 + -1 moreI dropped off the lamps on a Friday afternoon. The proprietor suggested a different way to rewire the table lamp which may well have been better, and I initially agreed. However, I changed my mind for sentimental reasons and called her the next day, and there way no problem rewiring it the way it was originally rewired. She said they might be done the following week, and actually called Wednesday night to say they were ready. I am very happy with my safer and more functional lamps!
Description of Work: Rewired a table lamp with a frayed cord, and finished my rewiring (I couldn't get all the pieces back together) of a floor lamp.

Description of Work: My lamp was repaired and a good job was done, but the repair took a month and cost 30% more than the original estimate. The lamp is unique and I know the problem was difficult, but I didn't expect such an increase in cost and that the work took so long to complete. However, I woild use this company again as I believe the work was expertly completed.

Description of Work: They repaired the chandelier that was damaged when we moved and also rewired it and put on a longer chain and wire for us. Excellent service. Marisa is excellent and we will go to her, even though it is across town from us, whenever we need lighting assistance.

 + -1 moreOne month ago today we dropped off two lamps to be rewired and converted from UK to US specifications. The owner told us our lamps would be ready for pickup within a week. Two weeks later I called and she said they were not ready and that she would call me when they were. Today, a month later, my wife returned to the store to check on the lamps, and the work had not yet been started. We said thanks, but no thanks, we will take the lamps somewhere else. She didn?t care.

Description of Work: She suggested a lamp shade which was made in the USA and hand sprayed. I did buy the lamp shade. She rewired the lamp so that the marbles would light up and replaced the plug so that it would be compliant with today's electrical code because the lamp is 50 years old. Purchased a new finial (the part that you screw down to keep the lamp shade in place. She was very knowledgeable and see will ask a lot of questions so she can give you ideas for your lamp, which I found great. There were a lot of things I would have never considered. I thought that was great! She also has a large lamp shade selection so if you are looking for a lamp shade that is the place to go but be aware it can be costly. You may want to ask about a warranty for work performed. Overall experience was great.

Description of Work: My lamp was sick. It went 'click click click' when I turned it on. I suspected it was shorting out. It was. A BETTER SHADE charged me $25 to fix it. I could have burnt my house down. Thank you, A BETTER SHADE, we are whole again. I will be back.

 + -1 moreI brought the lamp to A Better Shade and indicated the socket wasn't operating properly and I wanted the socket replaced. The proprietor gave me my options, single turn, 3-way, or dimmer. I opted for the single turn, as I use compact fluorescents. She also inspected the cord and determined it was good. She estimated the cost to be $25.00 She said she could have it done later that day. Upon returning later that day, the lamp was ready. The new socket worked perfectly. She also glued the pad on the bottom of the lamp, as it had come partially unglued. The cost was $25.00, plus tax. I was very satisfied with the transaction.
Description of Work: The provider replaced a socket in a brass table lamp.

 + -1 moreSince coming to Tucson, I have been coming here and although I tried other lamp stores, I find this place to have the best selection on lamp shades....Very regal, well made and the best quality and design. Not only does she have the best selection but her ability is to select the right shade for the lamp which can be challenging and in truth, makes or breaks the beauty of the lamp. She has repaired lamps that I have found in thrift shops, some more challenging than others but all in all, Marisa has a clear understanding of the mechanics as well as the beauty of lamps....
Description of Work: I took two wall lamps in that were damaged from my recent move. Marisa spent ample time explaining what the problem was and although I had an electrician coming in 2 days, she said she would get on it immediately and if need be, come in early so they would be ready for my electrician...when was the last time someone offered that kind of service!!!!!!!

Description of Work: I took a lamp in to be fixed. The owner said that the socket was an inferior socket and that it needed replacing and she gave me a cost to get it repaired.
