Initial visit went OK. The tech claimed he found a bad capacitor in my heater system. The stated price to replace was $114 but if I bought 1 year service for $199 the capacitor would be included in the price. I opted for the 1 year service. Since then they have been scheduled twice to come out to clean and test the AC unit. The first time they called on the day of service to say they couldn't make it. Rescheduled and waited at home for the scheduled time, again a no-show. This time I had to call them to find out they weren't going to make it. That was enough for me. I told the gentleman I was dealing with that I didn't want their service and I expected a refund for the difference between the capacitor cost and the service contract cost. One week later I called him back to find out where we were and was told his boss had not responded and he would be in the office in the afternoon and he would check with him at that time and give me a call back. I have lost faith in them and wouldn't feel good about trusting their diagnosis should they find anything wrong with the AC.

I was very happy with the work perfomed - very honest
Description of Work: Came out to service my unit and found some problems that were an easy fix but more importantly by heat was not working and the first tech did not catch that or offer to fix it at all. I called the offiice and spoke to the manager and told him what happened and he offered to send a tech out for no charge. The problem was a simple loose connection..........the tech did not charge me anything for fixing the problem. I was very happy with them all around.

It was an unpleasant experience. Terrible customer service. I do not trust, nor do I want Peterson's near my heating and cooling unit. Please refund my money.
Description of Work: When I called to schedule my furnace cleaning, I was told that Peterson Electric had purchased Deer alley Mechanical and that someone would call me back to set up a time to perform the service. Two days passed and no one called, so I called back. After being put on hold for some time, a man named "Rudy" answered and scheduled my service for March 5, about a 7 day wait, for between noon and 2 pm. March 5th came and went and no one came from Peterson's, nor did they call. I called back at 9am the next day and was put on hold for so long, that I hung up in disgust and called back a few minutes later. I was finally routed to again speak with "Rudy" who apologized and said he would send someone that day, as soon as he finished the call he was currently on. I told him that I would be leaving my home around 1pm and asked that he call me to let me know when to expect the service man. Well, 1pm, came and went and I never received a call, not on that day nor have I heard from Peterson's since. I would like a refund please.

Don did a very thorough job inspecting the cooling system, replaced a bad capacitor, cleaned all the coils and the air ducts. I was happy with Don's service and signed up for a 5 yr contract to inspect the system twice per year.

It was a 2-pronged approach. First was the inspection where the technician checken out the unit and the air handling system and made recommendations. Then a week later the installation team came. They were very neat and I had only a few pieces of insulation to pick uo; otherwise they cleaned upthe whole mess. I asked for their training as my brother in law in another state works for TRANE and the workers had the right initials. If there is anything negative I would say it is that I probably did not need the extended warranty I bought, but it does give me twice yearly check ups and that will make up for it. overall, VERY SATISFIED
Description of Work: Deer Valley added another air return to my existing system as well as overhauled current TRANE 15 SEER unit and provided a service warranty.

he said he had just joined the company and had nebver serviced a residence before. I wasn't happy about this in that I had now
Description of Work: Two hours before the tech was due to arrive I received a call stating that he would be late by an an unknown amount of time. Since I had another commitment away from home I was not able to wait all day. A new appointment was arranged for the following week on the day after Thanksgiving. On the following Wednesday I received a call saying that the person who scheduled me for Friday was not aware that the company was closed on Friday. She offered to have the tech come out on Saturday instead. Saturday arrived and the tech was a no show. I called and spoke to the dispatcher who stated that he didn't know why the tech hadn't shown up or called. He said that he would call him in the field and find out what was going on. A half hour later I called him again and he said he couldn't reach the tech(Josh). This really annoyed me since I had to call to find this out rather than the dispatcher calling me. I asked if he wanted to try to contact him again and call me back this time so I know what's going on. He agreed but never called back. On Monday I called the service manager who promised to have someone out that day and this time, finally someone showed up, however he said he had just joined the company and had never serviced a residence before. That became obvious after walking in and out of my house with his dirty boots. He did half the job and I had to remind him that he needed to service both heat pumps. Although the price was right the service was poor and I wouldn't use them again.

The business never showed up, never called & never even contacted me to tell me they did not make the appointment. I contacted them the next business day and then they contacted me with an apology for not keeping the appointment. I requested a full refund of $39 from the business and got it from Angie's List. Thanks Angie; you delivered.

Our HVAC system was installed when we built this home 18 years ago. After the tech finished his inspection and we sat down, I started preparing myself (mentally) for the estimate to replace the entire system. He gave me a few options, none of which was a new system. For a few hundred bucks it works like new and should deliver many more years of reliable service. When the day finally comes for a new HVAC system, you can be sure we will call Deer Valley. We highly recommend this company.

I was given an estimate for over $600.00. I got a SECOND opinion. . He said the coils looked like new, the capacitor was fine. He resealed everything as needed. Everything is running fine He will come back when it is hotter and look at my AC unit. His total cost was $80.00.
Description of Work: The technician checked the 12.5 capacitor and said it had to be replaced. He took the cover loose for the AC coil and said it had to be cleaned, without ever taking the inner coil cover off. He recommended resealing the plenun. The AC unit had burnt pole connector, he recommended replacement. New air filter or freon wasn't supplied or mentioned as stated in service call.

I paid for a $39 tuneup including a free washable air filter. the tech arrived on time, was friendly and knowledgeable. HOWEVER, after his initial inspection, he told me I needed over $379 worth of work! I bought this 12 year old house only a few months ago, but was still shocked at the costs. He then told me about a 3 year service plan (spring and fall) for $500 and if I bought that the $379 would be waived. Now I look closer at other reviews and see an annual contract for $88!!! Having my children due for the Thanksgiving holiday, I did not want to risk a faulty heater in case it got cold, so I agreed. I would have preferred to shop around for a service contract, but had no time in that situation to do so. To my surprise, he then pulled out a contract with another company name on it - Peterson, I think, telling me that they were changing names, but it was still the same owners. I just got the December Angies news magazine and imagine my surprise seeing a Deer Valley ad - I'm confused. I might change the rating to A once I get thru the winter and see what happens during the spring inspection. Of course, if that costs more money, the grade will be MUCH lower and I'll consider whatever action I need to take then

The guy, Josh from Deer Valley Mechanical, shows up and says as I showed him the coupon, "we don't do both for that price, we only do one." I explained that this was not what the ad says. I asked him then to look at the heater. He looked at it and said it needed a fuse, and I would need an expert. I thought, then who are you? Isn't that why I hired you. He then said he didn't do a/c too. I then asked him to leave, and he said it was an issue between myself and Angie's List. He then tried to charge $79.95, which is $1.95 more than what the deals were worth.
Description of Work: I anticipated them coming out to service both AC units anbd both heaters, per the coupons I paid for that said $39.00 for furnace + a/c tune up. I ordered two of them.

It was great. I called for the appointment, expecting a long wait for service. To my surprise, the technician called back within hours to set an appointment almost immediately. I'm in the east valley, which is area of service for this representative. He arrived at the appointed time, we talked about the service briefly, then he got to work on the unit. He was finished servicing the unit (both inside and out) within the hour. There were no additional charges above the coupon price. The tech was a customer service dream--prompt, polite, efficient, with excellent verbal communication skills. I would definitely recommend this service provider for a "cut to the chase," "get 'er done" HVAC service.
Description of Work: Checked out entire unit, inside and out, made minor repairs and replacements.

My "story" is above. I would not recommend this company. I know things can get mixed up, but with 2 calls? I think they can do better.
Description of Work: I actually called this company twice. Once to set up an appointment. and talked with an employee who was to come on Monday, 7/16/12 between 12-4 P.M. I called again on Saturday to tell them that we needed someone to bring air filters too since my husband had pulled a muscle trying to see what was needed in the ceiling. He assured me that they would bring filters. We waited until 4:25 P.M. on Monday 7/16. My husband called and who ever he talked to said they had no record of my calls. We told him to cancel the requested order if they found it. We have heard nothing since. We decided to go with another company.

We recently moved into this home and the A/C unit is 10 yrs old. I was anticipating hearing some bad news about the A/C unit but the tech advised that the unit was in good working order and explained all of the readings that he obtained on my A/C unit. He also showed me a couple of things that may need attention in the fall. All in all I was very impressed with the service and trusted what was told to me.
Description of Work: I responded to one of the Angie's list deals and had Deer Valley Mechanical service my A/C unit. The technician that responded was very informative, professional and polite. I will definitely use them in the future.

Background: 1 year ago, I had HVAC checkup from a different company. They reported several problems, i.e. capacitor outside normal range, etc; ~$500 worth of work. The prior 6-month checkup (by a trusted friend?s company) had showed no problems. I decided not to have the work done. Didn?t have any problems over the next year. My impression is that the work they wanted to do was unnecessary and that they were not a trustworthy company. As a result, I was looking for a new HVAC company. When Angie?s List offered a special coupon for 2 HVAC checkups from Deer Valley Mechanical, I read the reviews and bought the coupon. My experience with Deer Valley Mechanical (DVM): Mechanic (Nathan) showed up on-time. Checked split system; found no issues except to warn that air handler motor is on its last legs (not surprising, it?s 25 yrs old). Discussed options. Chose to wait until next fall; hoping it will last that long. Appt was in early morning so AC wasn?t turned on when Nathan left. In the afternoon, I turned on unit. Nothing happened; unit didn?t come on. Called DVM. Nathan came back immediately, in spite of being at other end of Phx. Checked all, found that air handler transformer had burned out(!). Altho Nathan didn?t think it could have been result of the checkup, he replaced the transformer at no charge (~$300 part). Unit turned on and has worked perfectly since. I have no background to make any judgment about whether the checkup could have caused the transformer to burn out. IF it did, then DVM responded appropriately to the situation (quick fix at no charge). However, if the problem was simply a coincidence, then DVM went well beyond what might reasonably have been expected. When a service call goes without incident, you learn a little about the company?s service. When there is a problem, you have the opportunity to learn much more. I now have considerable confidence that if I have a problem with my unit, DVM will respond quickly, appropriately and will charge reasonably.
