Description of Work: Appointment scheduled for today at 7am to get a bid for exterior painting. By 7:30am no call or text had been received and nobody showed up for a bid. Called in and was told it would be another 20 minutes due to traffic from an accident. Looked at my maps app and there were no accidents on highways or major surface streets within 10 miles of me. For "punctuality is our principal" being somewhat of a slogan it was a pretty big let down.

Description of Work: This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I hired Marcel painting because of their reputation on this site and they had a competitive price. I found out that this was a major mistake. First and foremost, scheduling with them was a hassle. They had to cancel/reschedule my job 2 times because they were too far behind on other work. Once was due to bad weather and they were working on other projects outside. I had no real issue with this, except that it would take over a week for them to reschedule. | |When the work began is when the h*** started. It started with them sending their sales guy (David) out to act as a Project Manager. He was very nice and talked with us about final colors and said explicitly to us, "We can try the color on this wall, and if it's not right we can change it no problem." His painter finally showed up a few hours later and had a tester of the paint. I explained what David had told me and the painter said "No problem." He then painted a quick test strip on the wall to dry, then left. As it was drying, we called as quickly as possible to the office to say "This color won't work." The office said no problem and told us that they would relay everything to the needed parties. I then got a phone call from Kelly(the owner). He said to me that it wasn't protocol to change paint colors at the last minute, to which I replied with exactly what his sales guy(David) had told me. Kelly said he would handle it and asked us to give him a paint color ASAP so they could do the work. | |We settled on a paint color after a quick visit to the store and I called them to let them know the paint color we wanted as requested. I then got a call from David saying "We already bought all the paint for the job with the wrong color, so you have to pay for it or we will cancel the job." I clarified what he had said at the house, and he said that was correct, that we could have a "test wall." So I asked why I had to pay for their mistake to which he replied, "Kelly called me and told me to figure it out, so I am willing to give you a 30% discount on the paint that we bought incorrectly." So I had to pay for their mistake. | |This should have been the point where I walked away, but I didn't. I had promised my invalid wife that the house would be painted and after the mess of getting scheduled, I didn't want to delay any longer so I agreed to pay for it just to move along. After that the nightmares continued, the project kept getting delayed and I was given ridiculous excuses as to why they couldn't finish the job. Painters started on average around 10 am, and were gone by 3pm. I was told the interior would be painted in 1-1.5 days. It took them 3 just to get it done with two coats. | |Suffice it to say, the quality of their work was shoddy at best. Old colors shown through very clearly, paint all over outlet/lightswitch covers, and some places they just plain missed. They were contracted to do some touchups on our ceiling and just plain didn't do it. Their quality inspector came through after they were "done" and said that the work was sub-standard and they would come fix it. So the workers came back for day 4 to fix their issues and still didn't do the touch ups. Day 4 the quality inspector came back and again said "This is bad and needs to be fixed." So they came back AGAIN to fix the issues and finally had the basics correct. However, they said they couldn't do the touch ups because they didn't have the color for the ceiling. So they told my wife who is in a wheelchair to go to the store and get it. Since she wasn't capable of driving at the time, she obviously couldn't. So they just used the wall color on the ceiling so in their words "It could be done." | |When the quality inspector came back the next day I showed him the spots on the ceiling and he said "We'll get it fixed." To which I replied, "You have fixed enough. I will call the owner and discuss this with him but under no circumstances should you send your crew back. Their work is terrible by your own admission and I want a partial refund for this." | |None of this reflects the fact that they also broke our family piano(which cost me several hundred dollars to fix) in moving the furniture and left all of our furniture in the middle of the rooms instead of moving back as they said they would. | |Then when it came time to pay the bill, no considerations for the shoddy work or breaking my piano, I was charged for the paint they mistakenly ordered, and when I was late in getting the payment to them because my wife had to be hospitalized after more surgeries, the only contact I get from Kelly the owner is a threat to send me to collections. | |I was assured by Kelly during our early phone calls that this experience was not normal, but I hesitate to believe it. This organization is one I can't warn you enough about. Do not hire them for anything unless your expectations are for shoddy work and to be charged for their mistakes.

Description of Work: Painted entire interior (with 3 colors) and exterior, all closets,interior of garage, epoxy garage floor, paint entire exterior of house with 3 colors. Instructions were "if you see it, paint it". We bought a short sale house that had some walls painted black, burgundy or battleship grey because the previous owners had teenagers. They primed over it all and got it in great shape in just days. They are professional and do not need to be "managed".

Description of Work: On 6/10, a crew of 3 young men painted the walls of our entry foyer, living room, formal dining room, hallway to master bedroom, master bedroom, and master bathroom. No ceilings, baseboards, trim, or closets were painted, and they taped off the baseboards and trim very carefully. We supplied all the paint, as I originally had another painter, and had bought all my paint when it was on sale at Lowe's. They supplied everything else (rollers, brushes, tape, drop cloths, etc). They moved all the necessary furniture and removed window coverings, and put everything back when finished. They filled all the cracks and gaps with top quality caulking, which really made for a nice look. They also filled holes in the walls from pictures and hangings before painting. They did all this in one day. Our front door was very weathered from the hot sun, so a few days later, we had them sand it down, stain, and apply a coat of varnish. The first painter we hired had already painted our guest bathroom, however, we weren't happy with the color, as it was too dark for the room. Since we were undecided when they painted the other rooms, it wasn't done then. We did have them come back on the 21st. and repaint it a lighter color, and the total amount we spent has this included.

Description of Work: We contacted Marcel painting to paint our interior wall to wall and to fix mistakes outside that a previous contractor made. Work included ceilings, walls, baseboards, closets, basically anything that could be painted, was. They also painted the cement around our pool.

Description of Work: This property was a rental property left to our estate in an inheritance, it needed to be liquidated. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on the repairs, but still make the property livable and marketable. I'm not kidding when I say, the property was in horrible shape...2 broken interior doors; holes in walls; painted walls were blood red, and ceiling was painted black and had a funny chemical odor about them; exterior block wall was covered in graffiti. Kelly Mardis at Marcel painting came out personally to do the quote. He explained how they would repair the damage to surfaces, paint walls to prevent dark colors from bleeding thru, and assist in dealing with the chemical smoke damage. The price was so reasonable, I have to admit I didn't expect much except getting the job done. When the job was completed, I was more than pleasantly surprised! It was not only repaired, they cleaned up their mess, but the mess left behind by the previous tenant. It transformed and became beautiful and marketable. We sold it shortly after and were able to increase asking price due to increased appraisal value!

Description of Work: Exterior and trim on a 25 year old house in Ahwatukee needed repainting. Got estimates from a variety of companies - both from Angies List and from other businesses who recommended them. Kelly came out to the house for an estimate and consultation. The price and information about their procedures and materials was very competitive and detailed.They also painted the block walls, patio seating area, beehive fire place and planter walls.

Description of Work: This all started with water damage in the garage from my water heater breaking (in a four year old home no less). The owner of Marcel painting, Kelly Mardis came out personally for the quote. He really listened to my problems as well as my dreams for the rest of the home. Marcel Painting turned the disaster into magnificance. Yes, you can't tell that the water heater ever leaked. But now...That "cookie cutter" color I hated on the exterior of my new home (but had to pick) is gone! My interior entry went from boring hello to a breathtaking invite to all entering with the help of a complex faux finish tricolor wash. My bedroom was transformed with a flick from Marcel Painting's color wand and their carpentry crown moulding, and it went from a sterile "cell" to a private oasis for rest and tender abandon. And my master bathroom where I practice yoga and meditate, well, they painted a very difficult harlequain pattern that looks like something straight out of Phoenix Homes and Gardens magazine. It is a place of peace now. This company truely works majic with paint.

Description of Work: Foreman Carlos and his 2-man crew prepped and painted the exterior of my patio home, including surrounding patio walls, "pony wall" planters running around the inside perimeter, and the atrium. Job included scraping away inferior caukling on wood beams left by a previous contractor and resealing the beams with a natural-looking sealer prior to painting. Carlos also sanded and re-varnished my front entry door.
