Description of Work: Called for an appliance repair. I lived 3 miles north of downtown Phoenix. They are in Tempe. They don't service my area. They don't service the central Phoenix? That's ridiculous!

Description of Work: We were having problems with our GE Side by Side Refrigerator. There was water in the bottom of the freezer and the refrigerator was not as cold as it should be. My neighbor had used E &J Appliance and gave me their name for future reference. I made note of their name and filed it away. I gave E&J Appliance a call on October 30 and was set up with an appointment the next day. Johnny arrived on time, introduced himself, was very professional, and needless to say we were very impressed with his knowledge and know-how. He installed a new heater assembly and had the refrigerator up and running. We have not had any further problems with our refrigerator. Johnny kept his work area neat and cleaned the area thoroughly before he left. I'm sorry this review took so long to prepare. I was very satisfied with E&J Appliance and highly recommend them.

Description of Work: Brad came out to see what was causing a loud grinding, screech when my front load was in its final spin. The noise only happened once while washing towels but was scary sounding enough to make me have it looked at right away! He was thorough and concerned but ...just figures ...it wouldn't make the noise and I even gave him some towels to run through so there would be some weight in the machine! He re-leveled the machine and adjusted the water hoses as he found that they were making a bumping noise. But, he told me to call right away if the grinding screech happens again and said he'd be right over. Also informed me of their 30 day policy of no trip charge when/if issues arise within that time. That made me feel much more confidant with running future loads of clothes! My machine is a front load Maytag and only 14 months old!! We have a home warranty but I elected to call a factory authorized appliance service instead of taking a chance with another company that wasn't factory authorized. Also want to mention that when I called to make the appointment, the woman was cordial, took my info and gave me a run down of their fees and what to expect up front. Very professional company with whom I will call again for all of my appliance repairs.

Description of Work: E&J repaired the door on my dishwasher

Description of Work: I do not recall the approximate date of work. They repaired by Maytag washer and did an excellent job. They advised that the next time the specific part broke not to repair it again as it was very unusual to go through that many in a short number of years. It was good advice. They also came out to look at my dishwasher that was old and not working anymore and advised that I buy a new dishwasher as I would spend as much in repair on the old one. I am glad that they didn't just want to try to make money off of me.

Description of Work: My Kenmore refrigerator was making a periodic knocking sound and I called E&J to check it out.

Description of Work: Washing machine pump cleaned out. Explained the best product to clean it with, how often and showed me how to remove the pump and empty it after each cleaning.In the future we won't have to have a repairman come out. I've been following the manufacturer's directions by using bleach. He explained this doesn't get the gunk out.

Description of Work: I needed an ice maker replaced in a Samsung refrigerator in which I had not purchased a warranty extension beyond the manufacturer's one year warranty. It was difficult finding an appliance service company that would work on Samsung products in the Phoenix metro area. Note to self to maybe not purchase this brand in the future. I called E & J and was relieved to finally find a company that worked on Samsung. Brenda was very helpful on the phone and I kind of already figured I was gong to need a new ice maker and she gave me a ballpark figure for the part and time frames and set me up an appointment for a Saturday morning. I was pleasantly surprised that the had Saturday appointments available at no extra cost. On Saturday morning our appointment was for 8:00 am and the technician, Brad, actually came early and we weren't quite out of bed yet. It didn't take long for him to diagnose the problem with the ice maker and advise us that he would order the part, which he sent the order into the office right from his tablet. The part came in a few days later and Brad showed up early again for our next set appointment and installed the new ice maker in record time. Everything worked great and it has been for the last two and a half months now! I paid for the initial visit, the part and the final install on completion and I was a very satisfied customer and would definitely use E&J again and recommend them to others.

Description of Work: Great service, good explanation of problem and parts. My problem is that the parts are ridiculously expensive, although there is nothing E&J can do about that. Manufacturers make huge money on simple parts. It would be nice if one could purchase non-OEM parts.

Description of Work: The oven on my gas stove was not working properly and I thought something was wrong with the thermostat. The heat would only come on at "Warm" or 400 degrees and nothing in between. The technician checked out everything and discovered that the knobs for the oven settings and the temperature settings had been accidentally switched (probably during a recent cleaning). It was a simple solution, but he also checked out the thermostat and made sure all parts of the stove were working properly.

Description of Work: Pump was replaced in clothes washer. Work was done expertly, professionally, very quickly (less than an hour). The work seemed expensive to me, but i haven't had similar work done in several years.

Description of Work: Our icemaker was broken. My husband has always been able to fix it and in fact ordered an entire new unit for our Samsung fridge for $55 and replaced it, but it would not work right. I found E&J on Angies list with ALL great reviews. It killed my DH to pay $79 for a service call, but we knew we did not want to hassel with a company that would jerk us around.( and at least we had the $10 off coupon from the site) They came out on a Saturday with no extra charge which was nice because we work during the week. The service tech (sorry I forgot his name) called 15 minutes out and was here at 8 sharp (we were scheduled between 8-12). He checked everything thoroughly and quickly determined that the new icemaker unit that my husband bought was a bad unit. He suggested we return it and get another one from the place we bought it from. While miffed that we a bad unit cost us $ to have them come out, we were impressed that he did not try to upsell us and have him ask us to pay extra $ for him to order and install one when my DH can do it easily. We will use them again.

Description of Work: Our six-year old (out of warranty), LG, front-loading washing machine did not work because it could not drain water. We called Best Buy where the washing machine was purchased and they connected us to the Geek-Squad for the repair work. They sent a technician several days later, who diagnosed that the pump was not working and had to be replaced. The good news was that the Geek-Squad charged $100 for the service call and would return to install the new pump without any additional labor charges, just the cost of the part. The bad news was they could not return for two weeks. Deal or No Deal, our family of seven was running low on underwear and could not wait two weeks. I turned to Angie's List and called E&J Appliance and the owner, Alan Johnson, answered the phone late that afternoon. I explained the problem and asked how quickly they could get and install the new pump. He was friendly, professional and understood our sense of urgency. He figured a way to get the part the next morning and scheduled a technician to pick up the part and install it the next day. This was great news to the whole family.
