TW LEWIS CONSTRUCTION

We have had multiple occasions of interaction with the onsite TW Lewis/DW Homes Sales Representative at Portales as well as their onsite Construction Manager. We have also had very close interaction with one of their representatives at their Design Center and with one of their designated contractors (pool and landscaping). The process of building/buying a home can be a stressful one. This is our fifth home in thirty-nine years of marriage and it is our third and quot;luxury typeand quot; home from lot purchase to completion. We are still in the process of construction although 98% of the decision making on options and interior/exterior finishing is complete. The three individuals we have dealt with have been accommodating in the extreme as relates to our requests for meetings, changes from the initial selection of options, and in assisting us in making decisions where our minds weren't quite made up. We know this has been a burden on them as we are currently resident in another state and we are interacting via telephone, email, and occasional visits. The home is presently through the framing stage with the windows set and wiring and plumbing proceeding as scheduled. This builder gets a premium for their homes....even in a depressed market. We are okay with that. We knew it going in and we wanted to have a customizable home versus purchasing one of their and quot;Showcaseand quot; homes. We have been home shopping and quot;new buildsand quot; in the west valley of Phoenix for approximately three years. As noted previously, being intimately involved in the prior build of two homes, having done plumbing, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and electrical myself, I believe I have an eye for quality construction methods. The project is not complete but I see TW Lewis/DW Homes delivering to my satisfaction on this front. No project is without mistakes as the process typically involves many individuals and many opportunities for miscommunication. There were a couple of errors up through framing but when pointed out to the Construction Manager they were corrected within one shift of workers being on the job. These types of issues have occurred on every one of my builds and a quality builder (I've had one bad builder that took a project to completion.) is quick to resolve by making the change or coming up with an innovative solution to which all parties are agreeable. The mistakes thus far on this project have been minor in nature....omission of a niche, omission of a window, and incorrect framing of a powder room. The only critical comment I can make on the process thus far is the cost of substituting and quot;standardsand quot; that the builder has previously cataloged. On my other projects the builders called out a dollar amount that was predetermined for lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, entry doors, interior doors, flooring, etc. If you chose to go another route the purchaser was given the latitude to shop local vendors for items of choice. The retail price was given and the builders and quot;allowanceand quot; was subtracted with the homeowner then paying the balance out of pocket. If the builder had a wholesale arrangement with the vendor not only was he allowed his allowance but the markup between wholesale and retail. In the process of building with TW Lewis/DW Homes it doesn't seem to go that way. The builder willingly procures the specialty item you want in your home after your having shown a representative make and model. TW Lewis/DW Homes then sets the pricing on that item. Having researched retail pricing on a few items after the fact, in some cases it appears there is minimal credit given for the and quot;standard' items against the home buyer's item of choice and the price TW Lewis/DW Homes is quoting for the requested item. It’s assumed the cost of installation for one lighting fixture versus another lighting fixture or one plumbing fixture for another plumbing fixture is a wash. More communication on both the part of the buyer and on the part of the seller would have put this issue to rest early in the purchasing process. TW Lewis/DW Homes is a luxury home builder and that doesn't directly correlate into being a and quot;customand quot; home builder to which I am making the comparisons. Instead of the buyer going to the builder with a set of architectural plans of their choosing the buyer selects one of the TW Lewis/DW Home plans available and from there TW Lewis/DW Homes will modify, structurally permitting, to the customers desire. In summary, we know the home we want and are proceeding with the build. In fairness to TW Lewis/DW Homes the pricing discrepancy referenced appears to be limited to plumbing fixtures.TW Lewis/DW Homes management welcomed constructive criticism on the matter and they acknowledged they could be more transparent in their pricing of options. Given their overall mindset of sincerely attempting to achieve unsurpassed customer satisfaction I trust they will review this matter internally for consideration of a change in philosophy.

I still remember that day in October 2012 when I was on Monte Vista Road in Goodyear to enter another builder's community when I saw the GREEN board of TW Lewis pointing towards the gated community of Portales! That was the first time I had ever heard of this builder! I decided to take a turn and see their model home. Believe me, I was amazed at both the Model Home and the kind of and quot;Welcomeand quot; I received from the sales person. I looked at the available floor plans and the base prices and was very disappointed since the floor plan I really liked was beyond our budget! But the sales person was still so kind to walk me through the community and showed me a few lots which they had just opened. The backyard of these lots opened to a green belt. I took all the information, and then researched TW Lewis over the internet and read so many good reviews about them! My husband and me re-visited and after a week, we were ready to sign a contract for a semi-custom new build! I am so glad we did! It was a lot of hard work on our part and took a lot of our time since the builder involves you so closely at every stage of construction. Everyone in the company is so nice and customer service is their top priority, no matter what! We closed on our new and quot;Dream Homeand quot; two weeks ago and I just can't say enough about this builder. I would build with them again and again and again every time we have the money! They say on their website and quot;Homes for Particular Peopleand quot; and they are so right about that! They treat you so well all along the process and work with you so closely every day! Thank you TW Lewis! Your and quot;Customer Serviceand quot; is top-notch!

T.W. Lewis team is organized and focused on the customer. After looking at competing new construction offerings and numerous resales, a purchase of a new T.W. Lewis home stood out clearly as the right decision. After the purchase contract is signed, working with the design center etc was a breeze. Can't stress enough how smooth the buying process went. Within 30 days of receiving your keys, they walk you through all key elements of your new home (video included).

Fantastically well. After hearing horror stories about others going with different builders, our experience was top notch from start to finish. We had an excellent sales person who worked with us throughout the process. We had an excellent designer to assist us in our choices. (We spent two days doing design work and my wife and I had a very good time.) Our construction manager was also excellent. They kept us updated at all times as to the progress. They answered our questions quickly. Any question or issue was quickly addressed. I loved working with an entire company that did exactly what they promised, when they promised and always worked with us. It's one thing to work with one person who exceeded your expectations, it's another all together where it's the culture of the entire company. We love our new home. I'm actually a little sad the build process is over. It was that much fun. We likely paid a premium to go with a top notch builder, but I certainly feel we got our monies worth.

THEY DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB ON CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOME, BUT THEIR ARE ALWAYS SOME PROBLEMS. I HAD A PIPE BUST THE FIRST DAY I WAS IN AND IT STARTED TO FLOOD THE BASEMENT. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS PULLED OUT BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEY THOUGHT THE LEAK WAS. THE WOOD FLOOR WAS DAMAGED AND THEY TRIED TO FIX IT WITH PATCHING AND I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE END RESULT. I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE AND THEY DID DO A NICE JOB, BUT I AM STILL DEALING WITH THE FLOOR ISSUE.
