Lon is amazing... His craftsmanship hails perfectionism. I had Shower and Bath Connections completely remodel a 20 year old bathroom. Lon suggested a few ideas... and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. He was very particular about making sure the end product was perfect. I think it is hard to find construction folks that actually care about doing things right. Lon cares! We had Lon tear out the old shower and tub and tile floor. He replaced it with a walk in shower (no tub). This project was especially challenging for me because I live in Seattle! I gave Lon access codes to get into my house when I was not there and he did 100% of the project while I was in Seattle. I'm not sure I would trust many people with full access to my house with me being 1500 miles away. In fact I picked out the tile for the shower and did 100% of the design collaboration over e-mail. I only met Lon in person just once before he started the project (that was bout 45 minute meeting). I would not hesitate to use Lon in the future. In my opinion, he is the best in AZ! Unfortunately I did not give Lon "A"s across the board due to his price... he seems to be a bit expensive, but I have to admit you get what you pay for. AND I DID GET WHAT I PAID FOR! Great stuff!!! I gave Lon an A for responsiveness, but it was a little slower than I would have liked... given that I did not have a hard timeline, and I was not living in the house where he was doing the work, it was probably as expected for the situation. I live on a computer (due to my occupation), so I tend to expect everyone to reply sooner than most. To be fair, it has taken a couple months to write this review! His calendar fills up fast, so if you use Lon (and I hope you do) make sure you contact him early.
Description of Work: Lon and his crew demo'ed the old shower and tub in my master bathroom He re-plumbed the faucets for the shower (double showerheads) He also had to relocate the drain(s). I was hoping to keep the existing tile floor as it was new before we bought the house, but it did not go with the tile I picked out for the shower, so we had to tear out the floor and replace that with new tile as well. He also changed the ventilation system in the master bath

He gave me a ballpark of around $20,000 and said that he would get back to me with a quote. That was two weeks ago and I never heard from him again. I am very disappointed. The $20,000 was ridiculous.

This was the biggest project we have done on our house in 25 years! Although we have had flooring redone and kitchen cabinetry, those projects were much smaller in scope than this. We could not be more pleased with the finished project. When we first met with Lon, we had ideas of how we wanted some things done. He gave us a lot of great suggestions--especially when it came to choices in tile and how to do our beach entry shower. While we felt strongly about some of our decisions (I insisted on the dark tile floor!), we appreciated his guidance along the way when we were not sure how things should be done. His experience helped us end up with a beautiful bath that we will enjoy for years! We cannot say enough about the crew. They are polite, professional and trustworthy. We were extremely pleased with the work they did from every aspect--tiling, plumbing, sheetrock, cabinetry and electrical installation, etc. Having work done on both bathrooms meant they were here for 6-7 weeks total. I felt comfortable enough to leave my house whenever I had to and not worry about having workers here. They take pride in their work and were constantly checking with me to be sure that what they were doing was the way we wanted things done. I actually miss them now that they are done. We have been living with our new master bath for a couple of weeks now and would not change a thing. We also love the changes in the guest bath. We would not hesitate to recommend Shower and Bath Connections to anyone thinking of remodeling. We are very happy that they were the ones we chose with this project.
Description of Work: We had remodeling done on our guest bathroom and our master bath. In the guest bath, the tub and surround were replaced with a deeper, soaking tub and the three surrounding walls were tiled to the ceiling. A new curved shower bar was installed and the toilet was also replaced. In the master bath we did a major overhaul. The shower-tub combination was replaced with a walk-in shower with a beach entry. The shower floor was sloped and a linear drain was installed. New backer board and waterproofing pan liner were installed before the surround was built. A 50" pony wall was installed with a 4" shaving shelf. The shower walls including the pony wall were covered in 12"x24" tile and the floor in 2"x2". The top of the pony wall and the shaving shelf were capped with the travertine used on the vanity counter. A new rain shower head and a hand-held shower fixture were installed. A glass partition was installed above the pony wall. The existing dual vanity (with the faux marble top) was replaced with new cabinetry, tower, sinks, travertine countertop, and new fixtures. Above the vanity two recessed medicine chests and a tilt mirror were installed as well as dual triple sconces. New exhausts were installed above the shower and in the potty room. Recessed lighting was added to the ceiling in the vanity area. The double sliding mirrored doors to the closet were replaced with a single pocket door with bthe bath side mirrored. The entire floor of the bath area (including the master closet) was retiled. In the "potty" room, tile used in the shower was added to the walls to a height of 44" and a new towel bar and toilet paper holder were installed. In both the potty room and above the shower new thermal pane windows were installed to replace the single-pane glass. New electrical circuit for master vanity was installed as well as new outlets inside and outside cabinetry. Recessed lighting was added to the master bedroom. When completed, the entire bath was painted.

This is the second time I have used this company. They are a pleasure to work with. All workmen were polite, neat and considerate. The results are outstanding
Description of Work: Remodeled three bathrooms. Beautiful tile work and stone work. Very helpful suggestions and ideas performed throughout.
Exceptional workmanship on all aspects of the job---demo, electrical, tile, plumbing, cabinetry, glass, painting, and installation work., Surprisingly there were very limited amounts of dust. Since I was having part of a wall removed, I feared the house would be covered in dust. Alas, no worries - this company has such a large suction device that I saw very little dust.Basically the bathroom was gutted, new cabinets, new shower, new glass wall, new mirror, new granite vanity top, fixtures, and a new copper sink. It exceeded my expectations. Included in the work was rewiring of electrical outlets and painting the walls. Lon is especially helpful, accompanying me to the tile showrooms to select the granite countertop. Then he spent time with me in the selection of cabinets. His choice of paint colors was better than mine. He has quite an artistic eye. I had three other companies that I had received quotes from, but none of the other companies took the time to help me figure out granite, tile, and fixtures. Lon went the extra mile. He's the best.
Description of Work: This company remodeled my guest bathroom in a home that was built in 1972. Superior results.

Please accept the story above to answer this question. I can't remember the exact date the work was done. I do believe the Wet Bar was tiled in September 2012, and the Painting was done in October 2012.
Description of Work: Tiled a wet bar area, from floor to near ceiling and around three shelves. Pretty, but more difficult small glass and stone tile. Did an excellent job. The gentleman was truly more interested in the quality of his work than finishing faster. He stuck to his work and offered suggestions to make it even better, though it took longer, and the price was right. I am very happy, and have had compliments from from people I have invited in that noticed and commented. The next month I had the Master Bath and hall to the bedroom painted. There are sliding closet doors all along one wall and a linen closet. They needed sanding and preparing, they were not in good shape. Now, they look new and perfect. I am so glad I called Shower and Bath again to see if they had a painter they could send for the job. Another professional that worked hard and did a fantastic job. I will call them again first for any other job I may have. I have recommended them to others. I found them on Angie's list and I am very grateful. Thank you Angie :)

I rate this experience overall as "A". Why? Because there is no category for A+... :) From the first moment speaking with Lon for an estimate, it was clear to me that he was the one I wanted to perform the work out of everyone I spoke with. He came across as professional, knowledgeable and passionate about the service to be provided. We had some minor communication issues relative to price, but that is completely attributable to my lack of knowledge in the area combined with the fact that I was a bit out of his normal service area and it was a small job that they were willing to fit in between other jobs. No problem whatsoever (althugh I'd suggest aritten estimate, which I did not ask for)... Lon also made himself available by phone and e-mail multiple times answering small questions about the work to be performed, and was gracious at all times. The tile work was performed by Martin and the plumbing by Lon. My wife was home both days while the work was being done and could not say enough kind things about the professionalism, dedication, hard work, and cleanup. It was, as much as can be, an absolutely enjoyable experience. She was completely confident that the job was going to be done to her satisfaction, and the result was outstanding! This is one vendor I can truly say I look forward to working with again.
Description of Work: Remove carpet and install tile in master bath.
I was very pleased with the final product. The workmanship by all his crew members was excellent. Workers were neat, courteous, friendly, and professional. I would definitely do business with this company again. This company has been in business for a long time (over 20 years I believe). They survived the 2008-2011 recession n the construction industry! That gave me added confidence that they would be able to complete my job.Tile work was excellent! Very neat. Ours is a tract home. Original walls and flooring were not flat which is a challenge for tile work. The tile setter did a great job. Pricing was fair (based on my research and experiences of my neighbors with similar projects)The company is small, so the same workers came to my house each day and I had direct contact with the owner of the company (Lon). This is a plus. After I met the crew members, I didn't worry about having to be home all the time during the remodeling. Contractor uses a lockbox for access. Only negative- This was the first time I had a remodel done so I would have appreciated a bit more guidance in the early stages. I had a pretty good idea what I wanted but needed a a bit of help (what is the process for selecting granite for the countertop for example) I think Lon is working to improve this part of the process.
Description of Work: Recently had a master bath remodeled by Lon's company. We had a shower and bath removed and replaced with a tile shower enclosure (tile on floors and walls). New cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures and toilet. New flooring- removed vinyl and replaced with tile. New lighting. Removed bypass closet doors and replaced with a pocket door- contractor suggested this, we hadn't thought of it and boy was it a good idea! Also had bathroom painted.
In a word - Stunning! Simply stunning (OK - that's two words). This is the master bathroom that my wife has always wanted - her dream bathroom. Showroom quality (OK - that's two words again). We had heard that Lon was the bath remodeling specialist that could make her (and his) design dreams become reality and that he was. I could only describe Lon's work as "high quality". Lon achieves this level of quality as he is a "hands on" owner staying very close to every job with attention to detail. And he really knows what he is doing. Lon is also honest as the day is long. He met every commitment he made and even refused to let me pay for a mistake he made on his quote (I received the missing item at no cost to me - seriously - where do you find that level of integrity today?). All of the tradesman were professional, pleasant, timely and cared a great deal about the work they were doing. Lon - hold on to these guys! Lon has an impressive list of suppliers that made product decision and selection making informative and fun (e.g. design for "use" not just appearance). Lon also did a good job of keeping us informed every step of the way. I can truly say that my wife and I are beyond impressed with our new master bath. We never thought we would be living in a design magazine world at such a reasonable price!
Description of Work: Complete master bath remodel including design, demo, shower extension, extra large tub; extensive marble (flooring, shower, vanity, tiling and accents throughout); drywall texturing and painting, self-closing hardwood cabinets with matching custom woodframed mirror, cabinet over john, high toilet with easy close lid, new electrical line run with all new outlets (20 amp), all new high quality "Hansgrohe" fixtures and hardware (including 10 inch "rain" style shower head plus second handheld shower head), bench in shower, two new exhaust fans, custom grouting and thick, frameless clear glass shower door with protective coating and custom marble baseboards....etc.

Once we gave the initial depost, we wanted the work to be done magically overnight. We knew that was not going to happen. But we are very pleased with the progress. Things were always moving along. My mother in law started a remodel of just her master bathroom at the same time at her home in Florida. We finished at the same time. He contractor came in, did the demo, and made her wait. Lon made me wait in the beginning and then everything progressed. And we got two more baths and a bedroom done in the same amount of time. I liked the way we did it better, and so does my mother in law. As I mentioned the crew was here for almost 3 months. On one day they were working, we had a major family crisis. I have to say these gentlemen, we're just that, gentlemen. They all have class and it was and is very much appreciated. If I had more work to do I would hire them all again in a heartbeat. Excellent quality and craftsmanship is what I received.
Description of Work: We contracted Lon from Shower and Bath to remodel our master bedroom, master closet, master bathroom, powder room and hall bathroom. We have lived in our home for 17 years and ready for a major overhaul. Our children moved out of the house and we were very excited about the changes we had been wanting to make. I cannot say this was a fast process but it was a smooth process. This remodel took almost 3 months to complete, but there was a tremendous amount of work to do. And I did not want it rushed. Lon's crew is the best that has ever worked on our home. There was someone here almost every day for a full day of work. If there wasn't someone here, there wasn't work to be done, or it was Sunday. We were either waiting on a part or, concrete to dry, etc. There was little if any lag time. Also the crew is just a great bunch of guys. Clean, polite, honest and respectful of my home and property. I don't want them to leave. I just wish I had another shower/bath to do. Also this remodel turned out better than we hoped or expected and we need to give that credit to Lon. Lon has a meticulous eye, and he has been doing this a long time. He would take my idea and perfect it. also he showed us how to get the most out of our remodeling dollar. Even though we made some trade offs the price only changed slightly and was very close to the original estimate.

The entire project went extremely well. At the start of demo, all of our furniture and pictures where either moved or covered up securely before they started removing the existing tile from the kitchen floor. As part of the new design, we had a kitchen wall moved and redesigned to fit the requirements of our new kitchen. Workmen and suppliers, both men and women, arrived at our home when promised, were professional, and extremely courteous. My wife and I had no concerns about leaving our home during the day while the workers were here. All of the contractor's employees are extremely detail oriented and corrected many small flaws that we did not even notice. A couple of times, when minor things were not done as the contractor had anticipated, they were corrected immediately. At the conclusion of the remodeling project, the house was left spotless. I have used this same contractor in previous years to remodel three bathrooms and our master bedroom. I can't say enough positive things regarding his work.
Description of Work: We totally remodeled our kitchen including new cabinets, countertops, appliances, lighting fixtures, and flooring. We also extended the new flooring in to the adjoining dining room.

I first contracted S&B back in 2007 to do my kitchen remodel. They did such an exemplary job and fairness in costs that when it came time to do my guest bath I did not even bother to look elsewhere. They redid my guest bath in 2009 and had them come back again last fall (above date and cost) to do my second bath. Everyone on their crew is extremely trustworthy, polite and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: This job was for my secondary bathroom. It was completely gutted and redone from eliminating the dropped soffits all the way down to new floors. It came out better than I had hoped.

Shower and Bath Connection recently completed a complete remodel of our kitchen. Lon and his team helped us coordinate granite, cabinetry, and other features to create a beautiful and functional design. The S&B Team was capable, hard working, open and honest; and we felt comfortable having them in our home. The remodel was completed on time and work was done right the first time. We enthusiastically recommend Shower and Bath Connection.

Going into the project, I was looking for someone who would be able to perform quality work while also offering design ideas. Lon's company, Shower and Bath Connection, came through in both areas. When planning out the project, Lon did a great job of making the discussion a two way process--listening to what we wanted, providing some suggestions of his own, and back in forth until we knew we had a plan in place. He even asked me to show him something in the house that I thought best represented me, to help him figure out what ideas to suggest. He kept this up throughout the remodeling process. At one point, after we'd picked out the cabinetry, granite, and Forzastone, he called me to ask if I was sure I wanted the brushed nickel plumbing fixtures that we'd selected early on and not the oiled bronze. He was right, oiled bronze is what we wanted; the brushed nickel wouldn't have looked right. The build process was nothing short of quality. He was very conscientious to ensure the floor was covered and that everything stayed clean during demolition (putting plastic over the doorways, using a fan to blow dust out the window, etc.). The quality of workmanship continued throughout the remodeling, from the skillful laying of tile, to the drywall work, etc. I was impressed with some of the little extras: The outlet inside the tower cabinet so you can keep your hairdryer plunged in while stored and just pull it out and use it, the light over the shower wired to the vent fan, etc. I'm very happy with the end result and know that I a unique, high quality, bathroom remodel. Everyone I interacted with throughout the process showed a complete devotion to professionalism and quality. I imagine that if you knew exactly what you wanted to have done and were looking for someone to just do what you say, you may be able to get the work done for a lower price, but in my case I was willing to pay a bit of a premium given my priority on design suggestions and quality of workmanship. I've been bitten in the rear end too many times in the past when trying to "cheap out" on the work I was having done. And there really was a lot of work that went into it, as a learned throughout the process. My only suggestion for Lon is to more accurately record the specific items that the customer is looking to have done. There was a bit of back and forth to make sure the quote covered everything I wanted to have done (which admittedly was a lot). As someone who also has to keep track of a lot of actions between a lot of customers I find the iPad I just got to be handy in this regard. I would also suggest for the customer to record everything you understand is to be done in a spreadsheet and share that with the remodeler to make sure you're on the same page and nothing is overlooked. I've posted pictures here, but I also recommend checking out the Shower and Bath Connections web site, for planning your remodeling. Lon posts pictures of his projects there and it's a great source of ideas, as well as a good way to assess the quality of his work.
Description of Work: Complete removal of all bathroom fixtures, including vanity, tub, shower, lights, faucets Removal of a couple of "cosmetic" walls to expand floor space Drywall for new wall area, holes from lights, relocated mirrors Installation of cherry wood vanity with towerInstallation of vanity mirrors with medicine cabinets behind them Installation of new lights Forzastone shower enclosure, bath backsplash, and tub skirt Pony wall built for shower enclosure Heavy glass on shower pony wall Granite counter tops, tub platform, pony wall cap Replumbing for relocated tub and shower valves, drains Tiling of shower floorInstallation of upgraded plumbing fixtures: spigots for two vanity sinks, shower spigot, head and sprayer, tub spigot and sprayer Installation of upgraded towel racks Floor tile reinstall/modification as needed Installation of light about shower, tied to vent fan Upgrade of vent fan Toilet replacement

Member: I hope the product that was estimated was the same for all those bidding? This is unusual in a job this small to have that much variable. Hope all goes well and you are happy with the job.
Shower and Bath not only did an outstanding job, it was completed in about seven weeks and the team was courteous, trustworthy, professional and very hard-working. Shower and Bath can do it all, way beyond what their name implies. The company has a very strong knowledge of what improvements are necessary, practical, cost-effective and good additions to lasting value of the home. Shower and Bath also brought brought items up to the latest code without being prompted by the owner.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of two-story home built in 1994. The project included every element of the house (flooring, carpet, repaint interior with 4-5 different colors, appliances, removal of a wall, electrical, plumbing, lighting upgrades, etc. Shower and bath also did some additional work while the client was in Europe which was very much needed but overlooked in the initial scope of work. I would recommend Shower and Bath for any remodel, regardless of scope.

Right from the start Lon and his workers were great. We have never done a remodeling project this large and had heard many horror stories -- which seemed to be the norm when it comes to kitchen remodeling jobs. Compared to what we had heard and expected, this experience went very smooth. The plan itself was worked out with a decorator, Lon, and my wife and me, which took some time to get developed and within budget. Admittedly our budget was tight given the scope of the job (and our preference for premium applilances) but Lon and the decorator made the necessary plans and adjustments to make it work and, once the plans and budget were completed and approved, the remodeling itself went very smoothly. And, perhaps most importantly, the job was done on time and on budget, with no hassles on either issue. We were especially pleased with Lon's selection of subcontractors. Every single subcontracted service professional who Lon employed was polite, considerate of us and our time, and highly capable and competent. In fact, if we were to ever need additional work done that does not require a contractor (e.g., AC, electrical, cabinet work, etc.), we wouldn't hesitate to go back to any one of the subcontractors employed by Lon. And I want to once again emphasize that once the budget was set Lon worked within that budget (very important to us since we paid cash and had no extra cash available for the project), and also completed the job according to schedule (also very important since we needed the job done by Christmas so that we could follow through with family holiday plans). From what I can gather, such professionalism concerning budgets and timing are rare with these sorts of remodeling jobs. Bottom line is that I'd recommend Lon and his company to anyone in need of kitchen remodeling, and I definitely plan to use Lon and his company in the future when we do a remodeling of our bathrooms.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of the kitchen, including new appliances, cabinets, countertops, lighting, and sink. Removal of soffits. Ran gas line into kitchen so could install a gas stove. Painted all interior walls in the house. Re-carpeted three bedrooms. Lon was our contractor and was responsible for the hiring and oversight of all subcontracted work, which included painters, plumber, electrician, AC vent worker, carpet installers, cabinet installer, granite counter installers. His own crew also did much of the hands-on work including demolition, dry wall work, installation of appliances, some painting, plumbing, floor repair, running gas line into kitchen, re-configuring the kitchen window, removal of soffits, tile work (and probably many more aspects of the job that I can't think of right now).

Overall, he was wonderful. He works really hard to come under budget for his customers. He is honest. He has the best crew! It was overall a really good experience.
Description of Work: He completed and re-did the lighting in our great room. He also painted. We have 14 windows that go around the back of our house and instead of removing the windows he updated them. He also updated the laundry room. He also remodeled the kitchen and a bathroom.
We called Lon with a very rush job. We were just closing on a 2,000 sqft house in Scottsdale and had approximately a month to get most of the work done before we moved in. Lon immediately put me in touch with a kitchen designer he works with and by the next day Jennifer (the designer) and Lon had met us at the house to measure and give us some numbers. Jennifer had a line of cabinets she represented, Mid-continent, that could be shipped and installed within 3 weeks. Wow. Lon put together the itemized bid and by the next day his people were in the house doing the demo. This was pretty representative of the whole experience. Fast, competent and very responsive. A month and a half later we pretty much had a new house. Very good craftmanship and willing to fix anything that is not quite right. I highly recommend these guys. We had received another bid from a different contractor before we went with Kitchen and Bath Connection but were having trouble getting detail on estimating and process and the contractor just wanted us to give him a down payment before the planning really began. That was a big red flag and so I got on Angies List and called a few people including Kitchen and Bath. If I had to give any advice to anyone planning any remodel is to get a thorough and very detailed estimate. You may "talk" about things with the contractor and you may think that it's understood that these things are included but they probably won't be if they aren't in writing. This was the third remodel of a house that my wife and I have done and this was by far the smoothest experience.
Description of Work: Knock down wall between kitchen and living room. New kitchen. Paint whole house. New carpet and new tile in whole house. Scrape all popcorn ceilings. Install new hardware on doors. Install new fans and fixtures. Fix lots of drywall. New ducts in half of house. New canned lighting in family, living and kitchen.

Great honesty and professional contact.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate. Immediately the professional person let me know that they were booked out many weeks. I greatly appreciate this honesty and wish I could have hired such a company, however, I had an immediate deadline. Thanks for honesty.
