made structural changes (lowered scuppers, etc.) to facilitate drainage.

More than any other company, they helped me understand the AZ roofing materials and processes used for a flat roof tear-off/replace. They were very quick to respond, always same day or within 24 hours, by phone and email. I also appreciated that their estimate/contract was clearly written with customer interests in mind as well as the roofing company, not seen with any other companies whose vague estimates failed to clearly identify materials, processes, warranty/guarantee information in consumer accessible language. In the end, since there are no current leaks, a repair company assured me that the life of the current roof could be extended with patching over the vulnerable areas and double coating, so I decided to go that route for the interim and replace the roof later. When the time comes to replace the roof, Alan Bradley is the first company I will call.
Description of Work: After being informed by a painting contractor that I needed a new roof, I called Alan for a new roof estimate. He came to the house just a day or two later, examined the roof and wrote an estimate to tear off and replace the 30 yr old flat roof. Communication was excellent. Alan and were very conscientious and accessible for questions about the estimate, which was comparatively a fair price.

We were able to interface with roofers to share what we wanted/needed that was unique to our property--but needed to be present to do that. The management was very responsive to our needs, and directed his team accordingly. A team or workers moved our air conditioning unit, others had wanted us to arrange for that with associated costs. This was included in the estimate. Highly recommend this company.

All in all, a bad experience.
Description of Work: Icalled, got an estimate sent to me. Then a contract and a time. I cleared off my surrounding areas, moved the car, took off work and waited.....and waited...no show. Called the office and was told that the workers had had a "rough week" and wouldn't be coming that day! I suggested that someone might have called me as a courtesy and said for her to call when the workers could come. No return calls. Nothing. I would never call them again.

Response from Alan Bradley Roofing
August was a difficult month to complete roofs as scheduled due to the amount of rain and the increase chance of rain during the month. We were on schedule to do this members roof on August 14th however that morning the chance of rain was too great to tear off their roof. The member called me that morning before I had a chance to call them. Moonsoon season does present challanges in scheduling. It is our policy to treat customers with respect. I appoligize if the weather delay caused them frustration.

Alan Bradley Roofing was very professional and accommodating on all levels throughout the process. The roof was installed in the time limit alotted. The workmanship was excellent. And they were very conscientious about leaving my place clean and free of debris when they were finished. My only complaint was after the job was completed, my A/C guy reinstalled the A/C unit and I was concerned about the job he did and that he may have compromised the roof. I pleaded with Alan Bradley Roofing to send someone out to inspect the area around the A/C unit to give me an opinion on whether the newly installed roof was disturbed. I offered to pay them to do one final inspection. They never sent anyone out or called me back. So that kind of made me feel like once the job was over, they didn't care anymore.
Description of Work: Alan Bradley came out and did an inspection and provided an estimate. Then installed a new roof.

I called and got estimates from three different companies before selecting this one. They were not the cheapest or the quickest to reply but I went strictly by gut reaction to the person doing the estimate. He answered all my questions and seemed to have the knowledge. A letter was sent thanking us for choosing them and introducing workers for the company. They started on time, did a great job of cleaning up and even came in a little under estimate, although I never met any of the people referred to in the letter. We had an issue in re-installing our satellite dish, and the worker from the satellite company said that I should call to see if the warranty on the shingles would remain intact since he was going to have to install new screws. I called Alan Bradley Roofing and was told that they would send someone out to check. I waited a month, called again and was told they still had record of my call but they just hadn't had any work in my area. Another month later I was walking through my neighborhood and saw their trucks working on a house. I called again and was told they thought it had already been taken care of but they would but in a work order again. Needless to say nobody ever showed up. I did get paperwork to fill in and mail away to record the warranty, but I paid Alan Bradley Roofing a lot of money to do the job. THEY were the one that volunteered to come after the dish re-install and did not follow through. I'll probably not need another new roof in my lifetime, but I feel like they planted a seed of doubt and owed me the reassurance that a problem did not exist. They simply did not follow through.

This company was called by my 90 year old grandfather to repair his roof so it would not pond water in specific areas. They charged several hundred dollars extra to eliminate the ponding area. That was in 2007 and my grandpa was too old to check the work. None of the rest of the family even knew he had asked for the extra work. Fast forward to late 2011 and he is selling his place. A sale was pending when a home inspector said it had significant ponding problems in the same area that was supposed to have been fixed. Grandpa's daughter contacted the company and told them of the problem. Unfortunately the warranty had expired a few months earlier but they said they could re-warrant the area for another $2000 which would include repainting the roof with white coating. The buyer was spooked by all this and the sale fell through. Subsequently another roofer was contracted to fix the ponding problem and he did so very expertly for around $3k total. That included bringing in a carpenter to actually raise the ponding area by 5 inches! This is what should have been done in 2007 but was obviously not done properly to eliminate the ponding. The home has now been sold with a superb, non-ponding roof.

excellent experience with this firm. from first contact to last, service was professional, courteous, and helpful--from the office to the estimator to the line crew. all work was done on time and as promised. i had two special issues--removal of the evaporative cooler and inspection of the ceiling insulation. the insulation had, as i had suspected, been left in a disheveled state by a plumbing contractor; it was rearranged and supplemented by AB at material cost only--above the call of duty. fortunately it rained just a few hours after AB completed work and i discovered a leak on the outside of the chimney below the porch roof. AB came back out the next business day and rechecked the chimney area. the leak was not at their new seal but above. although arguably not their responsibility they fixed it anyway. i highly recommend Allen Bradley Roofing.

I called and talked with a woman about water leakage that we had noticed since we moved into our newly purchased house. I told her that I suspected it may have something to do with the attic vents, but that I am in no way an expert on these kinds of things. She told me that Alan would have to come out and diagnose the cause of the leaks. No one ever called me to set up an appointment.

Because during the monsoon season, everyone finds out they have roof leaks at the exact same moment, a bit of a strain is placed on the roofing industry. I try to return all calls in a timely manner. There are periods in July and August that I might fall a bit behind but I will catch up to make sure everyone has had their roofing needs met.

They came right on time. There were no unexpected surprises. They did more than what was expected. They told me that new roof will be more expensive and that was not needed, so they restored the roof for me. They made some recommendations on treating the flashing which I was not aware of. We had that done too. They are very approachable and easy to get hold of. It is easy to get your questions answered by them. I don’t have to wait for call backs. The work they have done is perfect. I don’t have any complaints with them. They were competitive in price. I used them because t hey had a good reputation. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I chose Alan Bradley Roofing based on their long track record. Their proposal came in priced in the middle of the pack. When I spoke to schedule with them, I explained I was flying in from out of state, planning the trip around them. I made certain they were aware that timing of my project was critical. They assured me that they would hold the dates, even if there was rain. They claimed they could tarp the roof if there was rain during the night (common in Tucson in the summer). Once they had secured my business, they waited until the last minute the day prior to the project to explain they were canceling due to the 'weather.' At this point, I had been in Tucson all week and knew first hand that the only rainfall had been many days prior. It was clear they were doing this so they could fit in another customer. I reminded them I was in from out of state. They replied that the other customer was in from another town in Arizona. I was frustrated, but agreed to push back another day. They called the next day, at the very end of the day, when I was preparing for their arrival early the next morning, and canceled again. They asked if I could wait until the next week to accommodate their other customers. I pulled the plug at this point. I have purchased a home that requires a number of upgrades, including the roof. I planned many contractors around Alan Bradley Roofing. They have cost me a significant amount of money and will cost me additional time and money to make a return trip to finish the project. Needless to say, I will not be doing it with this roofer.
Description of Work: They did not follow through as promised when I awarded them the business. They rescheduled me even knowing I was out of state and had no flexibility around the dates after stating they would not do this. They did so, blaming the monsoon season, after telling me this would not be a factor in scheduling. While I do not know, and will never know, the truth of their situation, I feel they were not being on the level with me. I lost money and time doing business with them and had to find a last minute replacement.

Response from Alan Bradley Roofing
I am sorry that I was unable to do the member's roofing project. Weather was the issue. I had to move the member's roof twice due to either rain or the threat of rain. If the chance of rain is 30% or higher typically we will not tear off a roof leaving the customers home opened to damage. Also a crack and joint sealing compound we use needs time to set up before rain hits it. Once I have to delay my schedule I keep my customers in the same schedule order. I don't move a customer ahead of another customer without asking everyone involved for permission. In fact I did call the customer that was ahead of the member to see if I could move the member ahead of him. Because that customer had a sever leak he did not want to change places. I did explain all of this to the member. He decided to go with another roofing company that could get the roof done one day earlier than I could. I let the member out of his contract with no charge. When weather is an issue a day or two notification is all I am able to give a customer regarding a schedule change. My contract clearly states that, Your job is subject to company's roofing schedule. This is to cover weather delays or unforeseen project issues that may delay our schedule. I communicated all of the above issues to the member and strive to treat all my customers fairly. I was especially pleased with four things: 1, One of the crew noticed that the city's recycle-bin pickup truck couldn't reach my bin at the curb because their truck was in front of it. He ran over and moved my bin into the truck's grabber arm so it could be emptied, and then put it back on the curb. That is service above and beyond. 2.Their estimate was the most clean, professional-looking, and phrased so that each aspect of the work and the material was clear without too much "roofer-inside" lingo. 3. When the old materials were removed, it was obvious that not only was my fascia board rotten along the front, but also the studs it was attached to were rotten at the ends. The roofers couldn't replace the studs because that's the core structure of the house. But they had a solution. We agreed they would saw off the ends of the studs uniformly across the front, moving the edge of the roof closer into the house by about a foot, and attach the new fascia to the then-solid stud tips. That worked well - at no extra charge. 4. Carol, who runs the office, called me as she was preparing the final statement. She wanted to confirm BEFORE that statement went out that I was completely satisfied with the work. She also asked me to call and let her know if I noticed anything at all later that concerned me and they would be out right away to take care of it.
Description of Work: They removed the old shingles on my 1100 sq. ft. house (roofing area 1,608 sq.ft.) down to the plywood decking. A couple of sheets were bad and had to be replaced at a small extra charge - under $10! The bad news was that so many of the planks beneath were also bad due to several years of leaking. The replacement charge for these, and the replacement fascia boards, came to an extra $756. However, their replacement charge of $3.78 per linear ft. is standard. It's just that what I had was in worse condition than I thought so it needed a lot replaced. They put down one layer of 30lb. underlayment which they strongly recommended for durability and adequate support for the somewhat heavier shingles. (Other roofers generally use 15lb.) They applied all new flashing and drip-edge metal, then painted the new metal (except flashing) to match the shingles. They were the only company to offer this, which is great because the shiny - and eventually rusty - metal on the roof can be an eyesore. They installed GAF-Elk 30-yr. mfr. warrantied shingles and took care to clean up all debris. The men in the crew knew what they were doing. They worked hard nonstop and the foreman checked in about four times during the two days to answer any questions and be sure things went well.
